Since there's a lot of discussion on this subject, time to start a new thread.

Well I have worn lenses since forever but I am allergic to almost every product that is out there. The only one I use is AOSEPT+ by Cibavision and to my relief it's available in Japan .

I wonder though how chemical this is, it's meant for sensitive eyes?

That's a great product. In the States, the name of that product is Clear Care, which is a product that my boss (optometrist) highly recommends over the multipurpose solutions.

Well, if it's working for you, then it's cool. All I know is that it can have some adverse reactions for people with sensitive eyes and can cause allergies like pink eye.

Ugh. My eyesight has been getting worse over the years too. In a span of six months, it changed A LOT. I blame the damn subtitles.

I recommend rock salt and reclaimed water...works for me.

That's fine as a saline solution, but you really should get a cleanser for your lenses to help get rid of build-up and disinfect the lens.

I've been wearing glasses since the 4th grade, and boy is my nose tired.

That's why I switched to contacts... I must've taken six months to a year for those marks on my nose to disappear.

And my perennial (), er, peripheral vision is oodles better.

Tell me about it. I still wear glasses after I take my contacts out when I get home from work, and it does hurt a little, especially with my high Rx. Thankfully, I use rimless glasses, so it takes the weight off, but it sucks because I can't wear the cute and trendy plastic frames because they tend to weigh a ton on my nose. Well, the one I really want in particular, anyway.

I have to go back to the eye doctor soon, since it's been two years and I know my vision has gotten worse. I've been wondering recently if there's some sort of new contact product I could use. I had them for a couple weeks when I was 15 but I developed an allergy and they would burn so bad, and then I had to take all these eyedrops every few hours for a few weeks to get rid of the protein my eyes had built up. I briefly tried a kind for more sensitive eyes after, but then the same thing started to happen so I gave up. I don't know if I actually want contacts anyway, cuz they're kind of a hassle. At least for lazy old me.

15? Wow, that was a while back. I'm not sure what new contact lenses there are for sensitive eyes, but try asking your eye doctor. Do you remember you eye doctor giving you anything to clean the contacts with? That's the main reason why people get allergies--they don't clean their contacts or use multipurpose cleaners, which has a lot of chemicals that sensitive people cannot handle. Try asking your eye doctor for what s/he recommends contact lens wise. If s/he is a good doctor, you'll be able to try several different contact brands to see which one works for you. Good luck.

Yeah, it was a long time now that I think of it! Back in 2002. I did have cleaning stuff and I followed all the directions and everything but maybe that was the reason? I really don't remember the brands or anything. I've been wondering recently if I should try contacts again but then I think that it might just be a waste since I don't actually mind wearing glasses.

It's really up to you to decide. If you like wearing glasses, then I'd skip going for contact lenses. I think that contact lenses are good for people who do sports, who are vain (like me!), and who just find wearing glasses to be a chore and a pain, especially if their Rx makes the lens heavy.

As for your sensitivity to contact lenses even if you use a cleaner, I would say to skip getting contacts, but if you really want to try it again, just make sure to clean your lenses every night and don't use those multipurpose solutions. Also, if your eyes are very sensitive and you still want to try contacts, ask your eye doctor about daily disposable ones. They are more expensive since you have to throw them away daily, but I think in the long run, it might be better for your eyes since there will be no build-up since you put on a fresh lens every day.

Incidentaly, daily disposable contacts are great for when you go on vacation because you don't have to worry about bringing extra solutions or cases.

Sports- nope. Vanity- nope. Chore and pain- Nope. Okay, I guess it will just be a waste of time and money to bother with contacts.
