Boku dake no Madonna [僕だけのマドンナ]
Unconvetional and funny love story for a die-hard dreamy romantic like me. I can watch 10 times and cry and laugh 10 times with it. Love the cute cast. Ignite my imagination & makes me want to write a story. I actually tried to refrain myself from watching too fast because I didn't want to part with the drama so quickly but alas still got panda eyes from chasing after it. I think life should be like that huh...
Brand [ブランド]
10 out of 10, if not, 11! One of the best drama with thought-provoking conversations and real-life issues. Great soundtrack & great performance from the cast, nevermind that they are not as popular as Kimura. You can grow on the lead actor's looks. I can only say it takes a mature audience to appreciate it. If you like dreamy, teenage romance or easy-to-understand scripts, you won't be touched by this drama.
Hoshi no kinka 1 [星の金貨]
Touching and good plot that makes you look forward to the next episode. Great soundtrack. This is better than its over-tragic sequel.
Ichi Ritoru no Namida [1リットルの涙]
I cried from episode 1 all the way to the last. It's not a tragic tragic plot that just wants to squeeze tears out from the audience. It's heartwarming and at the same time breaks your heart!! Makes you appreciate your health and life better. Gd values instilled, great soundtrack by K, great acting, heart-rending story without nonsensical tragedy. A classic!
Itoshi Kimie [愛し君へ]
This drama is filled with so much love it makes you cry and cry. It's not tragic but shows how the many different types of love give one strength in times of life's obstacles. Shiki's love and strength touches me deeply. Beautiful soundtrack that lingers in your ears for a long time...
Lunch no Joou [ランチの女王]
I simply love comedys about food so this one is no doubt one of my fav! I love the wacky Japanese humour and share the same sentiments for food as the characters in the drama. This drama has me laughing out loud and crying. A delightful drama that can bring joy to its audience. If your food hasn't been accompanied by your tears, you haven't quite lived life to the fullest!
Majo no jouken [魔女の条件]
Great soundtrack, bold plot with a controversial issue, great dialogues. Go watch & ponder about it, see if you can accept love affairs like this. It's in my collection for sure.
Over Time [オーバー・タイム]
Watched the last few episodes don't know how many times & cried along with it that many times too. Very real and heartwarming which makes you want to hug the pillow and shriek and sigh. Ending is sad yet heartwarming at the same time becuase it's so real. My first fav jap drama. After watching on TV I bought the vcds. Cute cast too.
Slow Dance [スローダンス]
I luv this dorama! Top rate cast top rate acting. The conversations are meaningful and lead actress' sentiments are similar to mine :-(

Fujiki Naohito [藤木直人]
A natural actor, beautiful side profile and most perfect nose! Hahaha!
Hasegawa Kyoko [長谷川京子]
I like her because I've liked her since her modelling days many years back before she was even well-known as an actress. Surprised to later see her on dorama.
Iijima Naoko [飯島直子]
Beautiful & a great actress who can take many different roles.
Kuroki Hitomi [黒木瞳]
She's my role model to reaching 40s! She's a great combination of beauty, sophistication & talent. No wonder she's always attracting the younger men in dramas. Hahaha!
Takenouchi Yutaka [竹野内豊]
The first time I saw the actor, I was like "wow, how can anyone's looks be so perfect", tall, broody and handsome. Then he further proved his acting with the varied roles all done so perfectly. So he is one brilliant package.
Takizawa Hideaki [滝沢秀明]
He has tried different roles and did well so he's more than good looks. Plus I feel I can gaze at him for a long long time and never get tired of his face. Love his mole, eyes, lips and perfect face shape, a perfect combination!
Tsumabuki Satoshi [妻夫木聡]
Watched him in Orange Days & Lunch no Joou. The 2 varied roles are already enough for me to vote this actor because he portrayed these two characters so differently it's amazing! He also has an ultra-pleasent face which I can never get tired fo seeing, kind of sweet... have watched more of his movies & I will be collecting most of them. Excellent actor!

Ai no Uta [あいのうた]
Rating: 7/10 (Bought & Watched)
some scenes were very touching and plot was also thought provoking but there's juts something missing... maybe after watching many doramas my expectations became higher...
