No, because the subs didn't match. ConvertX 3 will join 2 movie parts into 1 Smile

Is this seriously the only way of getting movies that are broken up into 2 parts into 1 single part?

Nope.

A lot of movies that are available are broken into two parts (or more) just to keep them under 1GB.

I just hardsub the two parts using VirtualDub as if they were separate episodes, then join them together afterwards, using VirtualDub...

What A-Dad did was a special case.

Does it join 2 parts even with softsubs? And how do I go about doing the joining thing? I think I tried it once, but it didn't work. Sweat If it doesn't work, I'm considering beem's method because it bothers me when movies have a break in the middle where the 2 parts are supposedly connected.

With VirtualDub it's as simple as appending one to the end of another... Victory! Peace!

Mortal Kombat 5? What's an MKV? Sweat

And I have another question/problem (waits for the rolling of eyes to commence Beaten):

I recorded something from the TV, but when I put the file on my computer and authored it to DVD, the pic was skinny and did not take up the whole screen. The subtitled parts were really low on the bottom of the screen and even got cut off during certain times. Is there a way to fix this?

Matroska http://www.matroska.org/ another video "container". You see a lot of anime in this format.

It's probably been encoded in 16:9 aspect ratio instead of 4:3, you can change the setting in ConvertX.

Thanks for the MK5 explanation. Good thing I'm not into anime anymore so I don't have to deal with any other headaches when authoring stuff.

I think I tried this, but it didn't work. I'll try it again just to confirm and I'll post my result here.

For your pic being cut off, in addition to the aspect ratio, check the video resizing.

Yes, I'm bumping this thread again. Miss me? Muack

Anyway, the sound and pic of episode 3 of Dekichatta Kekkon is off. When I watch the .avi file on my computer, it's fine. When I author it to DVD, the pic and sound are ok for about 5 minutes or so and when there seems to be a commercial cut, the pic and sound do not match up. This is about a 5-second delay, which is quite humorous, I have to say when the male voice comes out when the female's mouth is moving, but it bothers the heck out of me. Any ideas what to do?

Hmm, never seen this where in the same episode there are audio problems. Check in convertx if there is an offset for the audio or video. Read this for help setting offsets- http://forums.vso-software.fr/guide-how-to-manually-add-a-delay-on-a-stream-t5069.html Or you could try processing the file through virtualdub and then converting it.

If all else fails, I'll give it a try. I just like programs that take less time to deal with. Besides, my tiny brain can't take all the confusion with all the extra programs. Sweat

There's no confusion, just laziness.

It's like buying a cake vs. baking one yourself.

You got me there. I'm lazy. But I still do get confused too. Sweat
