Synopsis
One day at a wedding, the "Power Office Girls" meet head-to-head with the others from Manpan Trading. The bride is none other than Chinatsu Tsuboi.

As Chinatsu stares into her husband's eyes just after exchanging wedding rings, one can hear people saying things like "I never would have suspected that Chinatsu would tie the knot," and "Her husband graduated from Tokyo University, and his father is the owner of a large business conglomerate." While this is taking place, Sawako is caught gazing at Ukyo. So Chinatsu asks Rie, Ume, and Kana if they want to bet 100,000 yen each on whether Sawako will have her first sexual experience by the end of June or not. Chinatsu knows she has the bet won just by looking at Sawako's face.

Manpan Trading, which Chinatsu has just resigned from, is in the middle of a big financial restructuring--which will lead to a lot of people being put out of work. Unless the company can downsize by 200 people in June, the banks won't help finance them any longer. As part of this, the banks have sent in a group of personnel consultants headed by a guy named Aoyama. Not wanting to be overrun by a foreign affiliated company who would fire the top managers anyway, the president of Manpan Trading decides he's going to get rid of the employees himself.

When the head-over-heels Sawako takes Ukyo his new business cards, all he has to say to her is "thanks for wasting your time." On her way back to the office, the despondent Sawako doesn't even have a clue that she just passed a suspicious character who is delivering "happy lunches" throughout the company.

Back in the General Affairs Department, the manager, Mr. Inoue says "It sure is lonesome without Chinatsu here." The other 4 girls who seem to be relieved that Chinatsu is out of their hair, tell him that all she wants to do is "show off what kind of rich life she's leading now." More importantly to them though is who is going to take over carrying Chinatsu's ladder. Just as they are pondering about this, Sawako returns. As she feels them looking at her, they brand her as the "heir apparent to Chinatsu's ladder."

In the hallway, doing her best to carry the ladder is Sawako, and the rest of the girls who face off with the secretaries. As always, they've got something to say to each other. "You know about the company downsizing right? Your names are at the top of the list." "Pull it together Sawako, you're working in Chinatsu's place now!" the four tell her.

With axe in hand, Aoyama continues the downsizing. The girls from General Affairs are on the hit list, and so are the secretaries, including Misono, and some of the people working under Ukyo. For those that don't want to resign, jobs such as farming, pest control, and copying the entire phone book are just waiting for them. Even as others around them are handing in their resignations, the girls from General Affairs keep plugging away. So Aoyama and his henchmen have devised a plan especially for them.

The son of a "gyudon" (beef served over rice) franchise chain, Akagi, approaches Sawako. He tells her that he's seen her before at work, and asks her to come work for him. He also adds that he wants her to "think about her future, and to start a relationship with him." Sawako doesn't know what to do...

The list of 200 people who will resign is all the way down to 1 now. Ukyo gets wind that it is the president and the rest of the high level management that are responsible for this, and tells them he won't let them get away with "trying to axe people down in sheer numbers." But of course they don't listen to him. During the explanation about severance pay, Ukyo declares that "he can't take it anymore" and pulls out his letter of resignation from his chest pocket. However, Sawako comes forth and...

1. Worthy addition, if only for the inevitable change [Rating: 8/10]
-Nonomura is gone. (Toshihito Ito had died before filming, so they replaced him)
-New, younger president. The company is now called "Manpan-George Smith" after a merger.
-The real ending to the Shomuni saga is the special known as "Shomuni Forever" which aired on this New Year.

2. Good [Rating: 8/10]
It's not as good as Shomuni 1 and 2 but it holds its own. Some scenes are over-exaggerated and I caught a joke between Sugita and Chinatsu ripped from an earlier season. One or two episodes are contrived and not all of the girls have episodes centered around them: I think there were only three.

More Naho! Naho is hot. Mai, Yumiko, and Kotomi look much cuter in this season. Don't know if I'll ever get to see any of specials since they came out a few years back.

