Synopsis
Shiomi Eiji is forced to become a single father when his girlfriend passes away while giving birth to their daughter, Shizuku. Desolate after the loss of the woman he loved, Eiji has little time or desire to even consider remarrying, working part-time jobs just to make ends meet. The one thing that gives meaning and joy to his life is Shizuku, but even that begins to trouble him when Shizuku begins acting strange, hiding her face by putting a cloth over her head when around other people.

One day after opening his flower shop, Eiji comes across a blind woman standing by the door, taking shelter from the rain. When he invites her to come inside the shop, she at first refuses, but later gives in to Eiji's kindness. They become intimate friends and she slowly grows to depend on Eiji's sincerity and goodheartedness. After rescuing her a following evening when she walks into the street and is nearly struck by traffic, Eiji himself inexplicably discovers the cold of winter that has saddled his heart all these years slowly melting away...

1. it was really good [Rating: 10/10]
I'm kind of a sucker for father-daughter relationships and cheesy family stuff like that. So that's why I was sucked in by the first (sweet and touching) episode... but I didn't expect it to be anything more than a heartwarming romantic thing. Boy was i wrong.

The twists and turns really surprised me, since from the summary I had no idea. It's not purely romantic, angsty, funny, or moving, it's a mixture of all of those. The balance between humor (and I just loved the supporting cast, they were so great) and serious/emotional parts was so perfect. I don't think anyone here over-acted at all. The music, the camera shots, all suited the story so well... multiple scenes brought tears to my eyes and are still so vividly memorable. This made me love Takeuchi Yuko even more, and Matsuda Shota quite impressed me (I never liked him before this drama, but now I do). Shingo, the leading man, was good too, especially at the end. Master, the bar guy, is one of my favorite characters here and so underrated. Every expression of his and his mannerisms cracked me up.

I don't care, I think the fact that it's a happy ending made it all the better. I'm tired of sad endings. This one wrapped everything up nicely and had a lot of hope in it. I was happy that Shizuku stayed with her grandfather, because this way nobody would be lonely. The little girl actress was amazing, I can't believe she was only 7 when they filmed this.

Anyway, great script, great actors, I didn't find it slow-paced personally. Recommended!

2. Who wants a rose, anyway? [Rating: 8/10]
The more I think about this drama, the more mixed my feelings get about it, so Ifm just going to pump out what I think at this precise moment.

I liked it. I loved it in the beginning, and I loved when all the twists and turns started happening in the plot. The screenwriter managed to surprise me a few times, which is good. Ifm just not sure if I liked the direction all the twists and turns were going in.

When the truth is revealed between Kiji and Mio, I found the preceding episodes awkward to watch. I felt uncomfortable with themc. Thinking about it Ifm sure I was supposed to feel this way, because this is what the characters were feeling. This is good, but that doesnft mean I have to like it.

Takeuchi Yuko did an excellent job, of course. I always feel so refreshed after Ifve finished seeing her in action. Katori Shingo did a decent job as well, but the robot way he talked was really annoying. I guess Ifm just used to seeing him act like he did in Hito ni Yasashiku. Yagi Yuuki was uber kawaii and Ifm sure shefll make it big when she grows up. The supporting cast was grand.

I suppose I feel like I donft like the drama as much as I should because of the ending. I liked everything about it (even tho it was one big cliché) but I donft like how Shizuku remains with her grandfather instead of returning to her father. Bleh.

The drama was good.

3. A very good and solid drama [Rating: 9/10]
This drama takes you over all 11 episodes with no single filling-episode in between! Drama starts very sweetly but first big twist turns out quite in the beginning. It almost got me to stop watching, I was so uppset for this swindling scheme plotting into this one also.

But right at the following episode it got me back inside with a marvellous storytelling. And it continued to do so in every episode including the last ones. Hontou ni I loved it all the time! The kind man, a small child, forced-to-hurt-woman and all side characters were written beautifully. As I mentioned before there was no annoying side-plots or filling stories in this drama. That was also a big reason for good score.

I really, really liked this one. I would have given it full ten if the bar wasn't set so high with Ichi Rittoru no Namida :) If you like drama which continues the same story without sidelining and is well-written I recommend this to you all. Acting by Takeuchi Yuko was splendid, best of the cast.

4. Get your tissues ready.. [Rating: 10/10]
This is a real tear jerker, this is for me is Takeuchi Yuko's best drama so far, wonderful cast with great support form the ever so cute Yagi Yuki, Terejima Susumu, Shaku Yumiko (her best role so far IMHO) Miura Tomokazu and Matsuda Shota.

