One day, Hikaruko Kirishima (Norika Fujiwara) - a famous and popular Actress, appears at Nakata's work. Just by talking to her, Nakata is left standing feeling like he has just seen a dream.

Several days later, Kirishima calls an emergency press conference, where she announces..."I am now dating a gentleman by the name of Sosuke Nakata, a salaried worker, whom I intend to marry."

This story, a funny and romantic love story, follows the footsteps of a man and woman from very different worlds, as they experience the painful and sometimes remarkable ups and downs of love.

1. Stop! In the name of love [Rating: 10/10]
I started to watch this as my latest Japanese drama because it introduced the story as the Japanese take on Notting Hill. I remembered liking that movie and I wanted to watch something romantic, so I started it. It may resemble the American movie, but it's just so much more.

Why do you fall in love with a story? There are some love stories, that you like, or find interesting. Some are cute. But there are still others, that just manage to touch something inside you that others may not. To each its own and no two people are affacted in the same way by a story. This one did manage to touch something inside me. I could never explain why, but I'm glad it did, because it will be a drama I will always cherish. Anyone who knows me may find that strange, as I'm not a romantic type, and generally detest love stories. There was, however, something so pure in this story, that it even broke through my barriers.

It's about two people. One a star, a beautiful actress, who constantly has love affairs, but none of them really touch her heart. Then she meets this man, who is not particularly handsome, nor smart, just a regular man working in an office. But for her, he is the one she had always been looking for. The one who changes everything. It's a Japanese story, so they may or may not get together, but all the same, I still managed to cry a lot.

Please, let them into your heart.

2. Some Good Ol' Romantic Sap [Rating: 8/10]
This was a girly drama through and through, which is probably why I thoroughly enjoyed it even though it was predictable and lacked consistency.

The drama is about a normal Salaryman who randomly meets a mega super star. Through a series of events they get to know each other, and eventually fall in love. Their love is tainted, however, by the fact that they live in two completely different worlds. Before either can even confess to the other, they overthink their situation, at which point enters some healthy angst.

I was pretty indifferent to Kusanagi Tsuyoshi in this drama (though I must admit, I was quite fascinated with his unproportionate body). The supporting cast held some of my usual favourites, such as Toda Keiko and Morimoto Leo, which was dandy. But it was Fujiwara Norika who completely stunned me. Ifve only ever seen her in Akimahende, and wasnft complete partial to her acting. But she totally convinced me in this drama. I even felt for her in the last few episodes. She successfully made me believe in her emotions, I found her smiling face heartwarming. Will I run out and get all her dramas? Probably not, but I thought she was great in this show.

I would recommend this drama to anyone needing some romantic sap to gobble up.

3. IMHO, it was ok [Rating: 6/10]
I loved Kusanagi Tsuyoshi in Narita Rikon, so I was really expecting a lot for this drama. Although compared from his performance in Narita Rikon and this one, I sympathize more for his character in Narita Rikon. Somehow I don't think Kusanagi did give life out of Sosuke Nakata. The story in itself was ok, truly reminiscent of Nottinghill. Just that maybe they overdid the dramatic parts. For example, when the director was explaining about the "chair of destiny" for the drama to seem profound and deep, i thought it was just really it's just plain cheesy. I'm not saying this drama is bad-- its actually really fun watching, especially Sosuke's colleagues who're really funny. I recommend watching it along with a big slice of pepperoni pizza (weird, eh?). But for those who're expecting a realistic and effectively profound story, as well as a really great performance by Tsuyoshi Kusanagi, I'd recommend Narita Rikon.

4. mediocre at best [Rating: 4/10]
spoilers ahead

you know, this show had a lot going for it conceptually. fujiwara norika is staggeringly cute and charming in her role. the whole star-commoner love story has the potential for a very good drama. unfortunately, star no koi didn't live up to it's potential. i found the main guy to be pretty annoying at times. i guess for me there's a point where being too shy or reserved becomes a fault. remember the scene where he coldly tells her that things aren't possible between them and then later cries like a baby. what the heck was that all about? why am i supposed to feel sorry for the guy if he doesn't give something a try. in any case, there were some decent moments in the series as well. but the major issues were played out poorly. oh yeah, the theme song was annoying. "STOP! In the name of God!" replaced the song's real lyrics in my mind.