Ai wo kudasai [愛をください]
Rating: 7/10 (Bought & Watched)
Unusual plot with very true pyschological issues, a tad too draggy with repeated flashbacks and dialogues, delivery did not manage to make me sympathise with lead actress much.
Anego [アネゴ]
Rating: 9/10 (Bought & Watched)
Funny! To know the thoughts that went thru the lead cast's mind made me laugh like mad. It also truly refelcted the dilema of reaching the marriageable age and facing obstacles one after another.
Antique [アンティーク〜西洋骨董洋菓子店]
Rating: 10/10 (Bought & Watched)
You'll love the ambience and mood of this drama. It reminds me of a cake restaurant in Europe attended by wacky Japanese men. All the cakes are so yummy and pretty it makes you want to learn bakery and set up your own cake shop. Fabulous performance by all 4 actors. Quirky Japanese humour that catches you off guard and makes you laugh out loud at all episodes! What more to ask for - funny, great cast, totally enticing cakes & restaurant. A great drama that lifts your mood after watching.
Attack No.1 [アタック No.1]
Rating: 7/10 (Watched)
Quite a typical dorama about sportsman fighting spirit but some good and touching scenes though...
Beautiful life [ビューティフルライフ]
Rating: 6/10 (Watched)
There's alot of hype over this drama and I can't understand why... typical plot of cute guy falling for a crippled girl rite? That's all rite? Nothing unique and I can't recall much of it. Soundtrack is very good though...
Blackjack ni Yoroshiku [ブラックジャックによろしく]
Rating: 7/10 (Bought & Watched)
The beginning was very good but story did not pick up later on. I like how the story depicts the dark side of medical healthcare and leaves viewers feeling paranoid about trusting doctors. Issues are very real and thought-provoking.
Boku dake no Madonna [僕だけのマドンナ]
Rating: 10/10 (Bought & Watched)
If you are into plot, don't watch this, if you are into quirky conversation & character development, it's a must-see. And if you are into Tackey, collect this! I thnk that's how jdrama has a special place in my heart, its colloquial dialogue always captivates me & very few other country's produce can match up. I enjoyed the journey with the two characters tremendously. Very kawaii cast too. One of the best romance comedy!!
Brand [ブランド]
Rating: 10/10 (Bought & Watched)
If there's a 11/10 score I would choose it! This drama portrays many real-life issues which to me are close to heart & what I can relate to. Once again the interesting dialogues and character development made me hooked and buffled. I was searching for it for yrs and finally managed to buy from HK. After 4 yrs and watched it the 2nd time, I am able to appreciate the issues at a deeper level. It's one drama that leaves me with lots of thoughts and reflections on life, one that requires a mature audience to unravel the underlying meanings of the scripts. The cast is very attractive and the soundtrack beautiful! One of the best ever!!
Cheap Love [チープラブ]
Rating: 6/10 (Watched)
So so... he's a tad too unlucky.
Densha Otoko [電車男]
Rating: 7/10 (Bought & Watched)
Train man does nothing but cry. Is it a true story? Find it hard to believe a beautiful woman would fall for a man like this. But the internet chat and characters are extremely funny, prefer to watch them than the couple.
Dragon Zakura [ドラゴン桜]
Rating: 9/10 (Bought & Watched)
Interesting episode one after another, cute students. I've learned some new knowledge as well... some scenes are too unreal though.
Golden Bowl [ゴールデンボウル]
Rating: 8/10 (Watched)
Nice, touching, funny, handsome Aniki! Attractive lead actress.
Hana Yori Dango [花より男子]
Rating: 9/10 (Bought & Watched)
Silly, unrealistic, some dialogues don't make sense. Shun tried too hard to be dreamy! Typical Japanese ridiculous plot BUT superbly entertaining! Afterall it's manga right? Hahaha!
Hero
Rating: 9/10 (Watched)
A bit unbelievable, but nevermind it's still engaging & developed fast enough for impatient audience. Kimura always has that SAME expression & acting but nevermind too, it sells! Hahaha!
Hoshi no kinka 1 [星の金貨]
Rating: 10/10 (Watched)
Can't wait to watch the next episode each time one ends! Very touching, great cast with excellent acting. One of the best dramas during then. Nice soundtrack too. Better than its sequel.
