I'm not sure where to post this, but since I'm looking for a word in Japanese, I figured I'd start here first.

I see sometimes (in movies and TV shows) how a flint and steel is held overhead to make sparks as a sort of blessing. I assume that this comes from Shinto or Shingon ritual, probably very ancient.

What's the name in Japanese for this practice? Is this term used commonly in Japanese to suggest blessings?

Thanks!
