I know it speaks true for the reality that is housewives who are trying to break into the business world again, but it really overstressed some stereotypical ideas; for example, the idea that woman instinctually are good at laundry etc, and the longer you do them, the more feminine you become. That was kind of annoying. But Abe Hiroshi is pretty cute in an apron, and I like the lady from Osero, so I let it slide, hahaha... |

Wonderful drama, the special was also very nice, but it still seems like it could open up to bigger things, like what becomes of the kids too...
Abe Hiroshi is perfect for this role, and teaches a life lesson that men are capable of doing house-work, and women should not be treated as if they belong within the confines of a house...
Also, the little kids in this drama, are SO CUTE!!! |

It's interesting to see Abe Hiroshi as a house husband. This drama tackled some representative problems, and treated them with a comic twitch. It would have been more enjoyable if Kawashima wasn't in it. Her character was very similar to her roles in other dramas that i have seen: bossy, pretentious and made me want to punch her. |

Only up to ep.8. Abe Hiroshi's emotional range still needs work, but I liked the story. None of the actors got to an annoying point, which was good. The kids were so cute! I can understand the situation and it was nice how they're trying to work things out. |

April 2007: I enjoyed watching this drama with my mom. It showed us the difficulties of being at stay at home dad/mom in various prespectives. Some of the episodes were really touching, taught us the importance of a family. Learned some tips on dealing the houseworks as well. |

Good, clean family fun! I've enjoyed Abe Hiroshi more in other dramas, but this is definitely one of his best. The relationship between Yamamura (Hiroshi) and Sugio (Miyasako) was the highlight of the series. They're such perfect foils to each other. What drew me in was the concept and how it was put into a great story. From episode one I couldn't help but be interested in Yamamura's trials and tribulations towards becoming an "At-Home Dad." Well worth the watch! |

Overall a "OK" dorama.... but imo the "main" plot is quite boring.. "At Home Dad" just show the every day life of a father doing the house errands....
Because of that many episodes doesnt have any relation with each other whatsoever..... Maybe they could have worked a lil bit more on the plot.
As for the casting.... NaH... Abe Hiroshi is quite annoying as a father. I mean.... not that Abe~san is a bad actor... but hes just not fit for this character.
Nways.... there r many better "family doramas" than "At Home Dad" (beinh HOTMAN the number 1!!!!) |

A family drama about parents switching roles. Abe here was really a father-like figure. His neighbor was also funny especially when Abe keeps stressing at the beginning of the series that guys shouldn't be the one left at home doing the chores. The kids, Rie & Ryota were so cute. |
