Kamisama mou sukoshi dake [神様、もう少しだけ]
too melancholic. [Rating: 7/10]
not really that the storyline is too farfetched just that... whoever the writer of this dorama is doesnt know what subtlety means. i mean, you can tell of a sad story without making it too heavy, right? dont get me wrong, im such a sucker for tragic stories but the way this was told was just too sappy and 1940's-b&w-running-in-the-rain-saying-farewells-ish for me. oh wait, i think there was such a scene. kaneshiro was hot, as always...

entertaining [Rating: 9/10]
being a JE fan, i think it's a must to see something like NwP coz yannoe.. you just must. it was very very entertaining and very very crack. it has some fantasy touches to it and though i dun like kame that much, i enjoyed it for the crack and the arm-flailing pi it provided. yes. BUT OMG STAND UP STILL WINS EVERYTHING.
Sekai no chuushin de, ai wo sakebu [世界の中心で、愛をさけぶ]
its beauty will make you cry... [Rating: 10/10]
these are some of the things i posted on my blog while watching it.. this drama has claimed my soul. best opening squence ever. * yamada takayuki is capturing my heart every minute i see him on screen. ayase haruka is awesome, too and is by far the only japanese dorama actress that doesn't annoy me one bit. * I CAN'T BREATH ANYMORE. I CAN'T BREATH FOR THE LIFE OF ME. * dear sekachu, stop scraping off the outer layer of my soul and squeezing lime on it OVER AND OVER, onegaishimasu. coz yannoe, it hurts. badly. * whoever won't find this dorama beautiful is a dumbass with the worst sense of aesthetics. EVER. * im really amazed that i dun find the actress playing aki annoying. i like her even. yeah. * omg that kid's so cute!!! * i need to go to australia kthnxbi * that's what i call acting. subtle.. true.. felt. excuse me while i cry my eyes thinking about this again. * my tear ducts have been drained of any liquid. * i swear to gawd, i had an asthma attack watching this and i don't even have asthma. my eyes are swollen now and am shook up pretty badly. but yannoe, that was really really beautiful. i wish i can love someone as much someday or be loved, at least... i'm such a sucker for tragic stories so me + sekachu = BFF. ahahaha. mmkay that's all.
Stand UP!!
this is looooonnng!!! [Rating: 10/10]
first up, i registered here just so i can tell people how awesome this dorama is. no, seriously. these are but my opinions so uhm, yeah... (was written right after i finished watching the last ep). I had finished watching the dorama STAND UP! last night and words cannot express how much I loved the show. But Ill still try: - If stand up was a person, I'll ask him to marry me and have my babies. - Stand up! would make Akira Kurosawa proud and all the other Asian dramas feel puny and look crappy. - In my next lifetime, I'd gladly reincarnate to beEStand Up! I hope those gave justice to my feelings. I don't normally watch TV series but this I can say- it's the best Asian drama I've seen by far. It's an eclectic blend of Japanese humor and teenage angst, mushy love and sexual undertonesE with hilarious yet profound lines thrown at the sides. They suit my taste very well and indeed, all the eleven episodes were worth watching. Given that it had a power cast, I believe the drama would've faired as well even if other actors played the characters but it helped of course, that the lead roles were given to Nino (Shohei), YamaPi (Ken-Ken), Hiroki (Tayo), Shun (Ko) and Anne (Chie). Arashi's Kazunari Ninomiya portrayed his part so awesomely, he should've won an acting award for it. Or maybe he didn't really have to internalize much for Sho-chan may be in many ways, similar to him. Bottomline is, one can't help but sympathize with and fall for the character especially his dorkiness and naivety. If prior to this, I liked Nino, his dark gums and Konseki, he definitely blew me away with Sho-chan and his eeehhh??". Suzuki Anne was very convincing as the perky and youthful Chie, whom Ken-Ken and Sho eventually fell in love with. Seriously, I'll pay a million bucks to play her character. Many people may not be too amused with her but you have to give it to the girl for pulling it off. Now I don't kid around when I say that I have cried in every single episode. Then again, I am naturally emotional and weep over the death of mosquitoes. But there really is something about how the story unfolded and how the characters realized their feelings that brought back so much memory. Because I am such a fan of unrequited and unspoken love, too, the relationship between Shohei, Chie and Ken-Ken made it truly golden. Theirs reminded me of the Dawson-Joey-Pacey and Dao Ming Si-San Cai- Hua ze Lei love triangles and tell me, how can one not love that? Stand Up! was a very honest depiction of the youth and their struggles to fight peer pressures (or give in to them). It talked about their curiosity, their frustrations, their victories and their friendships. Not only was it written incredibly well, the cinematography and visual style has also blown me away that I have vowed to make a show or a movie that'll level its greatness someday. Yes, it has owned me that much, i wonder what took it so long to come to my life. So maybe this is but an overrated review of the series and my fangirl self has just taken over. And maybe someday I'll get to watch another show again that'll make me love my craft more. And maybe, just maybe, one of these days I'll stop listening to Konseki. But one thing I know for sure, amidst all the crap that TV throws our way, it brings joy to my heart that there are still masterpieces like Stand Up! which are so life-alteringly brilliant. And for that, i'd remain a virgin. ~~ again, my opieenyens, people!! ENJOY!! ps: i've watched this in a day. ahehehehe.
