Are there people living in Japan over here? Otherwise, I know not of other places having such updated telecast of the show.

Besides Good Luck, I quite look forward the "Beauty & the Beast" by Fukuyama & Matsushima Nanako. Also "Itsumo Futaride" by Matsu Takako... Both in the latest season. Looks promising.

Kimura Takuya has done it again: during a year in which virtually all the stars have failed to get decent ratings (bad periode for drama), Kimura Takuya's dramas remain unaffected: an audience of 31.6% watched the first episode of Good Luck. Compare this to the second best rating: Beast and Beauty from Nanako Matsushima got 20%.
Takuya is still by far and away the most popular artist in Japan, only he can score such a rating while the likes of Ryoko Hirosue, Takenouchi, Sorimachi, and Fujiki Naohito etc barely make the 10%....

Yep. U can find the ratings here (In Japanese):

http://www.videor.co.jp/data/ratedata/top10.htm#drama

1st episode ratings you might be interested:

31.6% GOOD LUCK (Takuya)
20% Beauty & the Beast (Fukuyama & Matsushima)
18.2% Itsumo Futari de (Matsu Takako)
14.9% Koukou Kyoushi (Fujiki Naohito & Ueto Aya)

Also, I see that Period dramas (ie, Musashi, Manten) are getting average ratings of around 20% which is considered pretty well received already. Has this always been the trend? Or is it only recently? Sorry I'm asking b'cos I'm not familiar with Period dramas. Just curious.

You can also find the ratings here btw:
http://dorama.info/

As to which area it is for, it's for everywhere in Japan where there's a television with cable Smile

hey, thanks for the info guys ...

first episode ratings are indeed 31.6%!!

just to spread the good news around ... exceptional praise for the drama and kimura takuya in particular, from the daily yomiuri papers ... sure most of u regulars would already have read the piece:

http://www.yomiuri.co.jp/newse/20030130woa7.htm

catch it soon cos they archive the page after a short time.

This drama scored a rating 31.6% first week. Kimura Takuya magic did it again. This is a very enjoyable and he proves to many drama fans that he still has it. The interesting relationship between the leads and suppoting cast is great! In addition, this is rare that Kimura had shown a father and son relationship, except "A Sleeping Forest"! I have been waiting for a good dorama like this for a while! A MUST watch for the season...