5. The best ever dorama [Rating: 10/10]
This is my all time favorite Drama. I have watched it three times, and it's made me happy each time. Tsuyoshi Kusanagi is really great in this dorama. I really liked his charactor and the unusual people he worked with. His preformance is 'straight on." Also, like the way that when the story got sad, the billboard with the star had a wallscrawl that said "agony" on it. Which mirrored what the male charactor was going through. The Dorama plays like an Rock Hudson/Doris Day romantic comedy. It even has that 'type' of incidental music. It even has a happy ending! A bonus to this is the guest in the last episode, Shingo Katori. He plays a reporter in the future who is going to write a book over the star's story. This Dorama has it all. My highest recomendations!

6. Pleasant surprise! [Rating: 10/10]
I was DEFINITELY not expecting this series to be that good when I started watching because it seemed like a typical cheesy story, but it turned out perfect. It's true this is impossible in real life, but isn't that why we watch TV, movies and plays?
This dorama has a really nice flow to it. I was cheering for the two of them before I realized it, and Sousuke's coworkers were really funny. The ending was a bit cheesy, but it was still very moving.

I've always liked Globe's "Stop! In the Name of Love", but being a techno/trance song, I didn't think it was a good choice for this dorama, but it seems to fit better and better as the show progressed. There might be something wrong with me, but I almost cried to this Trance song in the final episode.

7. Loved this Drama!! [Rating: 10/10]
I loved this drama, I don't comepletely understand Japanese, but this drama is easy to follow without being boring. All who enjoy romantic comedies will love this one. I have to say, that the summary given above isn't all that accurate, it's more of an surprise meeting rather than a coincidence. I only have a couple of dramas in my collection (One's that I can watch over and over again) and I think I can add this drama to that collection. I sooo reccomend this to any and all who enjoy a good love story, a very satisfying drama. The supporting cast is very funny if not crazy. I could go on and on, but I'll stop here, please see it for yourself, you won't be sorry, that is, if you're a romantic comedy fan.

8. Good first half, terrible second half [Rating: 5/10]
Noriko Fujuwara is great, gorgeous and wonderful in her few TV appearances. However, I can't vouche for Kusanagi Tsuyoshi who is horribly miscasted in this role.

He looks shorter and smaller than Norika and the two don't make a good pair. Eguchi Yousuke will be a much better everyday salaryman than Tsuyoshi.

The first 7 episodes are halirious but the final 4 episodes are horrible when the story is clearly going nowhere, just waiting to come to a stop somehow.

I fast forwarded through the final three episodes and I didn't think I missed anything.

9. Not the best, not the worst [Rating: 7/10]
This love story about love, fame, and the enjoyment of fine ham has an agreeable dramatic arc. However, lead actress Fujiwara comes away looking great but seeming rather wooden, and the central metaphor of "the chair" is pretentious and, yes, wooden.

This is a simple romance that would have been more satisfying if there had been more chemistry between the stars. Given the warm reviews, I was expecting something more. In particular, the last third of the drama loses steam and doesn't seem to know where it's going.

Having never previously been an audience to the performance of Kusanagi Tsuyoshi, I began watching this series in awe at the portrayal of a simple yet gentle ham salesman. The entire opposites attract story was a joy to watch, with an actress falling for a salaryman. Fujiwara Norika delivers a stunning performance as Hikaruko, complete with the subtle art of playing an actress within a dorama. This series instantly became one of my favorite doramas.

The first half of this feather-weight comedy is pure fun thanks to its very creative direction and a nicely fitting music score (except for the theme song that'll send you scrambling for the mute button). At times you even forget that androgynous Tsuyopon has no more charisma than a slice of ham. The second half looks like the writers scratched their head as to what they could come up with, and you'll likely scratch yours as to what they came up with.

A rather enjoyable show. Norika Fujiwara looks every bit the super star in this show. She acted really well here. She can be a glamour puss, a ditzy woman as well as a wide-eye innocent girl all rolled into one.
Storyline is pretty similar to Nottinghill, where a super star fell in love with a 'commoner'.
Kusanagi's role here is alright, a Mr Goody Two Shoes.
A light-hearted comedy with a touch of romance.

