Oh, boy... Is this my next project??????
http://jdorama.com/drama_156.htm
http://www.geocities.com/gobbyminami80/imoto.html
This is my 2ND favorite Japanese drama of all fricking time!!!! I just love Wakui Emi... Next to Sakai Noriko, I'd do anything for her as well!!!!!
The photo is of the laser disc set I'm thinking of buying... I'll definitely buy it, it's just a matter of what I'll eventually do with it. My UTSR project is slated to finish December 2004, so I wouldn't be able to touch Imouto Yo until next year.
Would anyone be interested in tackling this project? I can convert the laser disc to DV format. I'd capture it to my PC in pure DV format, which takes about 12GB for 48 minutes of video/audio. I can do several things from that point... I can, for example, rip it to MPEG-4 (XviD) video and OGG audio format. I can then leave it on my FTP site and let a group of people work on prefecting the English subtitles. Unlike USTR, I'd probably like to have it done in a SMI file. I have the original FUJI-TV/NGN broadcast of the series, along with the VERY VERY WONDERFUL (yeah, right) English subtitles.
So basically the questions I have are:
1) Any volunteers for subbing? I need at least one person that's willing to type in the text, and one person with Japanese speaking skills who can review or add additional text for the parts that NGN missed. And, I'd like to get several people who can sit down for a couple of hours and review the subtitles and make comments or contribute in the editing phase.
2) If I can put a group together, I'll go ahead and provide all the necessary on-line facilities: FTP server, a private message board, a list mailing service, or whatever else you'd need.
3) I'll also handle all the video production, including ripping to whatever format the group can agree upon.
Let me know what you guys think!!!!! I'm soooooooooo excited about this!!!!

I'd be willing to make the same contributions I made to Hitotsu Yane no Shita ep 3, should editing be needed again. If called upon, I'd be willing to try to help fill in extra scenes too. However if something goes beyond my ability, I'd need a backup with better Japanese than my own, which is like, a lot of people, lol. As you know my Japanese isn't so hot

I really love this drama when it was on air maybe 10 years ago. Unfortunately, I don't speak Japanese. Do you still want more volunteers for typing things? I raise my hands for that. |
Yes, I sure do! Got you down...

Yes, jump on-board!!!!! I have you down!
BTW, we probably won't get started for about another month. I need to get episode 4 of UTSR out first, then afterwards I can get started digitizing episode 1 of Imouto Yo. BTW, out of everyone that's replied so far, do any of you have experience working with a fansub group? I hope so because I sure don't!

I've only done subbing on my own. Doing things as a group must be easier though (or at least faster), so I'm looking forward to it I assume that good and prompt communication amongst all of us involved will be CRUCIAL

Speaking of Yahoo Japan... I very recently won a couple of key bids on YJ... They include:
1) The OST CD for Imouto Yo
2) The OST CD for Under the Same Roof
3) The two missing Suzuki Fumika race queen cards I was missing!!!!!
Usually it takes about two to three weeks to receive my winnings, so please be patient... When they arrive, I'll be making them available on d-addicts (I'm talking about the OST's, silly!!!!!)

Ah hontou?? Everytime I go on Yahoo Japan, the auctions always say 「海外発送はしません」for what I want, which sucks ;___; I saw this one, that has a bidder....but he won't ship internationally:

This might be a difficult one to find....

I'm glad you didn't bid on that very item because THAT'S THE ONE I JUST WON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YAHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!! I'm totally dancing right now!!!!!
If you know what the winning price was, don't say it... Don't even TELL ME what I have to pay... I'm completely nuts!!!!!
Later in the project, I may start a donation drive of some sort via PayPal. I'll have to think about that down the road... But in the meantime, the PROJECT IS ON!!!!!!!!!!

Oh, yeah... To answer your question, I use a deputy service to bid, purchase, and have items shipped to me in the US. I started using this type of service when I was purchasing original Japanese anime garage kits (can't stand the Thailand 3rd-rate crap). The fees are somewhat expensive, which is why I only use the service on extreme rare cases where you JUST can't find the item anywhere else in the US. However, I do actually consider this particular purchase (and the UTSR laserdisc set) as investments because once I digitize everything to DV, I'm reselling the sets, more likely on eBay.
BTW, the service I use is Rinkya http://www.rinkya.com/ highly recommended... Very professional quality service, great staff, and very speedy shipping with flexible choices of shipping methods.