Hoshi no kinka Season 2 / Zoku hoshi no kinka [續。星の金貨]
Rating: 8/10 (Watched)
Can be excessively tragic and repetitive. It's as if there's a curse on Aya! Part one is better. But Takenouchi's love for Aya broke my heart, especially the last scene at the airport on choosing the rose, weepy.
Ichi Ritoru no Namida [1リットルの涙]
Rating: 10/10 (Bought & Watched)
At first, Ryou reminded me of a drug addict Takizawa Hideaiki & Aya eerily reminded me of Superproject Idol Kelly Poon. Nevertheless I cried from episode 1 all the way to the last and slowly fell in love with the cast. .
Rating: 10/10 (Watched)
The first 3 episodes progressed rather slowly, but after that, I couldn't wait to see the next episode one after another. The delivery by the director made me fee like I was part of the cast, seeing from the characters' eyes. Shiki's love and strength touches me deeply. Kanno Miho's acting is indeed superb! Subtle yet naturally convincing. When she cries I want to cry too. The story portrays the different types of love & sacrifice in times of obstacles. Very moving story that lingers in my mind even after I've finished watching. Beautiful soundtrack too.
Jyoou no Kyoushitsu [女王の教室]
Rating: 8/10 (Bought & Watched)
entertaining... lessons to be learnt by adults heehee...
Kamisama mou sukoshi dake [神様、もう少しだけ]
Rating: 6/10 (Watched)
Typical merry-go-round drama! My friend cried like hell but to me it felt like a broken record. It was touching initially but got on my nerves after a while when incidents kept disrupting the romance just when it was about to bloom. Why so tragic?! The writer got carried away & thre logic out of the window! I watched all the way because of Kaneshiro. Sountrack by Luna Sea was unforgetable
Kiken na Aneki [危険なアネキ]
Rating: 3/10 (Watched)
Stupid comedy, got on my nerves rather than made me laugh. Stopped at episode 3 and decided not to waste precious time. Itoh misaki though pretty, was so bimbo in the show.
Kinyoubi no Koibitotachi e [金曜日の恋人たちへ]
Rating: 3/10 (Bought & Watched)
I felt I was being led round and round, going in circles, I wonder if the cast ever get bored acting it. Even the music which sounded good began to irriate me after it was played like a broken record. Poor directing and script though good acting from the 2 leading actress. After the show is over, I only remember "Koari... Kaori" and nothing much else.
Koi wo nan nen sundemasu ka?
Rating: 9/10 (Watched)
Once again, the Japanese writers & directors managed to capture the complex & delicate human dilema & emotions. Great cast and very real ending. Lovely & thought-provoking drama more suited for older women who can relate :-)
Kou Kou Kyoushi 2003 [高校教師 2003]
Rating: 7/10 (Bought & Watched)
Draggy... extraordinary plot but I feel the human emotions wasn't delivered well in the dialogues. Could have been better given the unconventional storyline.
Long vacation [ロングバケーション]
Rating: 7/10 (Watched)
Good storyline and music but the actress annoyed me like crazy! It's because her that I cannot be touched by the show. Kimura was too scrawny for me to give it a higer rating. Maybe I have watched Overtime first so this similar drama appeals less to me.
Lunch no Joou [ランチの女王]
Rating: 10/10 (Bought & Watched)
I simply love comedys about food so this one is no doubt one of my fav! I love the wacky Japanese humour and share the same sentiments for food as the characters in the drama. This drama has me laughing out loud and crying. A delightful drama that can bring joy to its audience. If your food hasn't been accompanied by your tears, you haven't quite lived life to the fullest!
Majo no jouken [魔女の条件]
Rating: 10/10 (Watched)
I think most people either like it or hate it. It made me a little uncomfortable but strangely I enjoyed the uneasiness it gave me because social oddities like this do happen in life. If you pay close attention to the intended message of this drama, you will appreciate it more. Mom's obsessed jealousy about her son, the society discrimination about student-teacher love affair, the dilema & struggle of doing the "right" things to please the society rather than yourself etc. Many good colloquial dialogues as well. Love can happen anywhere at anytime to anyone. Very bold of the director & scriptwriter to attempt something like this that can make the audience squirm. It brought Takizawa to fame! I'm adding this drama to my collection for sure!
