Hmmm.... somehow I can't seem to find anyplace that has the GTO Drama special with English subtitles. I can easily find them in Chinese but the thing here is that I can't read Chinese at all. Does anyone know a good place as to where I can find the GTO Drama Special with English subs?
Oh and I have noticed that most people on the forums are based in Asia. As for myself, I recently came back from visiting relatives in Malaysia and Singapore as well as vacationing in Japan. Got enough Dramas and movies to last a good year or two. If you could help that would be appreciated. I live in Canada BTW. |

Well yes, alot of the dramas have english subs, but theres also the quality of the english subs that is in question as well... Most of the time its not a native english speaker who is doing the subs, and the english subs come out pretty shitty or making no sense. or even worse poorly timed.
As far as movies/Dramas in Japan, any of the ones i have from there i just rented from the video store and made a copy myself. its alot cheaper that way. lol. all i gotta buy is the blank tapes, and pay for the rental.
Im just looking to sub some Japanese dramas that dont have the chinese subs at the bottom already. Thats why i was asking if you had any Dramas without subs your willing to sell. |

| i think the ones with malay sub are evfen worse..most of the time u have to figure out the meaning by yourself and they don't even translate some of the dialogs.. |

Willing to sell? Not quite, since I haven't watched them all yet and have only one copy of them..... sorry about that. And yes, they are all in English subs, since I can't read Chinese characters at all. I got most of them in Malaysia and Singapore however.
Okay then. Besides Ebay, any other good places as to where I can find the GTO Drama Special with English subs? I'm sure some places should have that though.

| I noticed they leave out alot of little things in the translations of eng subs too. Mostly its the little things like "thanks" or "oh its nothing" "please go ahead" stuff like that, small conversation is ussually dropped... i wonder if thats because they expect you to know the little things like Hai, Domo, Dozo.....or if they are just a bunhca lazy subtitlers lol.. Havent seen Malay subs yet, but i know for sure most eng subs are pretty crappy. |

Even though I don't understand Japanese that well and can't read Chinese subs I still prefer the ones without ENG subs. I watched one drama (Dekichatta Kekkon) with English subs for the first time and they were horrible. I also found that I got lazy a lot of times and just read the crappy Eng subs without listening carefully to the dialog. Ever since then I decided to not buy Eng subbed dramas.
BTW, you know in the Dekichatta Kekkon subs they didn't even get the girls name right. They wrote "Tiyo" instead of "Chiyo". They only changed it after a scene where it showed the spelling of her name on a paper. |

LOOOL! thats hilarious... Thats some really bad subtitling lol.....lol... I think that one belongs in a poor-subtitling hall of fame or something.
You must know enough japanese to get by without any subs at all. Keep at it! I dont mind the chinese subs, because i can still figure out the meaning of most of the kanji for whatever reason i dont happen to catch what the actors or saying, or if im unlucky enough to get one of those Crappy VCDs with shitty sound quality.
I had one jap movie where what the people were saying wasnt translated till it hit the next scene LOL... friggin hilarious. Especially when no ones in the scene and there are words comming across the scene LOL... |

Well, I could be possibly able to learn enough Japanese to be able to read the subtitling of the original version. More importantly, does anyone know a good place as to where I can find the GTO Drama special in perhaps Chinese or Japanese subs if possible?
I think English subs generally suck though. It's too damn hard to find really. So the original version is fine with me, too bad I really need to learn Japanese beforehand.

| I only wish Japanese dramas came with Japanese subs. The vcds are only in Eng/Chin/Malay subs...never Japanese subs. That would greatly help my reading of Japanese. I can only get those on DVD movies. |

Japanese Subs eh... Good luck on that one as far as Dramas go. But if you are looking for japanese subs, try getting ahold of some regular Japanese TV shows. Most of the Japanese tv shows have subtitles at the bottom, why.......i know not...but! They like to subtitle everything on TV shows (by show i dont mean drama).

The GTO (Great Teacher Onizuka) hour-and-a-half special has just been fansubbed and released by http://drama.afraid.org/bt/japan-tv/
I don't know about you, but I was ecstatic when I saw that it had finally been released. I've watched fifteen minutes of it so far, and I'm liking it already!
It should have a good number of seeds already, but I'll go ahead and do it for (1) day, unless beckoned longer.
In addition, the movie is to be released in the near future. |

GTO special isn't that good! Lost its "GTO touch" in my opinion. Still, worth watchin cos it continues from #12 ep where it was left, kinda. GTO has a great endin. Special, unnecessary addition.
"Drama Specials" are unnecessary additions!
As for the movie, seen it a year ago. Unrelated to the drama, it's pretty good! Rena Tanaka, lovely! and Norika Fujiwara, hot!
Onizuka's new assignment in Hokkaido!

| I think the Drama Special is just great to give the series a better ending .. however the movie was kinda boring for me ... (by the was it's released on the same page as the Drama special was now...) |

| i personally felt that the special was nice to show a bit more of the relationship between onizuka and fuyutsuki. however, i didnt feel the same magic in the movie as i did in the series. i felt a strong point in GTO series was the character development, seeing the way characters start out and evolve. the movie had almost none of this. disappointing....... |

me too... i felt that the drama special was not as good as the series... though it is kinda nice to see the progression of Onizuka's relationship with Fuyutsuki... |
