Lee-chan's artiste votes (5)
Eita [
He might not be as hot as those Johnny's kids but has more acting skill in his pinkie toe than in some entire Johnny's groups. He's especially endearing as various quirky characters.
Kimura Takuya [
In truth I'm not too crazy about him, but Kimura is a legend. I'll be damned if Matsumoto or Yamashita end up being the most popular guy on the site, so here's my vote.
Uchiyama Rina [
Talented, versatile, and very pretty. Steals the show, even when she's a supporting character.
Ueno Juri [
In truth, I haven't seen her in too many shows. But after watching a few episodes of "Nodame Cantabile", then turning around and watching "Last Friends", I was blown away. I can't wait to watch her in more media, and I hope she only gets better as time goes on.
Watabe Atsuro [
Able to portray all kinds of roles with his own unique style; which something a lot of the "more attractive," up-and-coming actors lack. This guy is a joy to watch.

14 sai no Haha [14
Rating: 7/10 (Watched)
Overrated, but not abyssmal. It's more "feel-good" than the intended "controversial," with hit-and-miss performances from the cast.
3 nen B gumi Kinpachi Sensei Season 6 [3年B組金八先生]
Akai Ito [
Akihabara@DEEP [アキハバラ@DEEP]
Algernon ni Hanataba o [

Antique [
Aoi Tori [
Rating: 4/10 (Watched)
Okay, I just didn't like this at all. It was painfully slow and I found the story to be more frustrating than anything. I hated the direction the story took around episode seven. The acting was mostly good and the scenery was nice, but I couldn't find other redeeming points to this one.
Arifureta Kiseki [

This drama's like a lazy summer day, laid-back and enjoyable.

Brother Beat [
Celeb to Binbo Taro [
Rating: 5/10 (Watched)
I started this drama with no big expectations, and for a while, that was manageable. Even for a silly show, the story just failed to make sense, and the acting was SO. EXCESSIVE. all the time. However, the love story aspect was actually charming, and may have redeemed the show. And then the bizarro ending killed it. This one was up and down and frustrating all around.
CHANGE
Rating: 9/10
I wasn't impressed until about episode five, when the political intrigue of the show increased and the story really picked up. In the end, a very charming and addicting show -- great acting, writing... and this is one of the few shows where I really liked the OST as well!
Code Blue: Doctor Heli Kinkyu Kyumei [
Daisuki!! [
Densha Otoko [
Rating: 7/10 (Watched)
Very fun and easy to get in to, but slow at times. Once again, the side characters were the best part.
Dragon Zakura [
Edison no Haha [

Rating: 6/10
Nice try, but no cigar. This one suffered from bad writing and characterization... but an okay watch overall.
Gal Cir [
Good Luck !! [
Hachimitsu to Kuroba [
Rating: 6/10
Decent but painfully slow. I can't put together any other impressions other than that...
Hana Yori Dango [
Rating: 9/10 (Watched)
Feels more like a modern fairy tale than a manga adaption - but it's a good thing here. Funny, engaging and touching at moments.
Hana Yori Dango Season 2 [
Hanayome to Papa [
Hanazakari no Kimitachi e [

Reminds me of cotton candy - so sweet that it makes my teeth hurt. HanaKimi is so corny with so much forced humor it makes my head hurt. This is to be said for someone who liked the manga and many of the actors that appear in it...
Hito ni Yasashiku [
Rating: 8/10 (Watched)
This one was at times so over-the-top it was anime-like, but not annoyingly so. The interactions between the three leads, as well as the adorable performance by little Suga Kenta make this a very fun watch. The romance aspect was rather weak, but it still manages to make the list of my favorite dorama.
Hitonatsu no puropozu [
Hotaru no haka [
Rating: 9/10 (Watched)
Every bit as touching as the 1988 animation. Ishida and Sasaki were excellent in their roles as the siblings struggling to survive, and Matsushima was stellar in her role as the torn and hardened aunt. If you don't cry while watching this, there's something wrong with you.
Hotaru no Hikari [
Rating: 8/10
Hotaru no Hikari Season 2 [
Hotman [