Mukodono! [ムコ殿/女婿大人]
Rating: 7/10 (Watched)
Find the exaggerated behaviour of the actor alittle irritating but it's still heart-warming and hilarious on the whole. Not bad.
Nemureru mori [眠れる森]
Rating: 8/10 (Watched)
Quite a gd suspense drama, but the ending was too abstract for me to understand and I felt kind of cheated by the ending after all the emotions up & down I went through ;-(
Ningen no Shoumei [人間の証明]
Rating: 8/10 (Watched)
Quite good and meaningful... though to bring across issues on humanity, some scenes are compromised and become unbelievable.
Orange Days [オレンジデイズ]
Rating: 8/10 (Bought & Watched)
Sweet & heart-warming, portrayed graduates' dilema about pursuing their dream careers. It's not a drama that gave me yo-yo feelings, it's like a pleasant drive along the moutain highways, maybe if I were abt to graduate now I would feel more for this show. I do enjoy it overall, it just doesn't linger in my mind that's all. Satoshi is a talented & cute actor. I don't find Kou that pretty but she definitely acted well (I have had a few mute neighbours before so I know how they behave)
Over Time [オーバー・タイム]
Rating: 10/10 (Bought & Watched)
One of the best! Great soundtrack, cast, plot & dialogues! Some hate the ending but I thought it's realistic & different from the typical. I enjoyed the chemistry between the 2 main actors & how overtime they develop feelings for each other. Sometimes your soulmate is just beside you you know! Watched the last few episodes many times & hugged my pillow & cried many times (crazy! hahaha!) No match for afew years till I watched Boku Dake No Madonna which is on par with this then.
Pride [プライド]
Rating: 9/10 (Watched)
*Sigh* What can I say? I think the Japanese scriptwriters study the psychology of fans and are very intelligent in tailoring dramas to meet the fans' need for fantasy. Kimura is fabulous in this drama. He always has to fall for plain jane, rather than the attractive sexy girl. It gives many ordinary women hope, hoping that one day a cool Kimura-look-alike sport star will fall for them and smoulder them with affection. Wow! The plot develops well, not too draggy and the cast is pretty to look at as well. Many different angles of Kimura's boyish grins. What else can one asks for?!
Sekai no chuushin de, ai wo sakebu [世界の中心で、愛をさけぶ]
Rating: 6/10 (Watched)
Many people luv this but I belong to the minority. Whinning big man that gets on my nerves. Reminds me of a typical K drama with an overdone sentimental love. Nothing special. I enjoy the cinematography and scenery though..
Slow Dance [スローダンス]
Rating: 10/10 (Bought & Watched)
Another dorama to my collection. Lead actress' sentiments are similar to mine ;-( lovable cast with great acting!
Sora Kara Furu Ichioku no Hoshi [空から降る一億の星]
Rating: 8/10 (Watched)
Will be better if condensed into fewer episodes. Beginning of the story has no connection with the plot at all though Kimura's fans would enjoy watching him play a cool weirdo. It has a dark plot which is what I like. I love dark plot. Because of its ending I rate it 8.
Strawberry on the shortcake [ストロベリー・オンザ・ショートケーキ]
Rating: 9/10 (Bought & Watched)
I enjoy the dialogue very much. The slow pace enjoys me to savour & chew on the symbolic meaning of the plot and the characters' feelings. I thought it's going to be a typical romeo-juliet ending but it's not :-) though it ended quite abruptly and left me longing for more... a kind of not 'full' enough feeling. If it had squeezed more tears out of me, I would have rated it 10.
Taiyo no Kisetsu [太陽の季節]
Rating: 5/10 (Bought & Watched)
Unconvincing storyline, quite ridiculous and poor attempt to be a dark drama. If not for Takizawa, I might stop halfway but his charms! Hahaha... yeah, I do succumb to eye-candy and waste time on a lousy plot.
Taiyou wa shizumanai
Rating: 10/10 (Bought & Watched)
Great drama, touching & makes you reflect (just like what most jdrama are capable of doing to its audience). I cried even from episode one! Touches on family love, BGR love, justice & social pressure. It makes you question if sometimes it's worth it afterall to know the truth, especially if it's at high cost. The plot may not be extraordinary but the emphasis on the values in this drama is deep and emotional. I'm sure Takizawa's fans would have watched his great performance in this, if not, it's a must-see! However I think the very young fans may not appreciate its underlying message that this drama is trying to convey so they may find it boring.
