Mizuki Alisa to star as detective in drama series �gAnswer�h

Actress and singer Mizuki Alisa has landed another starring role in a drama series. This spring, she will play a police detective for the first time in �gAnswer ~ Keishichou Kenshou Sousakan�h on Wednesday nights on TV Asahi.
This will be Mizuki�fs 24th starring role in a television drama series. Since 1992, she has starred in at least one drama series every year. �gAnswer�h has been scheduled for TV Asahi�fs Wednesday 9:00pm time slot, which has a strong reputation for popular detective dramas, including �gAibou,�h �gKeishichou Sousa Ikka 9 Gakari,�h and �gRinjo.�h
Mizuki will play the part of Shinkai Akira, an officer at police headquarters whose career has fallen off the promotion track due to a certain case. As a result, she gets assigned to the Evidence Division. Although the division originally played the critical role of re-verifying evidence in order to prevent the possibility of false charges, its duties now simply consist of stamping reports from the investigation divisions. While the other members in the Evidence Division have lost their enthusiasm for their work, Akira takes it upon herself to revitalize the team.
Supporting cast members have not yet been announced. The series will premiere sometime in April.

Cast revealed for the third episode of �gBlackboard�h miniseries

In January, it was announced that TBS is planning a 3-episode drama miniseries titled �gBlackboard ~Jidai to Tatakatta Kyoushitachi~,�h telling stories of teachers in different time periods as they deal with the problems of their era. The main casts for the first two episodes were already revealed: Sakurai Sho (Arashi) and Oshima Yuko (AKB48) for the first, and Sato Koichi and Shida Mirai for the second. Now, the third episode�fs cast has been finalized.
Like Sakurai and Sato, Matsushita Nao will play a junior high school teacher for the third episode. All of the episodes are set at the same school in Tokyo, from just after World War II (Sakurai�fs episode) to the period following Japan�fs postwar economic boom (Sato�fs episode) to just after the Tohoku earthquake (Matsushita�fs episode).
Matsushita�fs character is a passionate teacher trying to teach ideas of courage and hope to a classroom full of distrustful students. Kamiki Ryunosuke and Matsui Jurina (SKE48) will play two of the students, while Kato Shigeaki (NEWS) plays an assistant teacher. Baisho Mitsuko will play the school�fs principal.
�gBlackboard�h is scheduled to air on three consecutive nights, from April 5 to April 7.

Tabe Mikako to star as teacher in new �gNaniwa Shonen Tanteidan�h drama series

Actress Tabe Mikako (23) will star in a TBS drama series this summer, �gNaniwa Shonen Tanteidan.�h The series will have her playing the part of a teacher for the first time.
�gNaniwa Shonen Tanteidan�h is based on a novel of the same name by mystery writer Higashino Keigo. The story was adapted as a television drama series once before in 2000, starring Yamada Mariya.
Tabe will play the role of Takeuchi Shinobu, an energetic elementary school teacher who loves mystery novels. The story takes place at a fictional school in downtown Osaka, and it follows Shinobu as she works together with a group of her students to solve various incidents around her.
The members of her �gdetective team�h consist of Maeda Koki (13) of child comedy duo Maeda Maeda, Hamada Tatsuomi (11), and Takahashi Akira (12). Three of their female classmates will be played by Yagi Yuki (11), Hamabe Minami (11), and Ninomiya Akari (9).
Koike Teppei (26) will play Shuhei, a police detective who has feelings for Shinobu. Other cast members include Danta Yasunori as Shuhei�fs superior, Matsuzaka Keiko as Shinobu�fs mother, Kohinata Fumiyo as the school�fs head teacher, Yamamoto Koji, Nukumizu Yoichi, and Saito Yuki.
Hisamoto Masami, Tomita Yasuko, and Kimura Yuichi have already been announced as guests for the first episode.
TBS will broadcast the series on Monday nights at 8:00pm, starting in July.

