Ai Kato holds her wedding at Toranomon Hills


Kato Ai who registered her marriage to her husband on 22 November last year, held her wedding at the newly-opened Toranomon Hills on 14 June. The ceremony was held at the chapel on the top floor of the building and the wedding reception held at Andaz Tokyo within the same building.

The couple met through friends several years ago and started dating last spring.

Ai Kato gives birth to a baby girl in US

Kato Ai had given birth to her first baby girl in the United States as announced by her agency on 14 September. Both mother and daughter are said to be doing well. According to her agency, Kato wanted to keep her pregnancy a secret until she gave birth so as to avoid the media attention.

In her statement, Kato said that although she had her fair share of worries during the pregnancy, she was glad about the smooth delivery and is filled with gratitude. She hopes to keep this feeling in mind as she tries to learn how to be a mother and thanked everyone for their support.

Kato married a company director who is 7 years older than her on 22 November 2013.

Ai Kato to appear in FujiTV 2017 Spring drama


Kato Ai will be making her return to acting in the 5th and 6th episodes of FujiTV Spring 2017 drama "Kizoku Tantei" which will be shown on 15th and 22nd May. This marks her first appearance in a drama in 3 years since she appeared in TBS drama "Dr. DMAT" in 2014 and gave birth to her first child in September 2015.

Kato will be playing Toyosato Satsuki, the granddaughter of Sakuragawa Takaaki (Ryu Raita) who is known as the "last fixer of Japan". In order to know the background of Kizoku Tantei (Aiba Masaki), Aika (Takei) pays a visit to Sakuragawa's residence where she is welcomed by Satsuki who is there to take part in a ceremony to choose a husband for Sakuragawa's granddaughter Yayoi (Kita Kana). During the ceremony, the last participant suddenly collapses and dies which leads to the beginning of a serial murder case.

Kato commented that when she first read the script, she had the impression that her character is a well-mannered and elegant lady but the producer said that Satsuki has a tomboy, curious and mischievous side too so she hopes to be able to show this through her acting. As for working with Aiba again since their last collaboration in the 2012 NTV drama "Mikeneko Holmes no Suiri", Kato said that Aiba is still the same relaxed and gentle guy she has known and that he is very suitable to play the character of Kizoku Tantei.

Ai Kato announces the birth of her second child

On June 13th, Ai Kato announced the birth of her second child thru her agency. The baby's sex was not revealed, but mother and child are doing fine. Kato will eventually resume her activities.

Kato married a non-celebrity man in November of 2013. They welcomed their first child, a daughter, in August of 2015.
