when i just had BT after id had completely dl' a drama,i left my window open for so terribly long that my pc started to get overheated....(i must have like terribly exceeded my limited bw too btw)
later on,i did notice that very few people were doing the same for me actually...so now,i always close BT after dl(which takes for like 7-10 hours),turn my pc off and let seed it again if i put it back on,or when a friend requests it...i do understand jem's feelings...he did a good job and i can't blame him for leaving...even though i will miss mukodono eps
Quote:
It all turned well. If you really want drama series - buy them
if i had that possibility i wouldn't even be using BT
Quote:
Jem isn't going to be the last one who's cutting of his bt sites!
i think so too...i just hope that now jem and pelm,JTV doesn't go as well Sad

The problem is when Jem seeds and ep and the fist 3-4 finished close their BT windows before they send to anyone else, then Jem has to start from basically the beginning of that seed and send to everyone else all over again, wasting lots of time sending when he needs to get the files sent out to make space for the next days encodes... this was a long sentence Smile

Exactly, I understand that, but there isn't a way that he could send to some of his trustees (IP send, maybe) 3 or 4 and then he would move on to the next episodes, and his trustees would stay there for couple of hours helping spread for the rest.

He is implimenting that once he wakes up today... then its up to the people he trusts to decide wether to seed the eps on BT or just do oldfasioned fservs to share the files, everythin will be decided in a few hours...

I agree with lovelessemotion, it's really no big deal to leave your Bittorrent site open for the time you are not using your computer, like going to school, work, over night even if you just go out for a hour or so!
If everybody would do this this whole mess wouldn't have happened!
And I'm telling you this; Jem isn't going to be the last one who's cutting of his bt sites!

btw: go and download Classic!!! One of the sadest movies I've ever seen (cried about 15 minutes!) *crybaby* Sweat

Yes The Classic was a sad and very romantic movie. Happy and sad ending at the same time. This is how love should be like. I would also recommend ppl to see "A Man Who Went to Mars".

Wouldn't a good alternative to IRC be a Direct Connect Hub!
Using Direst Connect is way easier than IRC !!!

Belive me... everyone should still be able to get everythin from BT, just not from Jem directly anymore. He's seeding to his small group of ppl and most of them have decied to seed that to others later, not only to fserv.... Smile

drakflame21's right. Look on the bright side of things. Once the public initial seeding starts... you have 4/5 seeds all at one go doing the seeding... you might be able to download faster than before Wink

I for one have to leave me bittorent open since I'm going off of a dial up and do all my downloading overnight.

So for those of us who want the series Jem's done, what do we do? I know he did some Taiwanese drama, which I wanted (was going to take me forever, but I was more than willing). Am I, then, just out of luck???

I've tried to find some of the thing on fansub site, but honestly the one I do know of (won't mention names) is fantastic, but at this point my budget for fansubs is nil.

Ditto. It also seems to smack of moral supperiorty, which also burns my pancakes a litte.

The thing is, many of the Doramas out that are Engilsh subtitled can only be aquired through either fansubs or through copies off of TV. Sure there are *some* titles you can buy as well that have english subs, but they're few and far between.... And before someone gets on the "learn Japanese" trip, the fact is how realistic is that? I mean many people just don't have the time or want to bother to learn it, period. Or if someone has a learning disability, should they just be screwed?

The fact is that for many people the only way they can really have access to Dorama is through trade, download or mail distro. Short of moving to Hawaii or California, most of us are pretty much out of luck when it comes to this little hobbie. The one thing that can be said for it is this... it at leasts get Dorama out ther, and maybe one day we will see more commercial companies picking these titles up or putting them on DVD/VHS for the public. It's like with the Shoujo Romance / Slice of Life animes... How many years did it take for the companies out there to realize that this was a marketable genre? And the fact is if it hadn't been for Fansubs, and the fact they PROVED it was marketable, we wouldn't see the influx of things like Marmalade Boy, Peach Girl, adn Hana Yori Dango on the shelves today.

I agree.
Be realistic.. not everyone has access to dorama even if they wanted to buy them!

I've actually bought series while overseas on holidays.
Of cos, they are all in chinese with no english subs.. LOL..
I don't understand a single word when its in mandarin but I buy it to look anyway.

When I see a series with english subs, it's like mana from heaven!!
Especially when you live in a xenophobic country like Australia.. *sigh*

It is as much legal as all those pirated chinese dvds are.
The quality is worse though.

Like animetama, I am also in Australia. It's almost impossible to access J-Drama here so I'm always looking for ways to watch the newer ones. When I went for my holiday to China last year, I tried to buy as many that I knew as I could. Now back in Australia, I'm once again lacking stuff to watch. I was very happy when I discovered BT but found I didn't have a lot of luck with getting drama from it T_T;
