Gokusen [ごくせん]
Rating: 7/10 (Watched)
I can see why this show is so beloved. Its a classic. Nakama Yukie carries it wonderfully with a great cast of interesting and quirky characters. Unfortunately it got quite repetitive towards the end with her rescuing one of her students in each episode before making a long winded speech and inspiring everyone. But with its flaws, its a drama with a lot of heart and strong messages throughout.
GTO [麻辣教師]
Rating: 8/10 (Watched)
Great show. Not without its flaws of course. One being all of the teachers suddenly hell bent on getting him fired in the later episodes. This seemed a bit far fetched to me. Still enjoyable though.
Hana Yori Dango [花より男子]
Rating: 7/10 (Watched)
I've been a huge fan of the manga for a long time before I discovered the dramas even existed. After dropping the korean version in the first episode I wasn't expecting much from this one. But its wonderful. Its completely over the top exactly as it should be. Its faithful to the manga and that's what I love about it. I've already watched it twice.
Hanazakari no Kimitachi e [花ざかりの君たちへ]
Rating: 6/10 (Watched)
Honestly if it weren't for the supporting cast, I would not have made it very far into this show. I found the two lead characters weren't fleshed out properly and couldn't quite carry the show. I also didn't understand why they needed so much screen time for a long drawn out story about whether or not he'll jump again. I found myself just wanting to go back to the crazy students in dorms 1 and 3.
Kimi wa Petto [きみはペット]
Rating: 6/10 (Watched)
Aaand the moral of the story is don't treat someone as if their less then human. I know you have to take these kinds of dramas with a grain of salt but I couldn't get past the ridiculousness of the whole thing. This drama also unfortunately had a very weak supporting cast.
Nobuta wo Produce [野ブタ。をプロデュース]
Rating: 5/10 (Watched)
As soon as I saw how highly this drama is regarded by viewers I watched it and was disappointed by the outcome. There was something a little off about these characters that I had a hard time buying into the whole story. Somehow I ended up completing it but I'm not sure why.
Pride [プライド]
Rating: 7/10 (Watched)
I liked this drama instantly in the first 15 minutes of watching. The story had promise and Kimura Takuya really stole the show as the lead. I enjoyed the slow romance build up between the two leads but unfortunately like so many other dramas, unnecessary melodrama got in the way particularly in the last few episodes. Still enjoyable though. Would watch again.