Ichi Ritoru no Namida [1
Rating: 9/10 (Watched)
I've never cried so much watching a television show, ever. All of the members of Ikeuchi clan had their turn to shine as actors, even the Johnny's Junior kid. Sawajiri put her heart, mind, and body as the terminally-ill student. Got a little draggy or over-the-top at some parts, but over all a really gem.
Iguana no musume [
Ikebukuro West Gate Park [
Ima Ai ni Yukimasu [
Innocent Love [
Itoshi Kimie [
Itsumo futari de [
Rating: 6/10 (Watched)
This one took a hit at the dropping out of Kashiwabara, but it manage to keep up its steam until the end. Alright, but nothing special.
Jigoku Shoujo [
Jodan Janai! [
Jotei [
Kaibutsu-kun [
Kamisama mou sukoshi dake [
Keizoku [
Kekkon Dekinai Otoko [
Kimi wa Petto [
Rating: 6/10
THIS is the one that's convinced me that Matsumoto is, has, and will always be a crappy actor. It was okay, but frustrating because of most of the cast had subpar performances and all the characters were emotionally retarded.
Koi ga shitai Koi ga shitai Koi ga shitai [
Rating: 8/10 (Watched)
This one requires some suspension of belief... but after you get past that, it's easy to get addicted to, although it drags on at some parts.
Koibumi [
Rating: 9/10 (Watched)
Very touching story, and excellent acting by all of the characters.
Koizora [
Koori no sekai [
Kou Kou Kyoushi 2003 [
Rating: 8/10
Despite the bizarre and over-the-top characterization, I found myself liking this drama a lot. Still, I can see how frustrated some viewers might get with the cast of charas and the slow pace of the story.
Kurisumasu Nante Dai Kirai
Kurosagi [
Kyousoukyoku [
Rating: 7/10 (Bought)
A slower, more subtle, and overall more mature drama. The two male leads' rivalry in career and romance was enthralling, while their friendship and mutual respect gave their relationship another level of complexity... and by the end, I really didn't care much for Miyazawa's role in the story. Still, great acting in a character-driven story.
Last Friends [
Rating: 7/10
Dramatic, even for a J-drama. Sometimes too much so, but it definitely did a good job at hooking viewers. For all it went through, it fell short of doing justice to certain issues (DV and TG)... But I absolutely fell in love with Eita and Ueno. They acted their hearts out.
Liar Game [
LIFE [ライフ]
Rating: 7/10 (Watched)
Did I just watch an after-school special? Decent acting (particularly by the antagonists played by Fukuda, Hosoda and Hoshii), and the plot managed to get me hooked. Also, the changes made from the manga bugged me...
Long vacation [
Rating: 8/10 (Watched)
For some reason, while I found a few parts of this one really cheesy, I still ended up liking it a lot... It had heart. Yamaguchi was really fun to watch, Kimura was more palatable than usual, and I don't even know what to say about the incessant 90's house music. Classic.

