Synopsis
It was after Ozu passed 50, that he met his first major challenge in life. While working as the branch manager of his bank in New York, Ozu was given an order to do some deals that went over and above the law. He was later caught for being involved in those dealings, and was arrested.

After being released from prison, Ozu returned back to Japan to find that everything he worked for all his life had been lost: his job, his reputation, his family, and all of his possessions. All that he had left were expensive suits, and the label of being an ex-convict.

Ozu gets hired on to be a temporary teacher at a private high school in Tokyo. There is a major problem though...Ozu hates kids. Actually the problem is worse than that, he hates people. He has come to not be able to trust people anymore, so he doesn't even see them as people; which pretty much makes teaching anything to anyone out of the question. To make things worse, the kids at the school that he is now teaching at have lost all of their ambition.

This teacher can't teach children, and he can't be taught.

This story is depicted with a comedic touch, as Ozu and the students go through some violent, yet funny times on the way to his learning some valuable lessons from them.

1. Pretty good [Rating: 7/10]
Sayonara Ozu Sensei is the kind of drama that has moral values in it. In this case, Ozu and 5 students from his class who can't work things out. Eventually, they became close like bestfriends, as problematic conflicts begin to depict in interactions on the moments they had. Ozu learns something from his students, and he begins to show his feelings that he cares about them and people he knows well. The ending theme is also pretty good done by Aiko called, Oyasuminasai (Good night).

A very good drama for everyone! Not just for adolescents.

i really love this drama.. sth abt being human and values that we have..i love the philosophy in here that it is not the students who learn fm the teacher, but the teacher is the one who learns lessons about life fm the students.superb performance fm Tamura and Yusuke..the boyz too!! recommended 4 those who wants inspiring drama..

3. Quite interesting but a bit slow [Rating: 5/10]
Not too bad for a high school drama. Good performance from the kids. For those who like basketball and watching Tamura.

Quite a good dorama. Not as exaggerating as GTO. Worth watching though...

a heartwarming story of an economist becoming a teacher becoz he has no other choice. and this very least path that he chose becomes his greatest, as he learns all of there in life from his students-of kindness, friendship, humilty, forgiveness and reconciliation.. stunning performances from Tamura, Asaka Seto and Yusuke Santamaria..not forgetting the school boys too!

I make it a point to watch any Tamura Masakazu dorama I can get my hands on. I found this one mildly entertaining and appreciated the message of the value of a teacher listening to and "hearing" their students' issues in order to help them. Although this series didn't hold my attention like other Tamura Masakazu shows, it has its merits and is worth a watch.

Da story is quite motivating...Still Tamura Masakazu can act more naturally in this series..I notice da background song is emphasizing da important situation along the series which is good..[Actually I like da song ]...Still if they can make da baske game more lively n tougher...It will be complete.

I would give it only 2 if Tamura wasn't in it. Great expectation watching the first 3 episodes, it started very differently from the other scholl drama, but unfortunatly it finishes like always, very moralist and students loving the super hero teacher. Too usual.

Sigh, this show tried too hard. The school was a little too relistic. Something just didn't work. I think the plot dragged, and it was too pesimistic. They really didn't show the reasons behind anything.

Ozu Sensei certainly doesn't look like an ex-basketball player. An average drama touching on social issues - teenager sex, family abuse, financial woes. Gee, the only thing missing is the 'ketai'.

Standard teacher takes on a class full of bad kids scenario. The only difference is Tamura isn't really a teacher but he does play his usual character (an arrogant jerk).

good drama, but Tamura and those boys can't play basketball!