Kawaguchi Haruna, Hayami Mocomichi to star in �gHoukago wa Mystery to Tomo ni�h drama series

Following the success of the �gNazotoki wa Dinner no Ato de�h drama adaptation, another adaptation of a Higashigawa Tokuya novel has been green-lit. Higashigawa�fs �gHoukago wa Mystery to Tomo ni�h will be turned into a drama series on TBS this spring, starring Kawaguchi Haruna (17) and Hayami Mocomichi (27).
�gHoukago wa Mystery to Tomo ni,�h sometimes abbreviated as �gHouMisu,�h is a side story of the popular �gKoigakubo Gakuen Tanteibu�h series, which consists of two other novels. Together, the three books have more than 300,000 copies in print.
Kawaguchi plays the part of Kirigamine Ryo, the vice-president of the detective club at Koigakubo Academy. Although she is full of confidence as she tries to solve various mysteries at school, her reasoning is generally full of holes. While she can�ft immediately close each case, she gradually reaches the right conclusion with the help of those around her.
Hayami will play an unusual biology teacher named Ishizaki Hiromi.
TBS will broadcast the series in its �gDrama NEO�h time slot (Monday nights, 12:20am-12:59am), starting April 23. A total of 10 episodes are planned.

Suzuki Fuku to star as detective in drama series �gKodomo Keisatsu�h

Child actor Suzuki Fuku (7) has been given his first starring role in a drama series. He will take on the challenging role of a middle-aged detective who looks like a child in �gKodomo Keisatsu�h on TBS this spring.
Suzuki plays a veteran detective who is the head of a special investigation unit with the Kanagawa prefectural police. While pursuing an evil organization known as Red Venus, he gets exposed to a special gas that turns his body into a child�fs. Sexy Zone member Marius Yo (11) and �gKaseifu no Mita�h actress Honda Miyu (7) will play two co-workers who have also been affected.
Katsuji Ryo (25) will play a rookie detective who is treated as an underling by Suzuki and the other detectives.
�gKodomo Keisatsu�h will air on Tuesday nights at 12:55am, starting April 17.

