Takenouchi Yutaka acts as a gangster who tries to turn over a new leaf. A new role for him and he really looks the part. Storyline isn't much to talk about. Basically about orphans who grew up on an Okinawan island and their struggles in Tokyo. Focus mainly on Haru. |

So the story wasn't that original....but I still was captivated by the charms of it! Miki Nakatani and Yukata Takenouchi are wonderful in their roles. Ai Kato was also very good in a supporting role!
The ending was so predictable I had it figured long before the characters did. The story keeps it from getting 10/10. |

Quite a nice story. Its not my favorite, sometimes it has very long suspence scenes where you just want something to happen but it doesnt, it can get annoying. Other than that, its a worthy dorama to watch. |

I enjoyed this drama coz I think the story is really sweet and touching PLUS yutaka takenouchi is in it!!!!. Yutaka takenouchi is a really good actor , he can do drama, action, comedy, very versatile and oh so very handsome.
I don't like the character of the main girl becuase she is too innocent and naive for her age that its disturbing and weird. I think their is a lack on character development on her part. I think it would be better if the drama illustrated their relationshiip growing from a brother sister/friend to lovers. they became lovers sooo fast when the fact is they haven't seen each other for a long time, even haru did not recognized ryo. I really enjoyed ryo's character and his character really developed. His willingness to be a better person and to change his ways was worthy of admiratiion. the other characters was okay, the girl who loves the lawyer had little exposure, she should have been taken out of the story. I think she transformed a little too quickly, anyway. the other girl who like ryo, I think her name is nanami. ithe reason for her desire to be an actress was absurd, I think no one in this world would become an actress so that someone they are looking for would see them, she could have just asked some government agency to investigate where her mother is or if she was dead or alive.
what i liked about the drama is that some scenes were really touching and takenouchi's character is soo sweet . Ryo lack some faults though or the drama did not protrayed his bad qualities enoughh. for an ex gangster he sure is perfect. and haru's character Didn't have any !!!!!. I'm sure there is, the drama just didn't show it...nobody can be perfect. I'm sure she was cursing nanami or the other girl in her mind~~ The drama showed more, the faults of the other characters surrounding them. I give this a ten coz its enetrtaining enough for me to finish all the epsiode and the last episode evoked so much a feeling of happiness and envy that I cried and thought to myself "I wish I could find a man like ryu!!!! |

Just how good Miki Nakatani could be started coming clear to me in this one. Hiding in a baggy pair of coveralls through most of the series, she avoided the cute stuff and created a person. A character rather than a cartoon. I enjoyed this one. |

What a whirlwind, well-intertwined, quick-paced, humurous first episode! After 5 minutes I couldn't peel my eyes from the screen. I had avoided this title because I thought it sounded boring, and I only knew that I liked Takenouchi's acting, so I wasn't willing to risk it...but I am glad I finally did! The chemistry between the two leads is perfect and a great comic relief. Kato Ai also sparkles as young as she may be. Overall, I am captured with the good storytelling that makes each episode pass in a heartbeat--it really makes me want more! |

Merry Christmas in Summer is a great drama about Love won and Lost, and Love almost had. I fell in love with this series quickly and was drawn in by the characters and story faster than most other shows (minus SOS, of course). I give this show a BIG thumbs up for creativity and character development, as well as plot twisting things, and showing how some men, and some women can be when in Love. This show is also a great show to watch someone achieving their dreams. |

As much as I like the cast of characters, I just could not get into this story. There were some pretty far-fetched plotlines and although the drama strives to be heartwarming and touching, it just ends up being pretty cheesy.
But I did like how Takenouchi Yutaka's character works hard to change in order to please Nakatani Miki's character. As someone mentioned in the above review, it was definitely their emotional intimacy that drove me to watch and complete this drama. It was pretty cute and was the only thing that made this series even remotely memorable. |

This drama is cute! I was "Oohing" and "Awwing" all the time.
ED Theme by The Brilliant Green is a catchy song and sticks with you. It still stuck with me! |

There's great chemistry between Takenouchi Yutaka and Nakatani Miki and they acted well, but I hardly felt sympahty or concern for most of the characters. The only reason I kept watching it is so I could find out what happens to Takenouchi and Nakatani. The story is quite lacking in substance and the ending falls flat. Loved the closing credits, though. |

Somehow feel that Nakatani Miki is too "deep" an actress to do something so "light". Perhaps I'm too used to seeing her doing stuff with more depth, not so lightweight like this. Hate her moppy hairdo in the show and Takeuchi Yutaka seems to have lost so much weight such that sporting a beardy makes him look like a vagrant on the street :P |