This is really well written with some interesting twists however it did seem to start running out of steam after episode 7 and again in the last episode.Unfortunately Katori Shingo's performance to me wasn't that impressive, he delivered all his lines in boring monotone and his expressions seemed all the same even when he was supposed to be angry and he just didn't look in love with Mio; sure his character's grieving but surely he still has to have other emotions. I can't help feeling that other actors such as Abe Hiroshi or Sawamura Ikki or even Kusanagi Tsuyoshi (ok maybe they be older than the character should be) would have done a better job.

5. Great acting all around [Rating: 10/10]
I finished downloading this a few weeks ago and the disk was just sitting on my desk. What made me watch mediocre dramas over this one? I don't know. I think it was because the storyline wasn't glossy or fascinating, but, wow, was I wrong. I watched all 11 episodes at once. It was that good.

There are so many good elements of this drama that I don't know where to begin. The daughter/father scenes are so touching and poignant, everyone acted well, especially the little girl...for someone so young, she's mature beyond her years. The cinematography is breathtaking also, and the ending left me satisfied. Everything came full-circled. Lastly, this has heart, and makes you care and want to invest time in the characters.

It did get a little draggy in the middle, but I can overlook this because of the strong performances from the actors.

6. Nice dorama [Rating: 8/10]
A typical good dorama for me.
Nice story, with its load of small surprises and small twists along the way, the past of the characters is revealed as we go along to keep you interested.

This is mostly a Romance with some comedy brought by the additional characters, in a classical setup.

The acting is flawless from everybody. Yuko Takeuchi is perfect as usual I think, the little girl is very good, and the good surprise for me was Shingo Katori. I usually find male leads quite boring or unable to express anything. He was really good, not that he had the most difficult character, but he did it just right and inhabited the role perfectly. I particularly enjoyed the moments with his daughter.

All in all, not an incredible dorama that I would put in my top10, but a very well crafted and acted romantic dorama.

ok, so i really like the father-daughter relationship, and it's really sweet, it moved me most of the time. but i don't like Yuko's character, i find her annoying. though she was provoked to wreck Eigi's life, i don't really see how sorry she is. and Eigi is way, way too nice to people. but i don't hate him. the storyline is refreshing but i can't help but think that the story puts more focus on the couple and less on the daughter. hmm...

Just finished yesterday night watching "Bara no nai Hanaya", and I loved every minute of it: brilliantly written, acted, directed, photographed, edited...the only thing I didn't like at first was the ending song, but then it grew on me and by the last eps. I couldn't take it off my mind, LOL...

Anyway, I give this dorama a full 10/10! :applaud: :victory:

Depending on where I was in watching this drama, I would have ranked it quite differently. I didn't understand what it was all about in the beginning and did get a bit upset somewhere in the middle, but as this drama went on, it became more more clear that this drama really had a story to tell. It surely isn't your average drama you can watch anytime to relax or whatnot and that's something I ultimately appreciate a lot! I'm still not saying it's faultless and I still think that I wasn't really gripped until about the second half, but by the end I really liked it a lot. The actors deliver stellar performances as a multitude of very versatile and exceptional characters. The music is superb. Apart from the characters and just about the whole story/message(s), I especially loved that this drama had some amazing plot twist, I absolutely didn't see coming. In the end that's what made the drama exciting unto the last episode.

Not necessarily always easy to watch, since

This was a good drama although it felt a little too much kdrama-ish. Katori Shingo plays a flower seller named Eiji who rears a young girl (his daughter) named Shizuku (name for a tear). The mother whom he had loved passed away while delivering the baby. The story starts when the girl is in primary school and Eiji meets a mysterious but beautiful blind girl in front of his flower shop.

The acting is very good in this series and it had so many touching moments although some seemed a little too contrived (ie Korean drama). My favorite aspect of the show was the father-daughter scenes. They were so beautifully crafted with the cinematography and lines, especially those of Shizuku. Although the actress was so young, she was able to execute those lines with such perfection.

Some of the plot elements seemed forced, but it didn't take away too much from the overall effect of this series. I highly recommend watching it.
3. Comments by Sorata [Rating: 7/10]
This dorama was very good, lots of plot twists and some dark stuff. But seriously, Katori Shingo sucks, i donLt know if it was the character or the acting but Eiji(Katori Shingo) was probably the most one-sided character i have ever seen, crying or screaming he only have one facial expression and one tone of voice, this was my first dorama with Katori Shingo and it was a really disapointing performance.
Naoya(Matsuda Shota) gave probably the best peace of acting in the entire dorama, when he calls Eiji in episode 10 to say goodbye, that whole scene was really awesome and by far my favorite of the show.
Mio(Takeuchi Yuko) and Ono(Shaku Yumiko) both had really boring characters but at least they were good eye candy :).
Overall itLs a good dorama, with good plot but bad acting.

