1. Quirky and Fun [Rating: 9/10]
This is one of my favorite dramas on account of the off beat humor. By the last episode, I was laughing out loud at some of the jokes that were repeated from earlier episodes. The "mysteries" aren't that difficult. After you watch a couple of episodes, you'll be able to figure out who the culprit really is within the first 15 minutes of the episode, but that doesn't take away from what makes the show interesting, which is the character relationships and the humor. If you understand Japanese, you'll get more of the jokes but even if you don't, you'll get enough to make it worth watching.

2. Funny & Entertaining [Rating: 7/10]
I see the word "boring" thrown about in describing this dorama, and it makes me wonder if we were watching the same thing. If you feel the same way after a couple episodes, stick with it. The crime solving aspect is admittedly very pedestrian with little mystery to hang on, but that really takes a backseat to the fact that this is a very effective quirky comedy. As for crime solvers, the laugh-out-loud moments in each episode rival that of the beloved "Trick" series, while the pace beats the pants off a more hyped (but seriously dull, slow-motion) star vehicle like "Hero."

3. Veri Funny [Rating: 7/10]
Only watched 2 of the story, but find it very interesting.

Like the cast, very natural when they were joking.

Remember a part when the leads were having lunch together, udon, the male lead had a question and the udon on his chopsticks become a shape of "?"..... very funny.

A whole new way of crime solving... u noe the who the victim and the crimmial, but how to solve the puzzle....

Interesting, looking forward to the next story.

From looking at the synopsis of the drama, I could tell right off the bat that this drama wasn't going to appreciated by everyone. I absolutely adore Japanese dramas revolving around detectives and the mysteries that they have to solve thanks to drama predecessors like "Keizoku" and "Kindaichi Shounen no Jikenbo". However, after watching just a few of the episodes from this series I quickly lost interest. The mysteries that Odagiri Joe's character has to solve are oftentimes not that interesting. In fact, after he solves it he can't even arrest the criminal.

The most enjoyable part of this series is the acting by Odagiri Joe. He does a good job at portraying a quirky and geeky looking worker who has an interest in solving crimes for fun. The supporting cast was rather weak and I didn't think the female lead who had hints of romantic interest in the other man was the least bit interesting. The drama is also episodic meaning that there is little to keep your interests in between watching each episode.

Itfs a one case per episode crime solving series but it wonft appeal to everybody - one of the main ingredients is subtle black yet whacky humor. Therefore, this non-sense comedy won me over in no time. It works on several levels: slapstick, the dialogue, background situations, the chemistry of the two main protagonists and the whacky colleagues. One word to describe this drama: absurd.
The cases are not that challenging and the pace is slow but this is not what the series is all about anyway. I prefer this kind of humor over MBMH and even Nodame Cantabile (although I like both of them tremendously).

For the story, I gave it an average of 8. Since itfs renzoku, meaning an episode can stand on its own, I gave each episode a different rating. Additional point for the humor, which will be pretty much appreciated if you really understand Japanese. All in all it was a funny and interesting series eventhough you might already know the suspect the moment the case is being introduced. The fun part was trying to figure out how did the crime took place. Big laughs from Odagiri Joe, Aso Kumiko, Toyohara Kosuke and the rest of the gang.

Really funny dorama, with black humor and nonsense details. If you've seen Atami no Sousakan you'll understand what I say. The main difference with Atami is that Jikou Keisatsu misteries are very easy to understand, so you may think the dorama may be weak, but I always felt that the misteries are just an excuse to make some weird humor. That's the strong point of this dorama, and it is one of the very, very few that made me really laugh. Odagiri Joe + Satoshi Miki (director) just make a gorgeous combination. Don't miss it!
5. Comments by Lady Zhuge [Rating: 5/10]
There's one case per episode and each one pretty much follows the same formula; some are better than others. Not for whodunnit fans! It tries to be like Trick with the quirky humor, but is nowhere as endearing. The only character I like in here is Kiriyama (Joe Odagiri). Everyone else is rather annoying. I love Joe, but can't believe there will be a sequel to this crap...and sadly I'll probably eventually end up watching it too since Joe makes so few TV dramas nowadays.

