A very sad event in Japan. There was only one killed, over 400 ppl were injured. The damage wasn't high, that's good.. A massive clearing up operation has begun. A sad day to insurance companies as well, I wonder if insurance companies cover up the damage by eartquake. It is estimated that there'll be a massive earthquake in Kanto region within this decade, as horrified as the Great Kanto earthquake claimin the lives of 142 000 ppl in 1923 Shake Head Sweat

ok what I want to know is what is that sound that can be heard in animes, jdramas, and jmovies. It usually happens when the anime/drama/movie is on a Summer time scene and outdoors. It sounds something like this
wwwwwweeeeeeeppppppp weeeeeeeeeeeeeeep wwweeeeep

I heard it the most in Neon Genesis Evangelion and alot of times in Japanese Dramas.

Im guessing its some kind of Summer bird or bug!? Google

it is the cicadas. i dont remember which drama, maybe gto?, it shows the actual bug while the noise is being made. i think that the cicada is a very common insect around japan, so it always appears in dramas and anime.

Cicadas, or in JPNese (pronounced "semi") are plentiful in the summertime in JPN. More info here.
