New drama for Norika:

Norika Fujiwara stars as obstetrician in "Gyne"
Fri, September 4, 2009 (6:14pm EDT)
Actress Norika Fujiwara (38) will star in NTV's "Gyne: Sanfujinka no Onnatachi," her first season-long drama series since 2007. The story is a human drama set in the medical world.

"Gyne" takes place in the Obstetrics and Gynecology department at a university hospital. Fujiwara plays a reticent obstetrician who rarely smiles. Ever since a traumatic incident, she has had little interest in anything other than saving patients.

The series also deals with problems in the current state of the medical field. It is based on a book by Dr. Takashi Okai titled "No Fault," which focuses on a policy protecting doctors from the high risk of litigation. In addition to the issue of lawsuits, the story looks at the shortage of doctors and the long working hours.

To prepare for her role, Fujiwara recently spent some time at a hospital interviewing doctors and observing a Caesarean section delivery.

"Gyne" will air on NTV at 10:00pm on Wednesday nights, starting in October. The supporting cast includes Yuka Itaya, Yuki Matsushita, Hashinosuke Nakamura, and Norito Yashima.

It's interesting to think of her as a humorless Doctor.
Usually she is sizzling!. Or at the very least irreverent Victory! Peace!
Ive been partial to her since I saw Naomi. Victory! Peace!

Great news. Looking forward to seeing this drama. Norika Fujiwra has been one of my top favs since her great role in Star No Koi. Bow
I still rewatch portions of that drama many times.

It was also my first introduction to a SMAP guy and I still maintain that Kusanagi Tsuyoshi is a great dramatic/comedic actor... far better than his singing. Applaud

And his antics certainly match our biggest Hollywood stars too. Nut

Now that is one lovely photo of Noriko. I have admired her for a long time and wondered why she did not do more dramas. I guess her marriage took up a lot of time. She was back recently with a drama about horses or racing. Not sure of the title and no subs sadly. She is a good actress
I especially remember her in a very strong drama with Osawa Takao and they had some very hot love scenes. Long time ago.

Remember her in a SMAP skit with Takuya Kimura doing his horny Pink Poodle. They know one another and she is friends with his wife. It was funny seeing them trying to be in a love scene but they were laughing so much even Kimura broke up and it was more successful than if they kept to the script. She is one natural funny actress as well as dramatic roles.

She's real and she's spectacular:

Norika Fujiwara denies plastic surgery rumors

On September 7, actress Fujiwara Norika updated her blog and denied reports on plastic surgery.

Fujiwara wrote, "Ah, there has been some gossip about me on the online news." She then introduced some things that were written about her, "'Okamegao' (round face with a low small nose and high flat forehead) and chubby face." On this, she explained, "My face has always been round since I was a child. When I'm tired, my lymph nodes swell up. So everyday, I have to massage it during my bath."

She continued, "Nip and tuck? Hyaluronic acid injections? I've never had plastic surgery or injected hyaluronic acid in my life." Finally, she stated, "When you bad mouth someone you don't know very well, you'll pay for it someday. That's what my grandma said. She also said that when people say bad things about me, they also give me their luck. So, thank you."

Norika Fujiwara and Ainosuke Kataoka announce their marriage

Kataoka Ainosuke and Fujiwara Norika announced on 30 March that they had submitted their marriage registration at a Tokyo ward office on the same day. In the fax statement to the media, they also mentioned that they will be holding a marriage announcement press conference together on 31 March.

Kataoka and Fujiwara were first romantically linked in May last year when there were rumours of them cohabiting which were denied by him via his blog. Subsequently though, the rumours brought the longtime friends together and they announced in August the same year that they had started dating.

Kataoka had been previously romantically linked to another celebrity Kumakiri Asami since February 2013. However, at the time of his cohabiting rumours with Fujiwara, Kataoka revealed for the first time that he had already broken up with Kumakiri some time ago which was denied by the latter on TV. As such, this led Kataoka to declare that he had never two-timed in his life when he revealed that he was dating Fujiwara. On the other hand, Fujiwara was previously married to comedian Jinnai Tomonori from May 2007 until they divorced in March 2009.
