Anego [アネゴ]
Forgettable [Rating: 5/10]
A young man who falls for an older woman has been a trend in jdorama. Anego, however, doesn't give the viewers the expected apetite for this kind of story. The main character, the "anego", is supposed to be a 30-something yuppie, who hardly appeals to single men, but "anego" is not a bit unattractive. She's way hotter than her skinny, ultra beauty-conscious, flat-chested lil' sisters in their office. With her effortlessly sexy appeal, she could actually play Sharon Stone's role in an asian version of Basic Instinct. She's even voluptuously sexier with her messy hair. What makes the drama forgettable is the poor editing. It attempts to project that the main character is supposed to be struggling with her becoming a potential wife, but there were no consistent incidents of her supposed to be unappealing aura. She has in fact caught the eyes of a very young officemate and a married executive, with whom she later had an illicit affair. The show also projects that genuine love had blossomed between "anego" and the married man, but it was never established that the two really fell for each other. Undeniably, Ryoko could act (especially as a beer drinker). Jin, the other popular Kat-tun, however fell short of portraying the role of a young man who has gone madly in love with an anego. Akihiko bravely took the assignment in the far-flung part of Mongolia just to establish himself as a man strong and dependable enough for his anego. Still, Jin's eyes failed to show the supposed sincere feelings of Akihiko towards anego. Jin may look less ugly than Kame; sorry I can't help but say that Jin pales in comparison to Kame when it comes to acting.
