hi!
i've been playing a new game recently.. final fantasy xi: online..
and most the players... (the good ones anyway) are japanese, i enjoy playing with them but i cannot seem to communicate with them, and it seems they dont like to play with anyone that can't speak english.. not all are like that.. theyre very nice people...
anyway, i was wondering if anyone can help me translate a few phrases for me so i can interact with them while i play?
thanks in advanced!
here they are...
[1] Can you sell that to me privately? I don't wan't to pay the Bazaar tax.
[2]If you are not busy, can you help me out with something please?
[3]I cannot read Japanese, but I can speak a little.
[4]May I party with you even though I am not Japanese?
[5]How can I help you?

[6]If you're not too busy right now, can you help me with something please?
[7]I'm sorry, I can't read Japanese.
[8]I'll be back in ____ minutes.
[9]I'm sorry, I was already invited to another party.
[10]I can't read Japanese, but I can speak a little.
[11]I can't read Japanese, may I still join the party?
[12]I'm sorry, I'm already in a party.
[13]May I Party with you even though I am not Japanese?
[14]Can you trade me the _itemname_ so I don't pay the _Cityname_ tax?
[15]Did what I say make any sense?
[16]I can speak Japanese with help of a dictionary.
[17]Those words are not found in my dictionary.
[18]What is the ______'s weakness?

1)プライベートにそれを売ってもらえないですか? バザー税を払いたくないので。
2)もしお忙しい様でないなら、ちょっと手伝っていただけると嬉しいです。
3)日本語を読むことはできないですが、少しだけ話すことは出来ます。
4)私は日本人ではないですが、パーティを組んでいただけないでしょうか?
5)お手伝いしましょうか?(May I help you?)
どう、お手伝いしましょうか?or どうしましょう? (How can I help you?)
Sorry, I can not understand what situation do you use "How can I help you?". |

「アイテム名」を探すのを手伝ってもらえませんか?
"Item name" WO SAGASU NOWO TETSUDATTE MORAEMA SENNKA?
? Please wait, I am currently attending other customers.
今、他のお客の応対をしているので、ちょっと待って頂けますか?
IMA, HOKANO OKYAKU NO OUTAI WO SHITEIRU NODE, CHOTTO MATTE ITADAKE MASUKA?
? I was changing areas and may not have received your last message.
I don't understand clearly in what meaning the word "areas" used in the game.
Therefore, translation may be wrong.
エリアを変更したので、あなたの最後のメッセージを受信できませんでした。
'AREA' WO HENKOU SHITANODE, ANATA NO SAIGO NO MESSAGE WO JYUSHIN DEKIMASENN DESHITA.
And you can use these machine translation services.
http://babelfish.altavista.com/
http://www.excite.co.jp/world/
However, they are outputted in Kanji+Kana sentence. In order to know how it should be pronounced, you have to consult a dictionary repeatedly.
But, there are application programs which automates it...

Hey there i'm sure you get alot of this, buuut i need a few phrases translated so that i can use them to communicate what i'm doing with japanese players better. I play final fantasy online, and recently began getting alot more japanese party's then english ones, and it's really difficult communicating what my intentions are ect since i can't speak a word of japanese. So, if someone would be so kind as to translate a few phrases into japanese characters i'd greatly appreciate it
1. Song for melee attackers
2. Song for mages
3. Song for health regen
4. Thank you for inviting me to join your group
5. I'm really tired, can I leave in 15 minutes?
6. Time to take a nap! (as if i'm forcefully putting something to sleep)
hmm i think that's everything i'll need to communicate with the japanese party's i get. Thanks again! |

1. You guys are mean!
君たち、ひどいよ!
KIMITACHI, HIDOI YO!
2. why not?!
なんで?!
NANDE?!
(↑ You can also say なんで+verb in simple past+の?
eg: なんで行かないの?=why don't you go?)
3. would you like to join my party? everyones Japanese except me.
私のパーティに入らない?自分以外みんな日本人です。
WATASHI NO PARTY NI HAIRANAI? JIBUN IGAI MINNA NIHONJIN DESU.
4. would you like to join my party? everyones going to be japanese except me..
私のパーティに入らない?自分以外みんな日本人と組む予定です。
WATASHI NO PARTY NI HAIRANAI? JIBUN IGAI MINNA NIHONJIN TO KUMU YOTEI DESU.
hope this helps.

would be nicer?
|
No. What 100C wrote was fine and is very polite.
助ける is usually used for "helping" someone who is in trouble.
eg: saving someone's life, or helping someone with a serious problem.
| serewen wrote: |
How can i help you? should be
私はどのようにあなたを助けることができますか。
|
Again, what 100C was fine. That is the literal translation, yes, but when someone just comes up and talks to you, どうかしましたか? sounds more normal for the situation here.
If you are a shop, though, いらっしゃいませ!is normal.

ありがとうw
oh and... the "help me" sentence..
when i was asking for help.. the context was like...
more like; can you help me complete a quest?
not like... help! im in danger!
i was wondering if theres a major difference..
because the ingame translator has
"Help me out!"
translated... and a JP in game told me it was used for like... when my life is in danger and i needed help~ not like.. seeking some aid or favor...
anyway.. kokuouサン

After doing a bit of research, this is what i have so far...
1. Song for wizard
魔法使いのための歌
2. Song for warrior
戦士のための歌
3. Regeneration
再生
4. Time to take a nap <name>!
仮眠を取る時間!
After looking up a bit of grammar and form, i think they are the correct ways of communicating my intentions. but i'm not sure. trying to learn japanese grammar and form in 24 hours is kinda hard >< |

For number 5, "I'm really tired, is it ok to leave in 15 minutes" or whatever, a good translation is:
つかれたから15分でやめってもいいですか? |
