Kiritani Mirei holds release event for her 1st calendar photo book
On October 14th, actress Kiritani Mirei held a release event for her 1st calendar photo book, �etoi et moi�e.
The calendar was shot in Paris and Tokyo, and it even features pictures of the actress in swim suits. She expressed, �gI�fm very happy. I�fve always wanted to release a calendar, so it�fs like my dream has come true.�h
In Paris, Kiritani had a photo shoot at over 10 locations. She shared, �gDuring breaks between shoots, I went to a hat shop I wanted to go to, and got a semi-custom hat made.�h
Kiritani stated that the highlight of the book are pictures she took with the conscious of an adult. �gIt�fs filled with a lot of Kiritani Mirei, so please look for something you like.�h

Mirei Kiritani to star in TV Asahi 2016 Winter drama
Kiritani Mirei will be taking on the lead role in the upcoming TV Asahi's Winter 2016 drama "Sumi ka Sumire" (Sumi or Sumire" which will begin its run from January 2016 in the Fridays 11.15pm timeslot.
The drama which is based on the same-titled manga by Takanashi Mitsuba currently published in the monthly manga magazine "Cocohana", features Kiritani in the role of a 65-year-old woman named Sumi who never had a boyfriend nor got married due to having to take care of the family business and her parents. After her mother passed away and Sumi is left alone, she tries to find a photo to be used at her mother's funeral and accidentally gets her finger cut by a folding screen which has the picture of a black cat and rabbitear iris. This causes her blood to stain the screen and makes the black cat take on the form of a human being. When the black cat offers a wish to Sumi, she asks for a chance to relive her life thus allowing her to transform into a 20-year-old pretty woman. With her newly regained youth, Sumi calls herself Sumire and aims to relive her life as an university student with her 65-year-old soul in a 20-year-old body.
Kiritani commented that she finds it difficult to imagine herself at the age of 65 so she tried to observe the people around her who are in their 60s in order to prepare for her role. Despite her apprehension, the producer said that this was a good thing because that is also what Sumi should be feeling due to her sudden transformation.

Mirei Kiritani to star in Fuji TV 2016 Summer drama
The production press conference of FujiTV Summer 2016 Gekku "Suki na hito ga iru koto" (Having someone I like) was held online via YouTube, LINE LIVE and Twicast on 1 May which was attended by cast members Kiritani Mirei, Yamazaki Kento, Miura Shohei and Nomura Shuhei. The love comedy which will be shown from July in the Mondays 9pm timeslot, is set at a seaside restaurant where Kiritani's character who aims to be a patissier, goes to work part-time and spends a summer with three handsome brothers played by Miura, Yamazaki and Nomura.
Kiritani plays the role of Sakurai Misaki who hopes to open her own job and works hard at being a patissier to the extent that she has even forgotten the feeling of falling in love and kissing a guy. One day, she is suddenly fired from her job and unsure of what the future has in store of her. Coincidentally, she bumps into Shibasaki Chiaki (Miura) who used to be her first love during their senior school days. Upon hearing what happened, Chiaki offers to let Misaki work part-time at their family's restaurant in Shonan.
Misaki realises later that Chiaki has two younger brothers also living at the restaurant. Toma (Nomura), the youngest brother who is attending cooking school and aims to be a chef, is a playboy while Kanata (Yamazaki), the second brother is a talented chef who doesn't recognise Misaki's skills as a patissier and the two of them are always at odds with each other.
According to FujiTV, more than 600,000 tuned in to the live broadcast online while the photo of the cast posted on Twitter gathered more than 100,000 reactions (40,000 retweets and 64,000 likes) in just two hours. There are plans for videos of the press conference to be released at a later date.

Mirei Kiritani to star in FujiTV 2017 Spring drama
Kiritani Mirei will be starring in the new FujiTV Spring 2017 drama "Hito wa mitame ga 100 percent" (A person is 100 percent about her appearance) which will begin its run from April 2017 in the Thursdays 10pm timeslot. The drama which is based on the same-titled manga by Okubo Hiromi, features a group of women working in the scientific field who are so caught up with their work that they forget how it is to pay attention to their attention thus earning them the nickname "Joshi Modoki (JSM)" (fake women).
Kiritani plays the lead character Jonouchi Jun who is a researcher working in a paper manufacturing company and has been pouring all her energy into her work that she totally ignores what it means to dress up like a woman and care for her looks. As such, she has had little luck with men all along. However, when she realises that she is in danger of becoming a JSM, she gets together with her fellow female researchers to make an effort in changing their appearances and make themselves more beautiful.
Kiritani commented that although she thinks that being neat and clean is more important than appearance, she hopes to be able to convey the original manga's concept of how looks are important to women. As for the author Okubo, she expressed anticipation at seeing Kiritani play the lead character and seeing her wear a researcher's white robe. According to the staff, the drama will feature some original stories and characters who do not appear in the drama.

Mirei Kiritani to star in new movie "Revenge Girl"
Kiritani Mirei will be starring in the new movie "Revenge Girl" which will be directed by Miki Koichiro and released in cinemas from 23 December. The movie is based on the novel written by Kiyo Tomohide and Yoshida Erika which will be published this autumn.
Kiritani plays the lead character Takaraishi Miki who is a 24-year-old OL. She graduated as the top student from University of Tokyo and had also won the Miss Campus title thus making her appear as the "perfect" girl with brains and looks. However, her biggest flaw is her ugly personality which she doesn't realise. One day, her boyfriend who aspires to become a politician dumps her thus leading to Miki resolve to become a politician and the Prime Minister one day so as to get back at him.
Kiritani commented that her character's idea of wanting to become the Prime Minister because she fell out of love is something that she can never come up with or imagine so she finds it very interesting. As such, she will try her best to play this cheerful and energetic character in the hope that this will become a source of encouragement to all the women out there. Just two years ago, she was still playing a senior high school student in the 2015 movie "Heroine Shikaku" so she also hopes to show her growth over this period by playing an OL this time.

Mirei Kiritani and Shohei Miura announce their marriage
Mirei Kiritani and Shohei Miura have announced their marriage.
In a joint statement, the couple said, "While spending time together as co-workers, we were drawn to each other's personalities and started dating with marriage in mind. We each have many things that the other doesn't, so we feel that we will be able to support each other and overcome any hardships that we might face in the future."
Kiritani and Miura co-starred in the 2016 drama 'Suki na Hito ga Iru Koto'.

Mirei Kiritani announces first pregnancy
On February 4, actress Mirei Kiritani announced via her Instagram account that she is expecting her first child.
She wrote, "I have an announcement for everyone who always supports me. At this time, I have been blessed with a baby inside of my stomach. I am anxious everyday because this is my first, but I am spending each day quietly and happily while awaiting the day I get to meet my baby."
She continued, "I plan to continue working as much as I can while monitoring my physical condition. I wanted to let my supporters know first. Please continue to support me."

Mirei Kiritani gives birth to first child
On July 6, actress Mirei Kiritani updated her Instagram account announcing the birth of her first child, a baby boy. Her husband, actor Shohei Miura also made the announcement via his Instagram account.
Kiritani wrote, "I am very sorry to be talking about my personal matters, but I gave birth to a baby boy the other day. Thankfully, both myself and baby are healthy." She expressed, "I am thankful that he was born healthily. From now on, we will do our best as a family."
