1. Quirky Entertainment [Rating: 7/10]
Sexy Voice and Robo seems to have been overshadowed by some of the bigger name idol dramas happening in the spring 2007 season in both japan and the online drama community and that's a shame because it's actually pretty entertaining.

The drama relies heavily on "weird" humor so if that's not your thing you probably will end up hating this drama(see review above). I personally was looking forward to every episode, partly because of the quirky story but mostly because Suzuka Ohgo is one charimsatic 13 year old. People like to praise Shida Mirai in the child actress department but if Suzuka continues to put out performances like she did in this drama I'm guessing that she will end up being the more successful of the two later on. Matsuyama holds his own as the big otaku and has pretty good chemistry with Suzuka.

Each episode ends with a voice over monologue by Suzuka and this is usually my favorite part of the show as it never failed to leave me with chills as the last line is delivered right after the music cuts off, in a sea of dramas that use the same repetitive format for story telling it's really refreshing to see a drama that breaks the mold in that aspect. Even how the drama finale ends is pretty different and is more in synch with how life usually goes for most of us (although it did leave me a little unsatisfied).

There is nothing ground breaking about this but it really is a fun little time waster that I didn't want to see end. If nothing else watch it for Suzuka Ohgo's fashion, I swear that the world would be a better place if all girls dressed like that!

Thank god there's a few people out there that wish to stir the boat and stop modern day j-doromas from spiralling into the waters of cliche after cliche - that's what the people from Sexy Voice and Robo attempt to do and full credit to them. Despite the badly translated english title, an at-sometimes frustratingly simple and dull script, this drama survives via the undeniable quirkyness of its plot and the vivacity and spirit given by the two main actors (both of whom are quite excellent) to their characters. People will be frustrated by this drama because it lacks any real plot development, and on the surface the characters each seem restricted as a result. But if you attempt to read between the lines, you'll find a terrified young girl fighting against her parents, friends - basically everyone she knows, and yet somehow she finds peace with an odd, otaku boy who has no special gifts, but somehow is able to understand her. Their relationship is amazingly pure and as deep as any one you'll see in a j-dorama, period. Matsuyama is a star

3. Pretty funny but taken from the real life [Rating: 9/10]
I may be generous with my voting, because I just finished watching it.

I think the two main actors, Matsuyama Kenishi and Ohgo Suzuka, did an excellent job in this Drama. An Otaku, a little bit childish and not willing to accept reality, and a 14-year-old girl that is confronted with reality and looks for ways to handle it.

Besides the nice humour and partly surreal and crazy cases that the two of them have to solve, also the more serious parts of this drama kept me attached to it.

Nikos thoughts on her own problems, which lead her to theories about our world in general, seemed often very true to me.
It never got too emotional; meaning kitchy~

Many people disliked the ending, and I supose it's not what you'd expect after watching the first episode ... but I found it very natural and not really sad.
I liked it a lot and if you've some time left, it's definitely worth watching.

4. Likeable cast, fun & sad parts in all episodes [Rating: 10/10]
As long as the characters are enjoyable to watch, I'm happy with the dorama. SVAR has such a good cast. Everyone is so wacky, but Niko balances it out with her mature approach to everything. The stories in each episode start out interesting and usually funny, then slowly turn into heartwarming stories that stick with me long after I watch it. Robo really represents the otaku well in this show. Pretty much all the funny parts involve him. The funny parts often make me laugh so hard that my sides hurt!

Niko (Suzuka) really made the show for me. Adorable girl, and she acts so mature! My favorite actor now, over Yuko Takeuchi and Hiroshi Abe. If there's a movie or dorama with Suzuka in it, I want to see it!

Probably no season 2 in the future, but hopefully a Sexy Voice And Robo special or movie someday? If not I have no problem watching this series over and over, though.

5. Very Good! [Rating: 10/10]
Kenichi Matsuyama is perfect in this role!! he is truly a versatile actor able to play so many different roles so well. Ohgo Suzuka is a great actress who is perfect in this role. She is enjoyable to watch, and very mature at her age. I think many actresses can learn from her!!

