Yes, I don't like Naruse getting too emotional too. It seems out of character. Its not overacting but more of the fault of direction and characterization. Maybe they are making Naruse into someone with multiple personality disorder. | Spoiler (highlight text to read): | | Naruse/Tomoo/Amano Makoto emotion differs from each other and somehow felt detached when he switches emotions. Amano Makoto is the evil bastard, Naruse Ryo is cool/cold & polite while Manaka Tomoo is the heart. He's turning back to being 17yr old Tomoo with a heart as big as mount Fuji where love reigns true. I don't like Naruse/Tomoo crying too much though. |
Episode 10
Naoto... Naoto made me cry. An emotional episode. The side characters are getting interesting and the actors did great.
| Spoiler (highlight text to read): | | I hate seeing Naruse break and maybe finally am siding over to Naoto. I hate being disloyal to Naruse. I hate the preview for revealing too much. I hate the crying near the church. I hate Yamano. |
Everything else was lovely. Its like riding a 45 minute roller coaster and I'm enjoying the adrenaline rush. _________________

I'm a dork but just discovered the director for Episode 10 is the same as Episode 7. Both have teary scenes aplenty. I hope he's not handling the last one.. _________________

I certainly hope so too. I mean,I don't mind Naruse having emotions but he should not look so emotional in front of others.I think it'd be so much better if he only shows his emotions when he's alone.
Anyway, episode 11 looks so so so good!!! I cannot wait for it.I think it's been a pretty long time since I anticipate the next episode of a drama so eagerly.I am so glad I watched this drama. |
you just started watching this right? imagine those who's been following Maou from the start.. the wait is excruciating
dreading the ending. i hate already knowing what's going to happen. damn the preview. | Spoiler (highlight text to read): | no consideration whatsoever for those who have seen Mawang.. |
I don't like the direction for episode 7 & 10.. oh please no more from that director. Trying to squeeze tears from the audience is such a cheap trick and Ohno seems like he lets his emotion out of control under that man direction. I prefer him to be in control. _________________

Maou Episode 10
12.3%
My least favorite episode in the whole series but yey! for the ratings despite 70,000 Arashi fans was out partying at the National Stadium.
*does the sparkly I.TAKE.YOUR.RYFE.FOREBAH robot dance*
Its so cute knowing that the Arashi family love watching Maou too. Sho mentioned in the Saturday's concert MC, his whole family was glued in front of the TV watching Maou as he arrived home. Ohno's father was teary eyed as he opened the door for his son. Ohno asked why and his father said he just finished (or was watching) the latest Maou episode. _________________

Yep yep yep...I agree. He did seem to be on the verge of losing it.His determination to avenge his brother seemed questionable in those instances. I mean, how could someone who made the vow to avenge his brother by killing those involved be swayed so easily? And as for Naoto, though I feel sorry for him for having to go through all these, I'd be disgusted if Tomoo did not finish what he set out to do. |
I was actually referring to Ohno emoting excessively I tend to separate the actor from the character at times and it does seems like Naruse wasn't suppose to emote that much. He's the kind of guy who would keep in mind of the Plan in every action he does so I didn't agree with direction/acting. It was beautifully subtle on other episodes except on some parts in 7 & 10... especially 10 (7 was beautiful.. just some annoying details here and there.. )
However I understand Naruse is suppose to break. | Spoiler (highlight text to read): | | He had been living a lie by being this stoic & manipulative person for 10 years. The loving Tomoo in him is fighting to see the light because he unexpectedly found love in Shiori, Sora, and Neesan. Like he said, "that person vanished the day Hideo died" but he was wrong. That kind hearted, loving Tomoo lives. Maybe he's finally realized there's more to life than HIS revenge but its impossible to stop now. Both Tomoo/Naruse & Serizawa are narcissist actually. They are both similar. |
gosh.. i love this drama _________________

Lol...Now that I read your post again,it does seem this way.I can't separate the actor from the character though, because other than Ikuta Toma, this is the first time I realise the existence of the other actors.I believe this is Ohno's first drama as well? He is a pretty good actor and I think he should be given more roles in the future. |
hahah.. sorry . I've been stuffing my head with everything Arashi this past year, its easier for me to know how Ohno works. Totally forgot people are just discovering him with Naruse . Its his first drama but the guy a seasoned stage actor (thank god for fancams and Arashians) and he usually is a dazed dork.
I want to see him acting in more dramas! A cool character again. Its very rare to see him as cool as Naruse.
SUBS! SUBS!
*flails*

I heard TBS stopped crunchyroll from streaming Maou. For those who rather watch streaming (with subs) you can check it out at http://www.mysoju.com/maou/ . Episode 10 is still not uploaded yet. _________________