Remembering my three sexiest actress in 2004, that are: Naoko Iijima, Eriko Sato and Norika Fujiwara, I decided to watch a dorama of one of them, in this case from Fujiwara. After watching her as supporting actress in Love Generation (1997) and News no Onna (1998) it was time to watch her with the leading role in this funny dorama, a kind of japanese version of Notting Hill.
First of all, The first episode was horrible, I almost shot myself listening all the time that unbearable melody. However, the rest of the show is really much better, funny and easy to watch. I thought it was about the common guy who wants to get the celebrity girl, but it was different. Being calm and realistic, it's he who doesn't want to start any relationship with her, and it will be her who has to take some initiative. If in other doramas the supporting cast has some importance, here it's crucial, because being the main roles, a quite man and celeb who doesn't undesrtand love, they will have the part of weight of the plot, special mention to Hiroko Anzai and Takashi Ukaji's roles. About Norika Fujiwara, her performance was splendid, but due to the needs of the script, maybe she couldn't show all her potencial as an actress. Even so, great for her. Sexy and beautiful as always.

This series really surprised me, it was actually very, very good. I had read reviews that said it was good and the "female" version of Mukodono! however I didn't enjoy "Mukodono!" as much as this series. It had a much more detailed plot and much better acting. The female lead really surprised me with her acting in this series and as always Tsuyoshi acted just as well. Fujiwara Norika really was like a mega superstar and looked the part, too. Very gorgeous and elegant. (Loved the costuming for her - although I rarely notice these types of things in dramas)

I really liked how the series developed, there were times when I wasn't sure where the story was going. There was a review on this series that I read here that said something about how this drama is like some story she would have liked to write. I couldn't help but think the same thing for myself. A cute love story with great characters. A must see!

Why would someone in their perfect state of mind trade Hasegawa Kyoko for Fujiwara Norika...i know i know this is just a fictional work lol...end of rant.
Anyway this was a pretty good dorama, but i didnLt like the two leads, Hikaruko(Fujiwara Norika) had no character development whatsoever, itLs hard to swallow that Sousuke(Kusanagi Tsuyoshi) felt so hard in love with her, she was like an emotionless doll, pretty dull character, Sousuke had character development but was a character boring has hell.
The best thing about this dorama were the guys from the ham store and the beautiful Hasegawa Kyoko, they were all really funny.
In conclusion this is a very generic love story about a salariman who falls in love with an idol, full of cliches and generic dialogues.

I love this drama. It was so sweet, and funny. It made me a fan of Fujiwara, and though I've always liked Tsuyoshi, I have gained and even greater esteem for him after watching this drama. Romantics, this is a drama for you. It was completely enjoyable for me and it never got too melo dramatic The comedic scenes were well placed, Fujiwara was beautiful, and did a very good job switching up acting styles within the drama. Tsuyoshi was very sweet and very likable. Believe it or not it didn't seem so far-fetched that Fujiwara's character would fall for Tsuyoshi's character. He was very endearing. It left me with such a good feeling when it was over. The end does not dissapoint. Oh, Shingo has a cameo in the drama as well.

almost finished watching. While this drama as the slowness which prevent me from enjoying most comedy (especially japanese ones in fact...), I truely like it. Often it's like action is lacking, yet I always have a few good laughs (which is rare on my part) and want to watch again at least some part of it (usually it means having the show running while I'm working).
Hikaruko facial expressions might have a part in this (especially since both her face and expressions remind me of a friend... which increases her sympathy potential ;> ).

Japan's version of "Notting Hill" should've been much better than this. A predicable love story like this requires some charm & finesse, but even the opening episode, which is supposed to capture the viewer, is a disaster, just ridiculous & plain stupid. And the choice of leads is horrible, especially Kusanagi who's the worst actor I've seen in a J-drama. He's acting's just so pathetic. Well, I really can't find anything good to say about this drama. This is one of very few J-drama that I've given up watching. 1-

I did not see the appeal of Fujiwara Norika's character nor could I understand why the (male) drama fans are obsessed with her. I just think she's average and not as appealing as everyone says. And her 80's looking clothes bothered me. Perhaps it was the trend at the time, but it looked really outdated. Mr. SMAP dude was his usual wooden-self and had no appeal, but maybe he just did what the director told him what to do. The drama itself was not bad at all.

Norika Fujiwara plays a star and Kusanagi Tsuyoshi is struck by her..sorta like Mukodono and Notting Hill.. Kusanagi plays his usual self, much like Narita Rikon but Norika plays a different character than the usual 'third party' or 'advisor' part. She's damned gorgeous(when ever is she not?) and Kusanagi is charming as usual..I like it at the end when Shingo(Kusanagi's best friend) appears as guest appearence..

