Hewlett-Packard will continue making PCs after all.
In August, the hardware giant dropped a bombshell announcement that it would kill off its tablet and smartphone products and would consider spinning off its PC business as it moved to complete a massive deal to acquire software company Autonomy.
After weeks of deliberation, the world's biggest PC-maker has finally decided the fate of its PC arm.
In a statement release on October 27, HP said it would not spin off or sell its personal computer business (called Personal Systems Group, or PSG).

Fujitsu, sweaty palmed from the construction of the K supercomputer, swore the colossal machine would manage a speed of ten petaflops by the year 2012. The effort has paid off handsomely: the hangar-sized machine has a top speed of 10.51. If you wanted to duplicate that setup at home, you'd only need 864 racks, 88,128 processors and enough cash in your back pocket to front an annual electricity bill of $10 million a year. The company will be spilling all at November's SC11 conference in Seattle, where the K will cement its position as the fastest computer in the world. One last thing -- we have a hunch that this machine can just about play Crysis.
1TB hard drive prices skyrocket 180 percent due to Thailand floods
As predicted, the price of hard drives has soared a staggering 180 percent, in some cases, due to widespread, long-term flooding in Thailand. According to computer engineer Marc Bevand, who has observed the soaring price tags, 1TB drives have experienced the most notable jump.
The literal breaking point, writes Bevand on his blog, Zorinaq, came after the flood waters seeped into the Bang Pa-In Industrial Park, the Navanakorn Industrial Park and the Bangkadi Industrial Park. These three industrial parks, located in Pathum Thani province near Bangkok, house all the manufacturing facilities in Thailand for both Western Digital and Toshiba. And, according to Bevand, �gall of them have been rendered inoperable,�h something Western Digital had feared would happen.
According to some estimates, roughly 60 percent of Western Digital�fs total hard drive production takes place in Thailand, as does 50 percent of Toshiba�fs. The Western Digital factory in the Bang Pa-In industrial park produced 25 percent of all the world�fs �gsliders,�h which are a vital component of traditional hard drives. As The New York Times reports, workers attempted to salvage what they could of the factory�fs inventory. But much was lost at the production plant as, �g[t]he ground floor resembled an aquarium and the loading bays were home to jumping fish.�h

My buddy told me because the government decided to intentionally flood a part of Bangkok in order to divert the waters from other more populated areas, the government is offering those tech manufacturers in the affected area an 8 year period of no corporate tax as an incentive to stay after the flooding subsides.

Previously code-named "Project Kal-El", the new quad-core chip is in production and is Nvidia's latest bet to expand into the fast-growing mobile market as tablets like Apple Inc's iPad eat into sales of personal computers.
Santa Clara, California-based Nvidia, which started out making graphics chips for PCs and still makes most of its revenue that way, expects devices using the new processors to be on sale by the end of the year, Chief Executive Jen-Hsun Huang told analysts on a conference call in September.
Early in 2011, Nvidia's Tegra 2 mobile chip, which is based on architecture licensed from Britain's ARM Holdings, was included in several new gadgets from Samsung Electronics, Asustek Computer Inc and LG Electronics, raising Nvidia's profile with investors as well as its stock price.
The first tablet to use the Tegra 3 chip will be Asustek's Eee Pad Transformer Prime, Nvidia said in a statement.
ARM's power-sipping chip architecture is widely favored for mobile devices that depend on batteries and is also used by Qualcomm Inc and Texas Instruments Inc.

Pretty soon these phones are going to be more powerful than my PC at home.