I was really surprised by the fact that I actually enjoyed this very funny, quirky detective drama. Joe Odagiri, one of the coolest actor around, has a lesser-known talent for great comic timing. This is a drama with an interesting premise - a police officer who investigates expired cases or cases that reach their statue of limitations as a hobby - I do recommend it as an underrated drama from Winter 2006.
7. Comments by Cerebus [Rating: 8/10]
Hilarious in places, on a number of occasions I had to stop the recordings as I was laughing so much. Wonderfully quirky and absurd and it doesn't resort to either rampant overacting or stupid slapstick for laughs. The leads, Odagiri Joe and Aso Kumiko are both great, and have a real chemistry together. It must have been really difficult to sub, given the amount of puns and word play.
8. Comments by estranged [Rating: 8/10]
Love or hate show.

The humour is subtle, quirky and strange, with a number of jokes being non-gaijin friendly as they involve playing around with Japanese words.

The two leads, Odagiri Joe and Asou Kumiko, were awesome together, producing great chemistry and plenty of funny interaction. The rest of the cast were very funny too, with very natural acting.

Very entertaining. It took me a while to get into it at first, but once I did, I enjoyed it very much. Not perfect because though some jokes were hilarious, others fell a little flat. I love Odagiri Joe and Aso Kumiko in this. I also love the fake "This drama is fiction" blurbs at the very end.
10. Comments by Tiffany [Rating: 7/10]
The story was definitely really interesting, especially since I'm real big on mystery doramas. I love the way the stories were set up and there was a cute subtle humor in each episode, but in a way, it was a bit too *out there* so some of that humor may have been lost...
11. Comments by Sun_Shang_Xiang [Rating: 9/10]
Funny and extremely clever, Odagiri Joe and Asou Kumiko have great chemistry. The attention to detail is great in this drama down to reverting to filming in 4:3 format when a scene is done in the past, keep an eye out or you'll miss the gags going on in the background.
12. Comments by aik0 [Rating: 7/10]
Each episode revolves around an expired case. 60% crime investigation, 35% comedy, 5% romance. Lengthly *explanatory* dialogue and subtitles, which can get confusing if you miss some of the dialogue. The character design are interesting and dark comedy here and there.

I'm only 6 eps into this, but unless something drastic happens, my rating will not likely change. It's fun but repetitive . And I confess I started watching it mainly because I'd just come off of watching Satorare and wanted to see more of Odagiri Joe

This drama was interesting at first, but just after 1 episode, it dived straight down. It's irritatingly slow & stupidly spastic. Not my cup of tea. Bought & watched it to fill in the time I had in between while waiting for other releases.

I really admire Odagiri Joe's act ability and I think this one of his best drama. The character in this drama is really good and UNIQUE. This drama has a very interesting story, and I heard there'll be a sequel... Looking forward to it.

Quite passable at best... Just can't stand the lack of chemistry between the two leading characters! You could try it for its entertaining cases, but I won't go as far as recommend it.
17. Comments by sadacori [Rating: 6/10]
I felt that this cop/mystery drama wasn't as good as I thought it would be. It's good enough to pass the time with, but not good enough for me to recommend. This is average at best.
18. Comments by Kuro570 [Rating: 8/10]
Not a must watch but is worth it, at times it felt slow but the chemistry between the two officers and the investigations into cases that are closed will hold you over for a while.

Funny Odagiri Joe. His hairstyle look like a bookworm but he solved the 15 years later crime. Cool and interesting drama, a bit like Furuhata. Hope there is a part 2 soon.

Incredible cast! Juumonji is my favorite of all of Toyohara's characters. Love the easy interaction between Toyohara & Odagiri and sheer inanity of the humor.

Mikazuki is so cute.

Plot - so so, has lame jokes throughout the show.

This thing is hilarious!! Odagiri Joe in his best comic role!! I loved the 8th ep. where it was about his pervert-lookalike arc

The mysteries were a little lame, but the show was enjoyable because it was funny. The romance could've been more subtle.

One of the best you'll see, Odagiri as a detective who solves unsolved cases, a smart, slapstickish comedy.
