I understand most of the people here when they wonder if Gokusen fans ever get tired of watching the same thing...
The fact is that the Japanese are obsessive in this aspect; they never get tired of experiencing the same thing over and over if it catches their fancy. If it hasn't occurred to you yet, you'll notice that most anime, manga, especially the super-sentai shows revolve around the same formula. Every episode is essentially the same plotline.
Well, to Westerners and people with western tastes it's not right, but then Japan is Japan, and there's a good reason why we find that country so weird.
Most of the younger generation here in the Philippines grew up watching anime and tokusatsu with their repetitive storylines, unchanging action sequences and all that. So when we watch Gokusen 1, 2 and 3, even though we know that it's the same thing over and over, the mere fact that we like it supersedes any expectation of something new.
As for the movie being one, long 2-hour episode, Japanese tv-to-movie translations are not what most Westerners expect. When an American tv show becomes a full-length film, it becomes grander in scope, the characters are brought into a bigger world and unfamiliar circumstances happen. If that formula were applied to a Japanese show made into a film, the Japanese audience would be perplexed.

It's an Asian thing, just like rice... the side dish might be different, but essentially it's the same thing everyday and we like it.
(Although I should say that I'm pretty sure Gokusen 4 will never happen.) _________________

I saw the movie a few days ago. Call it what you want, but that was no movie, more like two 45-min drama episodes spliced into one.
MatsuJun didn't even put in a token cameo, which made the whole exercise pointless IMO. Why did they make this movie again? (Oh riiiight, Kame was here, hehe. But still. Yankumi+Shin >>>>> Yankumi+Odagiri) I think I perked up a bit when I saw Koide Keisuke and Oguri Shun's cameos. (But seriously, was it just me, or did Shun's outfit look like something the Genie from Disney's Aladdin would wear? )
Um, I didn't know Miura Haruma was the Season 3 Alpha Male of Class 3-D. I saw him for the first time in the movie and he stood out (in a good way) amid the homogeneous sea of JE twinkies (gawwwd the movie was drowning in them). Prior to this Miura Haruma was just that Unidentified Kawaii Object in the Beatle-esque Shiseido CM campaign, where he's seen tromping about Merrie England with Shun/Eita/Satoshi and saying "Shu... Shushushu... Shu." So, okay, Miura Haruma = YES. Best thing about him? NOT a Johnny.
I guess this means I'll be watching GOKUSEN 3 very soon. Dayum.

Currently watching the first Season. I love it!
Can't wait to watch the rest of the legend that is Gokusen!
And not to mention the kawaiiness of Nakama Yukie.