Kimura Yoshino to star in NHK drama series �gHatsukoi�h

Kimura Yoshino (35) will star in a drama series on NHK this spring, titled �gHatsukoi.�h The last time she led an NHK drama series was 9 years ago, in the 2003 series �gNikoniko Nikki.�h
�gHatsukoi�h is a love story written by screenwriter Nakazono Miho, who previously worked on shows such as �gYamato Nadeshiko�h and �gHaken no Hinkaku.�h
Kimura plays a speech therapist named Midori. Her first love, a man named Mishima (played by Ihara Tsuyoshi), betrayed her by breaking a promise they made. While despairing over the betrayal, she met a younger man named Jun (played by Aoki Munetaka) and later married. One day, her happy life with Jun is interrupted when she is diagnosed with liver cancer, and the only doctor who can perform the difficult surgery required happens to be Mishima. Although Midori had hoped to never think of Mishima again, his sudden appearance causes a disturbance in her heart.
Other cast members include Sato Eriko, Hashimoto Ai, Cunning Takeyama, and Sonim.
�gHatsukoi�h is scheduled to run for 8 episodes in NHK�fs Tuesday 10:00pm time slot, starting May 22.
Yuusha Yoshihiko to take on a new quest in October
On May 16th, it was announced by TV Tokyo that the iconic low-budget adventure drama �eYuusha Yoshihiko to Maou no Shiro�e is going to return with a second season in October.
The original series of �eYuusha Yoshihiko to Maou no Shiro�f, starring actor Yamada Takayuki, aired last summer and was able to charm many viewers with its homage to the popular �eDragon Quest�f franchise and the love for detail despite the extremely low budget. However, it also was the low-budget that gave it the a unique and �ghandmade�h feel that made it such a lovely series. It even became the best-selling Japanese TV drama of 2011 on Amazon Japan, which shows how much people loved this series.
The producers made clear that the second season won�ft change this formula at all, which means there won�ft be a higher budget nor are they planning to increase its scale.
Of course Yamada will reprise his role as Yoshihiko. He commented, �gJust like last time, I�fd like to give it my 70% and hope that it will be just as fun and stupid.�h
The director of the first season, Fukuda Yuichi, will work on the second season as well. All of Yoshihiko�fs comrades played by Kinami Haruka, Muro Tsuyoshi, Sato Jiro, and Takuma Shin, who helped him defeat the devil king at the end of the first season, will also appear in the new season.
The official title for the second season has yet to be announced.
Oguri Shun and Ishihara Satomi to star in Fuji TV�fs upcoming Monday drama
Fuji TV has just announced their Monday drama (�eGetsu 9��) for the upcoming summer season and it�fs going to star Oguri Shun and Ishihara Satomi in a modern Japanese version of �ePretty Woman�e called �eRich Man, Poor Woman�e.
Oguri plays a billionaire and manager of a major IT company. Similar to the life of Facebook co-founder Mark Zuckerberg, he had become a billionaire when his website, which started out only as a hobby, gradually started to gain more and more popularity. However, due to his lack of management skills and despicable personality, people often label him as swindler and otaku*.
Ishihara, on the other hand, plays a very talented young woman who is about to graduate from the Department of Science at Tokyo University. However, due to the current scarcity of employment, she hasn�ft yet received any positive feedback from any of the applications she sent out. She is veering towards leading a poor life in her future. One day, the pair happen to run into each other, which doesn�ft end really well at first due to the disparity in their personalities, but they soon start to feel attracted to each other.
This is going to be Oguri�fs first starring role in a drama since his marriage to actress Yamada Yu. The last time he and Ishihara worked together was during the filming of the NHK taiga drama �eYoshitsune�e back in 2005. He commented, �gI�fm really looking forward to this modern version of �ePretty Woman�f. Of course I�fm also looking forward to working together with Ishihara and to find out how this love story is going to develop.�h
Ishihara stated, �gAlthough I�fm really happy that I get to co-star with Oguri in a drama, I first got to know him when I was still in my teens (when we filmed �eYoshitsune�f), which is why I�fm feeling a bit awkward that it has to be a love story.�h
The rest of the main cast includes Aibu Saki as an up-and-coming female chef and Iura Arata (formerly known under his stage name ARATA) as her older brother and co-manager of the IT company, who together complete the love square.
The midsummer evening romance �eRich Man, Poor Woman�f is scheduled to air its first episode in July.

On May 20th, NTV announced a new drama for the upcoming summer season called �eGhost Mama Sousasen ~Boku to Mama no Fushigi na 100 Nichi~�e starring actress Nakama Yukie in the role of a ghost.
Nakama is going to play a police woman working at a Community Safety Department called Uehara Choko. Uehara has a very bright and obliging personality and cannot look away when other people are in trouble. She�fs living a happy family life together with her husband played Sawamura Ikki, her daughter played by Shida Mirai, and her son played Kimino Yuma.
One day she suddenly dies, however, since she�fs too worried about her cowardly son, she cannot go to heaven just yet and returns to the world as a ghost. Although she wanted to become a ghost in order to meet her son again, her great skills as a police woman soon make rounds throughout the world of ghosts who now seek her help in order to free them from their regrets.
Together with her son, she�fs now out to to catch various atrocious criminals in order to settle those old cases. It�fs a criminal and human drama in which the characters experience personal growth with each case, mixed with a certain amount of fantasy and comedic elements.
Nakama commented, �gI hope we can make it a drama that touches the hearts and spirits of everyone who is watching it.�h
The five-year-old Kimino was picked out of 100 candidates who auditioned for the role of the son. He innocently commented, �gI have a lot of difficulties remembering my lines, but I want to have fun together with everyone and try my best.�h Nakama added, �gWhen I first met him, he smiled at me and gave me a very energetic greeting. I�fm sure we�fre going to have a lot of fun during the filming.�h
NTV is going to air �eGhost Mama Sousasen�f every Saturday at 9:00 pm starting in July.