Love Revolution [
Love Shuffle [
Lunch no Joou [
Majo no jouken [
Rating: 6/10 (Watched)
Wait... what did I just watch? Matsushima was okay but her character was so frustrating I couldn't like her at all. And as usual, Takizawa was so stiff he could've BEEN a cardboard cut-out in some scenes for all I know. The plot was pretty zany, too. But I'll have to give this some points for being suspenseful.
Mayonaka no Ame [
Meguri ai [
Mother
Moto Kare [
Rating: 6/10 (Watched)
Another one of those dramas where the supporting cast is the show' high point...
Musashi [
My Boss, My Hero [
News no onna [
Rating: 7/10 (Watched)
Solid drama; an interesting peek at the world of newscasting behind-the-scenes. Great chemistry between Suzuki and Nagatsuka.
Ningen shikkaku [
Nobuta wo Produce [
Rating: 7/10 (Watched)
Despite my aversion to the J-boys, I found both Kamenashi and Yamashita's performances to be pretty good. While not particularly deep or moving, I found this to be a very fun watch with a bit of heart every now and then.
Nodame Cantabile [
Rating: 8/10 (Watched)
A bit too silly for me at parts... It reminded me a lot of HanaDan, as well (with a bunch of classical music). It definitely picked up towards the end. A very fun watch!
Odoru Daisousasen [
Rating: 9/10
Part sitcom, part crime drama, but all fun! Ohda, Fukatsu, Yanagiba, and Ikariya were all so fun to watch. I've seen many Japanese dramas call into the trap of being... too dramatic for their own good, but R&P handles itself well. You'll laugh, maybe cry, and fall off the edge of your seat and find yourself wanting more!
Orange Days [
Otousan [
Oyaji~ [
Rating: 8/10 (Watched)
A great mix of family drama and situation comedy! Likable characters, funny moments, and interesting issues dealt with through the series.

Ryokiteki na Kanojo [
Rating: 7/10 (Watched)
I loved the original Korean film, so I might be a bit biased. By episode 3, you realize that they had to add a LOT to flesh out the plot to fill eleven episodes, and I felt that all of the new points where really "typical". Not really boring, but nothing really special. It's fun to watch if you're not expecting something great.
Ryusei no Kizuna [
Sapuri [
Seito Shokun! [
Rating: 6/10
I freaking love Uchiyama, but I definitely don't like her in a role as hammy as this one. As far as school dramas go, this one is okay. Just okay.
Sekai no chuushin de, ai wo sakebu [
Shinsengumi [
Shinzanmono [
Shiroi Haru [
Shomuni [
Sora Kara Furu Ichioku no Hoshi [
Sore wa, Totsuzen, Arashi no you ni... [

Strawberry on the shortcake [
Rating: 5/10 (Watched)
I have lots of complaints about this one, but both the supporting cast and the music were very good.
Suekko chounan ane san nin [
Summer snow
Rating: 7/10 (Watched)
Rather predictable, but the acting by the siblings (Doumoto, Oguri, and Ikewaki), was great.
Sunao ni Narenakute [
Taiyo to Umi no Kyoshitsu [

I'm a huge fan of school dramas and Ohda Yuuji, but I couldn't deal with the confused mess that was episode one. Perhaps I'll come back to this one...
Taiyou no uta [
Tatta Hitotsu no Koi [
Tiger & Dragon [
Tobo Bengoshi [
Tokyo Love Story [
Tokyo Tower ~Okan to Boku to, tokidoki, Oton [
Rating: 9/10 (Watched)
It starts out slow, and Hayami's character IS painfully frustrating. But the second I started thinking his character wouldn't grow at all, he did, and I got sucked into this touching tale about the bonds between family. The last five or so epiodes are especially heartwrenching. Baisho's protrayal of the mother was so endearing, Hayami grew on me; everyone was so wonderful in this. Definitely one of my favorites.
Tsuki no Koibito [
Virgin Road [
Watashitachi no kyokasho [
Rating: 8/10 (Watched)
A gloomy account of bullying from the perspective of adults. It was dramatic without becoming too cheesy, and very easy to get hooked on. Kan'no carried this one, giving what might be one of my favorite performances in a drama I've seen yet.
Water Boys [
Rating: 8/10 (Watched)
Very funny and inspiring, featuring a plethora of quirky characters.
Yankee-kun to Megane-chan [
Yasashii Jikan [
Zettai Kareshi [
Rating: 7/10 (Watched)
I couldn't shake the fact that the whole plot was terribly cheesy; but it's meant to be a story about a girl who falls in love with a robot. After some suspension of belief, I was able to start enjoying to story, and even some of Hayami's portrayal of the android boyfriend. I have to agree with the others that felt the ending seemed rushed, but I liked it end the end.