The first few episodes were warm, funny, perfect. Then things started to get weird. Hikariko turned ditsy, a few ill-fitting subplots took over, and the humor weakened. It started to recover towards the climax, but I just didn't feel a strong love between the couple. Still, worth watching if you focus on the first few episodes. Excellent cast overall. And Tsuyoshi's always awesome.

Do famous people really live in such a different world from non-famous people that they cannot love the same? This drama tries to answer this question. The story develops nicely, the cast is good and the supporting cast adds the necessary touches of humor.
It's all predictable and completely unrealistic, but that does not matter for a romantic comedy, does it? I've seen better, but it was well done enough to deserve a 7.

Still finishing...Norika Fujiwara was funny, I think she handled her part for real...the actor is boring. Hasekyo look so young. Norika was the bomb in that show, looks far more beautigul than Kyoko but If I choose today(present) between Norika and Hasekyo, I would definitely choose Hasekyo.

Horrible. Noriko Fujiwara is pouty and ditzy, which gets annoying when is becomes apparent that the plot will get nowhere when both leads go into self denial for at least half the show. Urgh... couldn't help but wish I could yell "get on with it". Could have cut the number of eps by half.

Filed under Fantasy, Romance, Comedy. The first few episodes are fun to watch and as usual it gets a liittle bit draggy towards the end. The female lead is cute+great in protraying an "innocent" star. Yet the male lead has become weaker and weaker to the point that he disgusts me.

Love these series. I know that these series are predictable, but I canft help it. I really enjoy up and down their relationship. I agree with the author (at the last episode), when he say ghe teaches her about life, and she teaches him about loveh. Really recommend this drama.

I've watched this about 5 times now. They showed it again on TV and I thought, I'd be fed up with it and once again got hooked. I don't know what captures me so much about this drama, the story is rather simple, but I think the chemistry of all the actors is just perfect.

Kinda strange basis for the plotline. I like Kyoko Hasegawa's more down-to-earth role, i think she shines more in this role than the other ones i've seen of her where she plays the beautiful but quiet girl (itsumo futari de and tentai kanzoku). Anzai Hiroko is cute too.

RECOMMENDED!!! This is a very light-hearted comedic romance. I enjoyed the first half of the series more than the end. If you are looking for a drama you can take seriously, this might not be for you. If you are looking for a drama to make you smile, look no further!

Norika Fujiwara was very cute and funny, she played the role perfectly in my opinion. Though I don't like the part that she almost get married to a vet, but overall this is a very nice, warm, funny and cute drama. Recommended for those who enjoy romantic comedy.

This drama really makes me laugh. I just cannot believe that Tsuyoshi and Norika have great chemistry..surprisingly they look good together. I love this drama and I've watched in more than once. Two thumbs up for the leading actors...and all of the casts.

Norika is absolutely GORGEOUS in here!! Her dressing is superb and excellent! She's so cute and the performance by that short guy also not bad though he doesnt look good enough with Norika. Anyway, i like this dorama very much. Norika is extremely cute!!

This drama is pretty good! It was very heartwarming and very entertaining. I was touched by the strong friendship between Sousuke-san and his co-workers at San Marco Ham. Plus, Fujiwara Norika is absolutely GORGEOUS as the star, Kirishima Hikaruko!

You either love it or hate it.
Personally I can not understand how I could wait so long to see this great dorama.

The tempo switch mentioned in other voters rating is not expected, but that adds to the flair of the show. Once more, all thumbs and toes up for Fujiwara-san and Kusanagi-san for their excellence on screen.

One of my personal favorites no doubt and highly recommended for anyone who wants a great laugh, some seriousness and much love.

Loveable characters! Kusanagi is a great actor and its funny just how dumb-downed he looks. ALSO: KYOKO IS IN HERE! GOHD I LOVE HER! I didn't know it was her when I first saw the series but the thought of me knowing it was someone I've seen kept coming to mind. GOHD she's HAWT!!

My favorite dorama ever. After watching the first two episodes I didn't really think anything of it. After the 3rd ep I was hooked. And Fujiwara Norika has NEVER looked better. And Hasegawa Kyoko and Hiroko Anzai are also incredible. Great cast + weird story = dorama goodness.

The story was seamless in its presentation. A great cast with superb acting skills. Watching this dorama is like you're actually there with the characters. A very heartwarming romantic comedy. A true classic.

Romantic comedy mania should watch it. Plus you can enjoy the beautiful, elegant, and sometimes funny Norika Fujiwara.

The funniest movie I ever watched (and this is my first dorama). Fall in love with doramas because of this.