Although this drama started off slow, it somehow managed to draw me in unlike any other drama like it. The story and characters was so unique and complex that you had to keep watching it to figure it all out. Katori Shingo truly shined in the role of the somewhat awkward but tough Eiji, while Takeuchi Yuko was lovely as the wounded and intelligent Mio. This drama had the best ending for a drama that I have ever seen. It just tied up the series so wonderfully, but not in an unrealistically perfect way. There will always be questions left unanswered and hardships still to come in their lives, but I was left with a feeling that they'll overcome it all and find happiness.

"Life is Beautiful."

Another Herbivore-men character (After Binbo danshi). But this is very different level, every character has a perfect role. Even shizuku did a great job, she's little and sweet person, i agree when everyone tell she have an angel smile. Terajima susumu also did a great job, i can laughed because of his presence and jokes. Shingo give me a calm feeling, this is the first time i watched him in main role (After Galileo and Mr. Brain), and he already made me respect him. And the Last but not the least... Takeuchi Yuko!!! She's very pretty and mature also cute, i can't describe it, she's a Japanesse Woman type i think.
Theme song: Zutto Isshousa [Yamashita Tatsurou]: 9

So I was interested in watching this as a romance drama about a man who's wife had died, and while raising his daughter by himself, falls in love with a blind woman. May sound a bit boring to many, but seems like a good plot for a romance to me, but anyone who has seen this can tell you that it's definitely not what's advertised. It goes off into all sorts of silly overdone plot twists and intrigue. It presents itself as the type of drama I love, but turns into the type of drama I hate, BUT. Somehow it magically manages to make it all work well. It isn't what I signed up for, and I'm not sure how they made me like this, but I really did like it.
7. Comments by yurifly [Rating: 9/10]
Slow but nicely developed plot and characters. The story about the basic human relationship is very heartwarming and I actually found myself choked up in the last episode in Shizuku and Eiji's scene. The basic premise that blood doesnt define the meaning of family is simple yet we often forgot about it in our busy daily life. Great chemistry between all the cast, a combination of veteran and young actors. The little girl who plays Shizuku steals the show for me and a soulful performance by Takeuchi Yuko like always. Shingo also really fits his role and the appearance of Tamayama Tetsuji is a pleasant surprise.
8. Comments by moonchyld [Rating: 9/10]
this drama was awesome at building mystery and delivering poignant scenes... but the story kinda slid down in the last few episodes; didn't quite live up to all the hype and intensity of the first few, and some points were never properly addressed (eg shingo was so scared of his violent side coming out in one of the first few eps when he saved yuko..) nevertheless, strong acting performances from the leads (esp the kid hehe) make this the best drama of the season.
9. Comments by aiscess [Rating: 8/10]
I could've give it a 9 but with the tons of twist, it gradually made me less interested. The very last twist ruined it all for me. I guess if that last twist didn't happen then it could have been a big challenge for Shingo's character. I would definitely prefer to see Eiji fight back in order to protect Shizuku, too bad it didn't happen. But I must say, it was really nice to see Takeuchi Yuko back on track, hope to see more of her, she's really a good actress.

COMPLETE. HS. this is a drama where you don't know where to start for a review or a synopsis. the very first episode is even filled with spoilers. describing the drama will mean to spat out spoilers. and trying to leave out the spoilers and give a general synopsis is doing no justice to it. the only way, I'm recommending it to everyone in need of a very heartwarming yet unpredictable drama. the last 2 epsiodes however are bit pale compared to earlier one.
11. Comments by d0npian0 [Rating: 9/10]
Great until the 8th episode or so. The tension was there and the plot twist was awesome. Unfortunately, it was revealed too early and the last episodes were just a slightly draggy melodrama.

Katori Shingo seemed a bit stiff and at times not convincing but I still loved his role, Takeuchi Yuko was good as always and the girl playing Shizuku was awfully cute.

Well, I'd recommend it, especially if you love twists (as I certainly do)
12. Comments by nickylynn [Rating: 9/10]
This drama was slow but the development of the characters was well done. The father and daughter was so moving and lovely to watch. The daughter's acting was superb. Although there was sadness...it was realistic. Makes you think about human nature...and the sadness that can come with life. But also to press on and overcome life's sadness because "Life is beautiful." A very good drama.
13. Comments by Nermal [Rating: 7/10]
Well as much as I love Shingo, this wasn't his best drama. It is however a nice tear jerker for sure.

