Oh wait yeah... The second generation car ran off of garbage, right? |
That's correct. I want to say it was a Mr. Fusion (ala Mr. Coffee). You just need the power to generate the 1.21 jigawatts. |

LOL.
Being an engineering dweeb, it always irked me that they kept saying Jigawatts instead of Gigawatts... _________________

For those out there with HDTVs, what brand/model do you have and what do you like and dislike about your TV? _________________

Memorex Busts Out Budget Blu-ray Player
The MVBD-2510 Blu-ray disc player from Memorex will be available for $269 in November.
Sept. 18, 2008 \ by Arlen Schweiger
We wonft hold our breath that the price is a sign of things to come from other Blu-ray manufacturers, but those looking for a budget Blu-ray player will be happy to hear that Memorex has a $269 model coming out in November.
The companyfs MVBD-2510 looks like it has the basics for the Blu-ray fan who wants the high-def movies and isnft asking for a whole lotta jazz to go with\which, judging from what you told us when asked if you trade up for downloadable extras, is the majority.
With the MVBD-2510 touting BonusView 1.1, and not BD-Live 2.0, the only downside for Memorex is it canft play off of its old marketing slogan, with a Blu-ray spin of course, which could have asked gIs it BD-Live, or is it Memorex?h Theyfll have to wait for the next model I guess.
What the MVBD-2510 does give you is 1080p video in 24p and 60p frame rates, Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio bitstream audio playback, and 7.1-channel HDMI or 5.1 analog output.
It comes in a pretty sharp chassis, too, with brushed metal accents and a white LED display. And of course that price tag is pretty sleek too. |

I saw a similarly priced Blu-ray player at Costco the other day...it was the same price if I remember correctly...I don't recall the manufacturer though...I'm sure it wasn't Memorex (obviously). |

I agree...I still think it makes more sense to opt for a PS3 if you're seeking a Blu-ray player.

Aside from the blue-ray player, it's got internet connectivity built in as well. I doubt anyone would get it just for the player, but games are wide in it's genera now. |

You can always build up an HTPC with a Blu-Ray ROM drive in it.... I think Fry's has been selling the drives for around $150....? _________________

Early Black Friday Forecast: $149 Blu-ray, $499 Plasma
Dealnews has started making its Black Friday electronics sales predictions, and they're looking good if you're waiting to buy Blu-ray and 42 to 50 inch HDTVs.
Sep. 19, 2008 \ by Arlen Schweiger
Take expert predictions however youfd like\therefs a reason wefre not all living in Vegas, just ask the seven out of eight so-called ESPN experts who said the Lakers would beat the Celtics in the NBA Finals a few months ago.
Of course, we love predictions on the whole, though, so we keep eem coming on sports talk, politics talk, celebrity gossip talk ... and electronics talk. Dealnews is already gazing ahead at this holiday shopping season, specifically Black Friday.
Hey, wefre listening. Especially when the website says wefll see 42-inch 720p plasma TVs going for $499. Ifll take two, thanks.
Other speculation includes: $149 Blu-ray player, $199 name-brand Blu-ray player bundled with some discs, $599 42-inch 720p LCD, $699 50-inch 720p plasma, 46- or 47-inch brand-name 1080p LCDs for $799, $99 HD camcorder, $25 7-inch digi photo frame, and a bunch of other nice-sounding deals.
Company CEO Dan de Grandpre is pretty confident about the Blu-ray odds. gMajor tech blogs have predicted youfll see a $199 Blu-ray player on Black Friday. Balderdash, I say! Itfll be much lower: We already saw a $229 Blu-ray player in August, and last year, HD-DVD player prices fell 50% overnight during the march to Black Friday. So, wefre predicting that youfll be able to get a Blu-ray player for an astonishing $149.h
Blu-ray at HD DVD prices? Black Friday canft come soon enough. What kind of prices do you guys predict? _________________

I have two (well, three) HDTV. My first one was a 30" Sony Wega tube unit. Great quality but heavy as *#(%. I want to give it to my parents, but I'm lazy and don't want to lift the set.
My main one is a 46" Panasonic LCD-projection unit. Not wall mountable and takes forever to start up sometimes. Oh and it onlys has one HDMI input, so I need to use the multi-HDMI inputs on the receiver to switch between the satellite, upconverting (multi-region) DVD, and the PS3. But it works for now, until I decide to upgrade it. Prices are getting cheaper for more features.
My third one is a 20" Magnavox unit in my bedroom. It not bright or have wide viewing angles, but it's small and light. But I don't have a HD source. |

I'm surprised someone finally responded... Thanks!
No surprise about the CRT Sony's weight: it must weigh around 120+ pounds at least... _________________