Probably 7.5. I really enjoyed the first few and last 2 episodes, and episode 7. Apart from those, the others were a bit ordinary, parts of which I felt I endured rather than enjoyed. I really liked the original plot and topics, how it was able to mix light-hearted and serious content seamlessly. Both the leads were very good too. But one of its problems I think is that it got a bit too complicated/confused sometimes in trying to deliver its messages, and there was a lack of focus for a long time in the middle of the series (both in terms of character and ...) I would have liked to see more of Niko, even though the story of Robo's growth was quite well told. The messages sometimes were a bit confusing, not sure if it's due to the quality of translation. I like most of the messages that I understood, though I have to say most of them were not that memorable, except for the first episode.

I wasn't even going to watch this actually but I enjoyed most of the episodes very much. There's something very quirky and fun about the drama that engages me, especially the characters who are really unique and 'weird' in different ways. Ohgo Suzuka has great screen aura for her age... I think she carries the show as a lead pretty well. One of the things I like to see in each episode is the cute outfits that Niko is wearing. They probably look weird in other instances but look right at home in this drama.

I liked this drama a lot mainly because of its main characters. I think I initially watched this drama because of MatsuKen, but the young actress, Ohgo Suzuka, definitely stole the show. Her character was altogether loveable with none of that whininess I find so utterly annoying in many other young female characters. There was awesome character development, showing how both of the main characters matured throughout the show. It was definitely interesting and funny at many parts. Highly recommended.

Incredibly underrated! A surprisingly thought-provoking drama about life and growing-up that just happens to revolve around an otaku and a junior high school girl. Excellent acting and lots of subtle humor. Not every episode hits the mark, but it's nice to see something different for a change. If you liked the quirkiness and sensitivity of Nobuta wo Produce (same writer), you'll enjoy it.

This is a well put together drama...it's a little bit weird....actually a whole lot of weirdness....but an entertaining show....Ohgo Suzuka is great for being so young and held my attention throughtout the show...Matsayama Kenichi was funny and likeable.... Lots of deep thoughts and probing of life and death.....I liked this show!

I didn't like it at first but when I watched it for the second time I enjoyed it so much. Robo always cracks me up with his "ittadakimax". It's just that Niko didn't really make use of her powers that much in the story. This is more of a human drama than a mystery.
9. Comments by gaijinmark [Rating: 8/10]
I liked this drama a lot. Kenichi Matsuyama is the best otaku ever, Suzuka Ohgo very good as well. This is one of those dramas that you either "get it" and think its great, or don't "get it" and think its terrible.

Finished half of the series. Both leads are great actors, but the story doesn't do them justice. I can take the strange/quirky humour, but the story just isn't very interesting.

Funny stuff. They obviously don't take themselves seriously. A few tough subjects, great cast. The only bad thing, robo keeps yelling all the time for no good reason.

This kind of story maybe amusing as a manga but definetely not as a dorama. I was pretty disappointed after the positive reactions I heard from other people.

This reminded me alot of a Manga/Anime called XXXholic but not as clever as that Manga. I think this would work better as an Anime.

Interesting premise and great acting by the leads, but the plot development was sometimes a bit slow and not completely engaging.

funny.. espicially Kenichi matsuyama.. how he acted like a stupid or nerdy look.. its way far from his character in Death note..

The story is ok but it gets lame and cheesy with each episode. Gave up after 5 episodes.

The story may be plain, but the characters and actors are great and I loved the off-voice texts at the end of every episode by Niko. Also the thoughts or statements by which she introduced every episode's topic were so .. true. It was touching but not kitchy or too overloaded with emotions. And I personally liked the ending.
2. keal
Fun and wacky cast, Niko is adorable and very mature actress, I can watch her all day, very charming! Side-splitting laugh-out-loud moments and some mild tear-jerking scenes. Nice logical ending to the series. I will watch a few more times for sure
3. gaijinmark
Great drama! The considerable talent of Suzuka Ohgo, Kenichi Matsuyama - the best otaku ever, great supporting work by Yoshinori Okada (Professional!!) and 60's/70's pop icon Ruriko Asaoka. My favorite drama of 2007!!