It was announced on May 20 that actor Kamikawa Takaya�fs TV Asahi�fs drama �eIryu Sousa�e will come back with a new series starting in July.
This will be the second season of �eIryu Sousa�f as the first season was aired during April to June 2011. The detective drama tells the story of detective Itomura Satoshi (Kamikawa), who can �ghear�h voices of the dead from things left behind at crime scenes.
Producer Miwa Yumiko enthusiastically stated, �gI want this drama to bring up popular detective series like �eAibou�e and �eRinjo�e.�h
In the previous series, Itomura was in the First Investigation Division at the metropolitan police department, but in the new series, he was relegated to Tsukishima Central Police Station, which is in a more peaceful town. Saito Yuki, Yashima Norito and Miyake Yuji will appear in the series as new cast members.

On May 24th, TBS revealed the full cast for the upcoming medical drama �eSummer Rescue ~Tenkuu no Shinryojo~�e starring Mukai Osamu.
The drama will be set in a small mountain clinic 2,000 meters above sea level. Mukai plays the role of �eHayami Keigo�f, a young cardiac surgeon who has a bright future ahead of him working at a university hospital. However, his superior commands him to examine patients at a small clinic in the mountains for the summer. In a harsh environment cut off from modern equipment, Hayami returns to the origin of medicine, and undergoes a change.
Ono Machiko is going to play the heroine �eKoyama Haruka�f, who decided to become a nurse in Tokyo after she lost her mother in a mountain accident when she was five-years-old. One day, due to a certain incident, she leaves Tokyo again, and settles down with her father at the same time as Hayami�fs move. It�fs Ono�fs first drama role since starring in the morning drama �eCarnation�e .
Mukai said about Ono, �gShe�fs a very interesting and also a very reliable actress in my opinion.�h He continued, �gAs for the relationship between our characters, I think that Hayami is always being led by Haruka. It already starts with her calling him before he makes a move. Throughout the drama, the relationship between those two might change. I can�ft wait to find out how it�fs going to develop at the set.�h
Ono replied, �gI�fve seen Mukai in various dramas, and I hope I can get to know him better with this opportunity.�h
It was also announced that actor Tokito Saburo is going to play the manager of the mountain clinic. He commented, �gI love doing things outdoors, which is why I�fm all fired up about filming it at such a harsh location. Being the �ebackcountry actor�f that I am, I�fm going to try my best in order to turn �eSummer Rescue�f into a good drama.�h
The drama is also going to feature young actress Nounen Rena. In �eSummer Rescue�f, she�fs going to play a medical student.
The rest of the cast includes Koike Eiko as a veteran nurse and child actress Honda Miyu as her daughter, Sasano Takashi as Haruka�fs father, Sato Jiro as another doctor, and Matsushige Yutaka as Hayami�fs superior. There will also be appearances by Miura Rieko, Yamazaki Shigenori, Ichikawa Yui, Suda Masaki, Totsugi Shigeyuki, and Nakada Yoshiko.

On May 28th, Fuji TV announced that young actress Takei Emi and actor Eguchi Yosuke are going to play a pair of lovers in the upcoming summer drama �eIki mo Dekinai Natsu�e.
A 19-year-old girl burdened by a cruel destiny, a 41-year-old man living in atonement, and a forbidden love that cannot be accepted by the people around them. �eIki mo Dekinai Natsu�f is as much a social drama as it is a love story.
Takei plays a girl who learns that her mother never recorded her birth in their family register. While falling into despair after finding out the secret about her birth yet wholeheartedly trying to live to regain �eherself�f, she happens to run into a former journalist (Eguchi) who is suffering from a deep scar in his heart himself. Although they could be father and daughter, they start to develop much stronger feelings for each other.
The two actors will also have a great team of supporting actors to portray various intriguing characters around them. The mother of the 19-year-old girl will be played by Kimura Yoshino.
Moreover, the lead female works at a shop that sells sweets and is often visited by a mysterious old man played by Kitaouji Kinya. There is also another lonely young man, played Nakamura Aoi, who is in love with her. Her grandmother will be played by Asada Miyoko. One man with a daring smile who seems to fudge with the destiny of all the characters involved will be played by Kaname Jun.
Fuji TV is going to air �eIki mo Dekinai Natsu�f every Tuesday at 9:00 pm, starting in July.