Tiger & Dragon [タイガー&ドラゴン]
Rating: 3/10 (Bought & Watched)
took a long time but still didn't finish watching it... don't understand its humour
With love
Rating: 6/10 (Bought & Watched)
Great soundtrack and last scene very touching but a tad too repetitive to be considered good, could have squeezed into 6 or 7 episodes and it will be the right dosage. Takenouchi is a classic, superb acting.
Yamato Nadeshiko [やまとなでしこ【大和撫子】]
Rating: 6/10 (Watched)
So-so though some scenes are very funny. For the first time I prefer the lead actor to be with the supporting actress rather than lead as she's so annoyingly materialistic and face-conscious! Don't find it touching.

Anego [アネゴ]
Hilarious! Fast-paced! [Rating: 9/10]
Hilarious! Cute! When the main cast is together, the audience gets to read the wacky thoughts that go through their mind and it's really funny. Pace is fast so it's gd for impatient audience. Plot is a true portrayal of a Japanese woman's dilema and obstacles about getting married when she's reached her 30s. The only drawback is the lead actor's stone acting and some very typical unbelievable "dorama" scenes. Hmm... I think nore situable for older women audience (than younger audience) who shares same sentiments as the lead actress...
Attack No.1 [アタック No.1]
ma-ma desu [Rating: 7/10]
Quite a typical dorama about sportsman fighting spirit but some good and touching scenes though...
Blackjack ni Yoroshiku [ブラックジャックによろしく]
Should You Trust Doctors? [Rating: 7/10]
The beginning was very good but story did not pick up later on. I like how the story depicts the dark side of medical healthcare and leaves viewers feeling paranoid about trusting doctors. Issues are very real and thought-provoking. Idealism vs practicality.
Boku dake no Madonna [僕だけのマドンナ]
Icihiban (other than Overtime) [Rating: 10/10]
AWESOME!! SIMPLY AWESOME!! This is a quirky and sweet story with two very lovable characters (Kyon & Surumi) which also add to viewers' visual feast. Just as most Jap drama are, there are a few unbelievable scenes in the show but they do not spoil the flavour of the whole show. You hear Kyon's inner voice in this drama throughout which brings you into his struggles in his world and makes the development of the plot even more touching to viewers. He slowly finds courage to fight for unconventional love. There are some very touching scenes too when one's love could never be requitted despite her patience. The funny neighbours also add to the whole enjoyment. The plot may not be something extraordinary but the couple's chemistry and how the story echoes love paradox makes you can't help but fall in love with it. I was sad that the drama ended because I wanted to see so much more :-( A vcd for keepsake for sure! It's a show capable to make you cry while laugh at the same time. RECOMMENDED FOR THOSE WHO LIKE ROMANCE COMEDY! BUT not for people who prefer traditional or tragic love stories or can't stand younger guy & older woman relationships.
Densha Otoko [電車男]
Gives HOPE to Nerdy Men!! [Rating: 7/10]
A frog & princess plot. Train man is very annoying who loves to cry while Saori is unbelievably tender. The couple looks odd together. Not my kind of drama. However the internet chat and characters are very entertaining. I'd say this drama gives hope to below-average looking men... hehehe... for audience with lots of compassion towards low self esteem people.
Hana Yori Dango [花より男子]
Ridiculous Storyline! [Rating: 9/10]
Silly, unrealistic, some dialogues don't make sense. Shun tried too hard to be dreamy! Typical Japanese ridiculous plot BUT superbly entertaining! Afterall it's manga right? Hahaha!
Ichi Ritoru no Namida [1リットルの涙]
Anyone with a heart will love this. [Rating: 10/10]
Makes you appreciate your health and life better. Gd values instilled, great soundtrack by K, great acting, heart-rending story without nonsensical tragedy. The vcd last me for 4 days and 4 days I had puffy eyes. ENough said. A classic for collection!