There are just some plots element that are... well too complicated for what they should be really. I wouldn't necessarily say it's a must, but if you feel like a drama that'll make you cry (especially if you are a sucker for family relationships) than I recommend it.
14. Comments by x_XJules [Rating: 7/10]
Surprisingly a good series. I watched the first episode and hated it. Then months later when I was searching for SOMETHING to watch a lot of people recommended this one. So I decided to give it a second try. It's not particularly amazing.. and the ending is almost satisfying. Still the father daughter relationship in this is enough to make anyone's heart melt.
15. Comments by Cerebus [Rating: 6/10]
Twisting and somewhat dark, another revenge mystery which doesn't make very much sense if you think about the methods involved. Somebody should tell Katori Shingo that staring enigmatically into the middle distance and talking like a robot doesn't equate to good acting. His awfulness is more than made up by Takeuchi Yuko who is superb and the blind woman.
16. Comments by natzumi [Rating: 9/10]
One of my favorite drama of the season. I like how it makes me wonder from week to week about the meaning behind all the things that happened in the drama. Katori Shingo's acting is excellent. Yuko's role is great too. They are a great combination and Shizuku is so young yet extremely understanding and intellegent. I definatley recommanded this drama.
17. Comments by EstherM [Rating: 8/10]
Good stuff - a bunch of my favourite actors in one touching, not too light but not too dark neither drama - just wonderful. Except for Katori Shingo, who can't act and looked and talked stupid throughout the drama, the last 15mins of the show are pretty stereotype as well. Nice ending song! And Tamayama Tetsuji
gueststars. Yatta yatta yatta.

THE MOST TOUCHING AND ROMANTIC DRAMA I HAVE EVER WATCHED!!! So surprised of how the story went. I did not expect much of a great show from this but really took me to a higher anticipating level as the episodes progress.. What a show!! You'll be surprised of the twists and unexpected things this drama will expose inside it. Very recommendable.
19. Comments by PaperCaged [Rating: ?/10]
I don't know how I feel about Katori Shingo's acting. His voice was dull and monotonous and he would smile oddly at random moments. I don't know if that was just his character Eiji or actually him. Also, I hated Takeuchi Yuko's character. She was completely predictable. However, I did like the relationship between Eiji and his daughter.
20. Comments by aoi_dolphine [Rating: 8/10]
Shingo charater is quite a humble florist but has a secret which he has kept from his daughter. I was kind of drawn into the little girl who act as his daughter in this drama. Opps forgot that Takeuchi Yoko is back in this drama with tamatetsu playing the bad guy. Overall a well balance cast which makes this drama worth watching.
21. Comments by sweet_tapioca [Rating: 9/10]
Really good touching drama. All the main actors were really good, I especially liked the kid Shizuku, she's adorable. The only thing I didn't like was how nice Eigi was, he was too much, I was getting frustrated with him. Nonetheless, as you watch the show, you begin to appreciate him and the development of this character.
22. Comments by chokakoi [Rating: 10/10]
A very interesting drama that got you addicted after the first 5 mins. The multiple twist and turn, makes you want to watch on. The child actress who acted as Shizuku did a wonderful job, and so does Katori Shingo. A drama which is touching at times, sweet at times and confusing at times. Aha... Recommended!

Thought that this could of been a great romantic drama but misses the mark... good cast...especially the little girl..mask and all.....but the show was kind of draggy at times...... The most annoying and weirdest feature of this show was Matsuda Shota's hair....what was the point....???

what a wonderful dorama. really enjoyed watching it. the story, the casting, the theme song are superb and impressive. Yuko Takeuchi, Nojima Shinji, Tatsuro Yamashita, Yagi Yuki deserved the awards. Would be best if Shingo Katori won the best actor. Cute and gentle O-Hanaya-san.

The little girl is sooo cute in this drama. I really loved this drama and seeing Katori Shingo is this drama made me think he would make a really good father. I think Matsuda Shota likes to have roles where he gets beat up. Oh well. This is definitely a must watch.

I love this. Very touching story with all the twist and turns. Seems like most of the things are beautifully done: Katori + Yuko, beautiful shots, the theme song, and even the drama title. Father-daughter scenes always get me the most T T. Worth watching.

Very good! Heartfelt and moving. This drama starts off dreamy and is very romantic and you get drawn in. The reason I didn't give it a 10 was because for me it falls off track just a bit towards the end, but that's minor. You will love this drama!

takeuchi yuko + katori shingo...nice pair...i kinda wished that the story between the father and the daughter at the end is a bit different but then i think it's only fair with what happened...especially that the show ended with a new beginning...

This is my first Katori Shingo dorama. Something strange happens with this dorama because I watched it like a year ago and I cannot remember anything about it. For me that means that it was entertaining (I finished watching it) but story was weak.

For me, this somehow falls short of being great. The story is good, although I didn't think that it was as dark as what some people were saying. The directing and music were good, there's a very poetic and charming feel to the entire drama.
