I never read the manga nor seen the anime, that's why I can only compare this to the movie. This is "as good as it gets" for me or should I say, should have been for me. But it seems like, because the screenwriter was from ProDai and Toma was from Hana Kimi, they were trying to do the same formula as those two successful series but it turned out differently and the ratings had proved that. |

I can see what the director and producers were thinking by bringing Narumi Riko (16) - a talented young actor - into the role of Hagumi. However, that lively youthfulness they were hoping to transfer onto screen in reality was contrastively replaced by a dull, lifeless perfomance. Anybody who has seen Aoi Yuu as Hagumi (probably in her best performance) in the movie version (worth a watch by the way) will know what I'm talking about. Imagine what the likes of Ueno Juri could've done with this role. She would've nailed it out of the park. Apart from that, the story is also incredibly slow, despite the lovely, laidback setting of artschool. Narimiya Hiroki is excellent as always and frustratingly so, because he is ALWAYS the standout in his dramas (stand up, kou kou no kyoshi etc.) and is somehow unable to get a proper gig as a main character in a drama. Overall, a bit disappointing and could've explored much greater territory as both a love story and a rite-of-passage drama. |

I liked the casts, the acting and how they were well selected - looked alike the characters in anime. Although the anime does more justice than the live action, which is often the case, I thought that the producers really tried to kept the plot closely to that of the manga/anime. Definatley watch this if you like the manga and the anime. Highly recommended. |

The first half of the show was in such a slow start.. Kind of dull and a bit hard to keep going. At least I forced myself to watch it to the end. The other half was enjoyable which is a good thing.. Toma did well on his role, I find Yamada and Morita to be very annoying. Even more with Yamada still keeping going after Mayama, after when she was rejected and trying to move on. |

I didn't even realize the ending was the ending. It feels incomplete, but it was a nice drama. I really like the paintings that 'Hagumi' paints and the art directing. Other than it relating to me being in an art school, I thought the story was lacking. I love the Ayumi-Mayama-Norita triangle though. The closing video is always fun to watch. |

Despite a very promising opening couple of episodes and great casting, I found the middle of the series to be painfully weak. The ending was good, but the anime beats it out in almost every way. I think the character design for Takemoto, Morita, and most of the main characters was so much better than the anime, but the direction fell flat on its face. Too bad - it had some strong potential. |

Maybe I'm a bit biased since I saw the anime and I think the storyline of the anime is way better. The dorama did not manage to portray half of what the anime managed to do. However, I do praise the actors for their good acting, even if their characters did not resemble their anime counterpart in the least (I blame script for that). |

This is a touching story of Takemoto and his college friends as they struggle through love, college life and their careers. I really enjoyed this one. There is a lot of comic relief when the plot gets too serious. And each episode does a good job pulling the viewers in for more. |

Hmmmmmm... not easy to grade this one. All in all it's definitely none of my favourites. It lacks some nice absorbing flow... and the characters aren't of my like, but still it had some nice moments. The first episodes were kinda slow, but somehow it catched my interest in episode 8 and 9, which were really good ones. I'm still not sure what to say about the ending. I kinda missed something here, it doesn't really feel as if it ended. Hm. Definitely ok, to see the struggles of the characters and nice philosophic aspects, too, but all in one lacks some assertiveness. All the struggle is a bit anoying. |

I watched this for Nari, Toma and Riko. This drama is kind of slow BUT still I like the chemistry protray between the 5 leads in the drama. Each has their own boundary to cross, each has their own relationship to deal with and last of all they still keep their friendship to the end. |

i watched this one because i absolutely LOVED toma in hana kimi, but this drama was incredibly slow most of the time, and isnt one that leaves a lasting impression.
However, i REALLY enjoyed watching Harada Natsuki's character develop. I also really liked her chemistry with Mayama. i think it was their relationship that motivated me to finish watching the drama. |

This is about 6.5ish- I watched this being a fan of the anime and I must say that this is a big letdown. Certain moments were too slow and some were too fast. The addition of Ryoma-Sama was great. I recommend others to watch the anime instead or read the manga. (Watched Spring 08) |