Itoshi Kimie [愛し君へ]
Love & Strength [Rating: 10/10]
If you can get pass the first 3 episodes which progress rather slowly, you will fall in love with this one. The delivery by the director is like you are seeing it from the characters' eyes so you feel like you are a part of the story. Shiki's love and strength touches me deeply. Kanno Miho's acting is indeed superb! Subtle yet naturally convincing. The story portrays the different types of love & sacrifice in times of obstacles. Very moving story that lingers in my mind even after I've finished watching. Beautiful soundtrack too.
Jyoou no Kyoushitsu [女王の教室]
Entertaining [Rating: 8/10]
Some lessons to be learnt though abit unreal becos the series has to show these lessons in 11 episodes. But I like it overall.
Kamisama mou sukoshi dake [神様、もう少しだけ]
Merry Go Round Story [Rating: 6/10]
Typical merry-go-round drama! My friend cried like hell but to me it felt like a broken record. Kiken na Aneki [危険なアネキ]
Stupid [Rating: 3/10]
Stupid show. Exaggerated and totally ridiculous plot. I gave it a chance till episode 3 and then thought I better spend time wisely watching other doramas.
Koi wo nan nen sundemasu ka?
Realistic Depiction of Women in 30s [Rating: 9/10]
I love the cast. I love the storyline. Love Yuko's thoughts. Itoh was very gd-looking in the drama. Ending is believable and realistic. Heart-warming. One of the best dramas I've watched! I guess it's not meant for younger generation cuz they may not be able to relate to the problems women in their 30s face.
Lunch no Joou [ランチの女王]
If you love food & Japanese humor... [Rating: ?/10]
Watch this if you share the above! I am a foodie myself who can cry over food so I share the same sentiments as the charac in the show. The humour is also very tickling, a delightful show that makes you happy!

Orange Days [オレンジデイズ]
Probably good for graduating students [Rating: 8/10]
Sweet & heart-warming, portrayed graduates' dilema about pursuing their dream careers. It's not a drama that gave me yo-yo feelings, it's like a pleasant drive along the moutain highways, maybe if I were abt to graduate now I would feel more for this show. Over Time [オーバー・タイム]
A True Reflection of the Bittersweet Symphony of L [Rating: 10/10]
Are you into fairy tale jap story? Well, me too but I luv this drama nevertheless despite its realistic plot. But life is like that sometimes, you enjoy the moment while it lasts and you have to go back to a more practical world. The show doesn't just centre around the main couple and good if you find tight plots boring. It shows you the lives of the other minor characters too. As what the title says, the two main charac find themselves developing a special chemistry more than just friendship OVERTIME. It tells you sometimes the pretty person you admire may not be your soulmate afterall but your buddy who click well with you grows on you subconsciously. The last few episodes will touch you so deeply you will fnd your face streaking with only warm tears. Because it's real it touches hearts. Very heartwarming which makes you want to hug the pillow and shriek and sigh. Ending puts viewers in a thinking mode and reflect life. Not for viewers who cannot cope with the true bittersweet symphony of life. My first fav jap drama. Cute cast too.

Big Whinning Man [Rating: 6/10]
Many people luv this but I belong to the minority. Whinning big man that gets on my nerves. Reminds me of a typical K drama with an overdone sentimental love. Nothing special. I enjoy the cinematography and scenery though..
Sora Kara Furu Ichioku no Hoshi [空から降る一億の星]
Dark Plot... [Rating: 8/10]
I like the unexpected ending, I have a fetish for dark plot. But this drama's beginning is too unneccesary & has no relation to its main plot, although Kimura's fans would enjoy watching him act as a cool weirdo. Better if it is condensed into fewer episodes.
Taiyou wa shizumanai
Maybe not for romance fans or very young audience? [Rating: 10/10]
Great drama, touching & makes you reflect (just like what most jdrama are capable of doing to its audience). I cried even from episode one! Touches on family love, BGR love, justice & social pressure. It makes you question if sometimes it's worth it afterall to know the truth, especially if it's at high cost (maybe the really young audience may not understand its underlying values so they find it boring..?) The plot may not be extraordinary but the emphasis on the values in this drama is deep and emotional. I'm sure Takizawa's fans would have watched his great performance in this, if not, it's a must-see! I bought the dvd for keepsake, that's how good it is to me!