Hahahahahah!!!
This show is hilarious. Definitely a live anime drama desu. Yet all the characters (other than Shomuni no minasan) seem to have grown throughout the drama - quite incredible for a gag show like this.
Highly recommended.

well,i am a die-hard esumi makiko fan.however i don't really like her role in shomuni series.plus her straight front hair which has become her style in shomuni, (in my opinion) conceals her true beauty.but i must admit that her hair style did succeed in bringing out her tough, adventurious looking character.considering this show was once a hit in japan, i have to say this final one was entertaining and hilarious.however still shomuni series wasn't excellent enough to make me burst-out laughing.it was not an eye-watering show,so giving 4 out of 10 is definitely generous of me.

The 7 Shomuni characters (let's not forget Inoue, shall we?) can act pretty darn well...and episodes 1 and 4 is a big laugh.

I review this after I've watched the entire Shomuni saga from the very first episode to the very last Special (Shomuni Forever), and I have to say the scriptwriters have had their creative juices sucked dry...Episode 6 was way too predictable and I was tempted to switch off my DVD player.

But as always, there are two parts to a joke: the joke itself and how the person tells it...even if you know the joke after hearing it for tens of times, the way a good joke teller tells it to you can still make you laugh. And laugh I did, though not too full-heartedly.

And if you're a fan of Rie (like I am), you're going to hate this: She will not appear very often throughout this series.

The "7" I give does not factor in the disgust I have for the scriptwriters who failed to give Takahashi Yumiko's character a storyline; that actress's acting had stolen the show from Esumi Makiko in seasons 1 and 2.

Just like the first 2 series. Some episodes are really funny & some are boring. Especially the episode with Tokunagas husband, it was terrible. 7-

This drama puts Esumi in an unbelievably corny and comedic role that--while she can pull off--somehow makes you feel annoyed. It's a little too slapstick for me. I am never sure if I really want to continue watching till the end of an episode. I don't think any of it's too funny.

Shomuni Final was quite a disappoinment ~~ compared to part 1 & 2 ~ the final was bad .... one of the main reason is the storyline became weaker than the previous 2 season ... and the assistant of HR department has been changed ... the new assistant can't be compared wif the original one .... the stories became a bit boring .... if u've not watch any .. i would recommend u to watch "Shomuni 1" & "Shomuni 2" ~~ better not watch "Shomuni Final" ... coz it'll affect the good quality in ur mind of "Shomuni 1 & 2" ~~ hehez ~~ personal opinion ~~

wonderful episodes with a moral behind each and every story... it bears quite a good conclusion to the prequels of the drama...

A tad repetitive but still very enjoyable because of Makiko Esumi's excellent acting. Sad that there's no more Shomuni after this one!

I love everything about Shomuni. Shomuni Final was a bit sillier than the others. A bit more cartoonish. But that was fine with me.
27. Comments by donna8157 [Rating: 7/10]
Again, the third and final installment to Shomuni. It's still in the same style as its predecessors but fails to give any conclusion to the Shomuni Series. I rated this lower than the other ones because it didn't seem to further the series much if any.
28. Comments by mochi [Rating: ?/10]
light comic relief! but still manage to communicate important messages (i remember once that Makiko, in her role, gave her opinion that one should take one's job seriously no matter how society views the importance/status of your job) it kinds of makes me want to put my best foot forward and give my 100% in everything i do, big or small!
apart from that shomuni final was fantastic as a comedy as well :D it made my day those sunday nights! (it used to be aired on sunday nights here)

The only reason i'm not giving a 10 is the loss of Nonomura-kun (the actor passed away before filming this part). The Personnel section was a high point of fun in Shomuni and the change of the actor was like -20% of fun.
Amazing mention to Sugita-san (Naho Toda) who was really into the drama.
Real personalities appear here... we knew a perfect Chinatsu in Shomuni 1 and 2... in this third part we can see that she's not as perfect we thought she was...

A perfect trilogy must have three perfect parts. Shomuni is the case. Shomuni Final is as good as the two parts before. Maybe some things didn't work well (like the new partner of Terasaki-buchou) but huh. Who cares after 12 amazing episodes?
