Nope I have only read the first two volumes of the Manga - will check it out though. Mr Green .

I finally watched Kamikaze Girls - I loooooove the book, which is way funnier (who would have thought that internal world of a sweet lolita) than the movie but it's quite cool despite Fukada Kyoko. Nice little movie on Japanese youth culture.

Okay, finally watched Departures and I can see why it won an Academy Award.

Just one comment about Ryoko Hirosue. I've never been a big fan of hers in dramas (Beach Boys, Dechikatta Kekkon), but this is the second movie I've seen her in, the other one was Bubble Fiction, Boom or Bust and both times she's been real good! Maybe she should stick to movies.

My feeling exactely! Victory! Peace!

Not a Japanese movie per se but I will go and see Blood+ the last vampire this weekend. ItLs based on Japanese source material and it stars Koyuki.

Do I believe itLll be any good? Nope, I expect it to be terrible but I would go and see any Japanese movie (or starring Japanese actors) thatLs actually released in Brussels.

I watched Negative Happy Chainsaw Edge last night - a bit random and some script holes. I'm quite indifferent and I felt it didn't deal properly with the death of a beloved person.

There's only three reasons to watch the live action Blood:The Last Vampire: 1)To see Jun Ji-Hyun(a great Korean actress I might add) 2)To see a girl hacking and slashing in a sailor suit school uniform 3)To see Jun Ji-Hyun hacking and slashing in a sailor suit school uniform. Koyuki is barely in it. The few movies and dramas I've seen her in didn't impress me and this sure didn't help.

Went down to Little Tokyo. Took in Ohayo
It's a pretty good movie. Little Shimazu Masahiko steals the show as Isamu.

In keeping with my going thru the Live Journal dramas/movies, I just d/l
"check It Out Yo" movie. Watched the first few minutes on computer before I make it into a DVD for real watching on TV. It seems to start out in a way that I think I will enjoy it a lot. Meanwhile continuing with Anmitsu Hime that I mentioned in the drama forum (by accident when it's difficult to change forums in the middle of a sentence). Bonk

Now I know why I like Anmitsu Hime so much. The princess is none other than Inoue Mao from HYD. HYD is one of my all time favorites and in Anmitsu she is like a continuation of HYD.

Inoue Mao is delightful and charming in Anmitsu Hime. I thouroughly enjoyed watching her antics. On the down side, it's a little too fanciful, mangaish for my taste.... but manga people should love this. 8/10
w00t!

Plodding through Check It Out Yo!. And I mean plodding. If this were a drama I would have quit in the first episode. Since it's not a very long movie I'll continue to the end.... why you ask.... well there are some cuties worth watching (for me anyway)... It's worth about 2/10,

Since I'm a fan of the NHK Taiga Drama Fuurin Kazan, I thought I'd check out the 1969 movie version starring Toshiro Mifune and directed by Hiroshi Inagaki. This was 2 hours 45 minutes wasted. Every character was flat with no development. Scenes kind of just tripped from one to another like George Lucas was directing. The director took all the stunt people, horses, costumes, and landscape and made massive battle scenes look like a high school auditorium play. There really wasn't anything memorable about this movie.

Mao-chan is very cute in Anmitsu-hime Smile

it seem they didn't have any good JPN movies this year going to japan from the US. Here is the list of films i saw during the flight to & from:

Kafu wo Machiwabite (Jt[҂т) - very disappointed in this movie, as it is set in okinawa (and anyone who knows me, i love all things okinawan)

The Triumphant Return of General Rouge
http://asianmediawiki.com/The_Triumphant_Return_of_General_Rouge
Stars abe hiroshi, Yūko Takeuchi, & Michiko Hada and others. with a cast this good, you figure it was at least decent. It wasn't.

The Gift
http://www.tbs.co.jp/movie/english/thegift/
It was decent, but nothing to get excited over.

PARTNERS : CSI FILES - very japanese formulaic buddy cop movie

DEPARTURES - wanted to see this but didn't have enough time

Hula Girls - this was an older movie that i have already saw.

Althought there was one that was worth mentioning that was pretty good:
Oppai Volleyball (Oppai Bare)
http://asianmediawiki.com/Oppai_Volleyball
Very funny, a-la waterboys/hula girls, etc. If you have a chance, check it out.

- niko
