Yes, but I think in Kanji (Chinese origin) it doesn't mean "road".

there are many kanji words that can fit into the pronouciation of "michi"...if u understand that there is such a thing as "kun" and "on" methods of pronouncing a kanji word...

one standalone kanji word :
kanji character : dao4 = pronounced as "michi"
kanji character : ru4 = pronounced as "michi"

both dao4 and ru4, when used individually means path or road or street, and are pronounced as 'michi". commonly used is the 2-word term "sakamichi", in kanji written as "ban3dao4", meaning path, road, street...
both dao4 and ru4 can also be used together in a 2-word term "douro", written in kanji as "dao4ru4", meaning the same thing, road, street...

when used as a person's name :
- pronounced "michiyo", kanji written as "san1qian1dai4" or "shi2qian1dai4", these 2 names can be unisex.
- pronounced as "michiyo", and written in hiragana, then it is usually a girl's name.

there are cases where dao4 is appended at the end of a name, pronoun or noun :

- street, road name or place name :
then in such scenario, it is pronounced as "do". example : "tokaidou", kanji written as "dong1hai3dao4", an ancient roadpath between modern tokyo ( old name is edo ) and kyoto. or more commonly known, "hokkaidou", written as "bei2hai3dao4".

- a method, a way, a technique :
example :
pronounced as "shodou", in kanji "shu1dao4", meaning calligraphy.
pronounced as "kendou", in kanji "jian4dao4", meaning japanese fencing/sword technique.
pronounced as "chadou", kanji "cha2dao4', meaning tea ceremony.
pronounced as "judo", in kanji "rou2dao4", meaning a type of martial arts.

Mi - future Chi - freedom.

In Majo No Jouken, Michi's dad was with Hikaru & he recolleced the time when Michi was born (epi 11-when Michi was in coma) "the fact that Man can feel that sort of happiness...it was the 1st time for me (Michi's birth) no matter how long a person's life is, there will be a lot of things one won't know..she taught me that. That's why I named that child "Michi". He went on to say "Because an educator often has to be humble, I did just that (named her Michi)..I've forgotten all that & have become an arrogant and difficult person"

Got this from
www.geocities.com/Tokyo/Market/5324/index.html
CJ Morikai's Japanese Drama Translations which is incidently one of my favourite sites.

Hope you feel better now, Michi!

Michi-san, honto ni gommenasai! I was half asleep when I posted the message.

Michi = Future Wisdom and not Future Freedom.

I'm so embarrased!!!! Anyways, I believe the Japanese do not separate their names.

Absolutely - I like Esumi Makiko a lot, especially her character in Overtime - she's warm, honest and so full of life. Actually I wanted her to end with Souchiro, u know what I mean?

Yes, i've watched it, run just ended in S'pore. I felt that there's not much build up to the ending. Also, its strange to see Esumi so serious but Fuji Naohito is not bad. The song, Kiss of Life is nice too. I have the lyrics, since i source for lyrics too. I'll post it soon.

Dear Michi,

I simply love your nick as it reminds me of Mitsuhiro Oikawa (mitchi). :)

I have a web site on Esumi Makiko and there is a special page on Love Revolution.

I have also included the lyrics of themesong and some of the sub-theme. Do check out this page.

Hi Michi,

Thanks for visiting my web site. Esumi Makiko has a very unique style and onscreen performance. She is said to be more demure in real life, so I think she is a good actress. Smile
She manages to maintain a rather youthful look and she just has some kind of unique personality, An actress of unconventional beauty.

Most of the tracks in LR OST are great! I like the themesong, Kiss of Life very much.
