The lives of young adults living alone is explored in this artistic drama as the heroin Miho, set on living in her own apartment, refuses her best friend Kyoko's offer to move in together. Things get sticky when Miho is driven by loneliness into a rocky love affair, and Kyoko follows her own romantic pursuits while making a point of ignoring her best friend out of jealous spite. 1. Simple but good [Rating: 7/10]
I bought this really only to add to my Tokiwa collection. With the title of 'Living Single' I wasn't expecting much, but it turned out to be better than I thought. This is not for anyone with a short attention span because it takes a while for the plot to develop. It starts with the simple premise of Tokiwa being pushed out of the nest, and her getting an apartment on her own. But it develops into a coming of age story including her first real romance and the series of betrayals she suffers trying pursue her dreams. It also touches on the burden of befriending someone who is obviously mentally ill and having to be mature enough to overlook that persons back-stabbing to meet the responbilities of being an adult.