Actually,it's kind of boring. Not super boring,but a little. I really dun like the main female lead because i think her acting looks so fake. Even when she smiles,it doesn't look genuine. Sigh....maybe it's because i've seen her acting in 1 litre of tears and her character is nothing like in honey and clover but i still think that her acting in 1 litre of tears is more convincing. Other than her,i love the rest of the cast especially toma and osamu!! After watching for a while,i began to wonder,who exactly is the main character because the drama doesn't really focus on the main character but all the 4 friends. That's why,instead of paying attention to the main storyline.....toma and the painter girl,i actually drifted off and was more interested in mayama and the pot girl. The ending was nice,the storyline is not bad,the soundtrack too and also the beginning and the ending where they played the theme song. The polaroid pic concept at the beginning and the self video at the end is really nice |

I am in a love-hate relationship with this drama because some parts of it I absolutely enjoyed watching while other parts I wish I can just cut out of the drama.

i can feel Yuuta's (Ikuta Toma) desperation, for not having destination in life, not knowing what to do., not have enough courage to teel his feeling. Somewhat this dorama teach me life.
As a fact i almost give up wacthing this after 3 episodes, at first i feels this dorama is slow, but when reached 4 episodes i started to like this dorama and fall in love with Toma's character at the same time.

Decided to watch the series since I absolutely loved the manga (one of the funniest I've read in a long time) but didn't have a great experience with the Chinese drama (stuck to the manga's story and had some great actresses, but mainly the acting was not so great). I turned to the Japanese version in hopes of seeing better acting and the amazing Kashiwabara Takashi ^^
For the most part, the acting is better, but the story is too different from the manga for my liking, particularly because the J-drama is much less funny and lighthearted than the manga. The drama plot is typical of college dramas and focuses on the complex relationships among the students and how they chase/find their dreams. So although at first the drama was pretty enjoyable and funny, soon enough, the story becomes too dragged out and cliche (the Romaiya-senpai thing was funny the first two times, not so much after the 10th).
I was really impressed with Ikuta Toma since he did a great job making himself a completely different person from the role he portrays in Voices (the only other drama I've seen him in), which convinced me he's a great actor. However, I'm not so positive about Narumi Riko's performance.
Overall, this was a fairly mediocre and disappointing drama. Although Orange Days did not rank high in my books either, as another mediocre college drama that I've watched, it was still better in comparison to this (incidentally, it also features Nariyama Hiroki and Kashiwabara Takashi though I can't remember Kashi's role).
Summary: WATCH the MANGA, DON'T WATCH either of the DRAMA versions. |

Being a fan of the anime i had pretty high expectations for this drama. I wasn't so much let down by the cast especially with Narimiya Hiroki and Ikuta Toma, who both in my opinion, did a better job in their roles as morita and takemoto than the movie version (sorry sho chan ><) but overall it still wasn't very well done. Along the way a lot of the positive messages in experiencing heartache and rejection and growing up that the anime did so well at conveying, just got lost in the drama which was a big dissappointment. I just think for fans who are watching this because of the anime will be severely let down and that honey and clover is just one of those storys that just can't be retold through a drama. |

This was broadcasted on 8tv early 2009. Managed to catch two episodes only. The first one was i think already mid-way through the drama. And the second one was the last episode. The impression this drama gave me from just the two episodes i saw was quite a good one though.
Was very excited when i heard the ending song. Yes i could instantly recognise the voice and the style. It was sung by Ken Hirai aka Mr Talented. Ever since he released 'fake star' i was re-thinking being a fan of his. Didn't follow his song releases after that. Knew that he released some new songs from reading forums here and there but found it tiring trying to follow an artiste who doesn't get much coverage in my local media.
In any case, it got me drawn back to him. Started searching for his songs that were released after 'fake star'. And also that theme song he did for Ano Sora wa Oboeteru. I knew Ken was providing the theme song for the movie of my favourite actor but at that point of time i was thinking it would take a LONG TIME before i get to see the movie and hear the song itself. So i decided to dettach myself from both of them. *shrugs* |
