1. Almost as good [Rating: 8/10]
Whenever there is a second, one always compares it to the first. I enjoyed this series, and although I missed Akiki and Manami, I think the second Hotman continued to please the audience as it did the first time.

That being said, I do have a few qualms. I didn't like how they revamped Shima's character. The Shima in this series seemed so different from the first. And although Misaki did an excellent job, and although I don't prefer one role over the other, I wish they had kept it consistant. It also hugely bothered me that Misuzu wasn't in this series. Her relationship was Enzo was so established in the first series it just seems out-of-place for them to have broken up. I absolutely LOVE Miho as an actress, but her character in this drama seemed unnecessary. Especially since her love was one-sided and considered a big joke in the end. Totally unfair to an otherwise promising character. They should have had Miho play Misuzu in this series as well. If they could change the actresses for Shima's character, why not for Misuzu's as well?

I still enjoyed the family dynamic and the message/values that were being protrayed. I liked that Enzo wasn't perfect and that he was often pointed out as a hypocrite.

The ending was fine, but incomplete. It's as if they were thinking of making a third season.

Still, it was a fab drama and I recommend it to all.

2. Changing Shima is the worst thing to happen. [Rating: 6/10]
I like the storyline for Hotman 2 too, but the storyline is somewhat a slightly similiar to Hotman. Well, there are differences and new storylines, but I still felt nothing much has change from Hotman, except they change the actress for Shima and did a very very bad job in covering it up. Actually, it wasn't even a cover up, they just intro her at the very first episode so that the shocked of viewers will be felt early on and then they make it as if nothing has happened.
If you take Hotman 2 and edit some small parts, then slap another title in it, it will stand on it's own. Or you can say it can be a retelling of the storyline of Hotman.
Well, the changing of Shima with another actress did nothing good for the series. Hotman one still beats the crap out of it's own sequel.

3. First series= the best one... [Rating: 7/10]
I like the idea that they were going for, but to replace the original Shima, wasn't too good, and the way they tried to diguise it, didn't work.
The EXILE member playing the vege salesmen, was good, but only a right love chemistry to the new actress of Shima's character, he wouldn't match with the original, which is kind of confusing since the first Hotman series, Shima lost her love, and now they add another...o.O
Saitou's are my fav. but still the over acting, and what's with the hair style of Keita? Lol, seeing Shouta in his boxers/briefs, was funny, and the little plushie in the form of a corn was SO adorable...
The girl playing Ichigo, was great, and I see her as becoming the next famous actress...^_^

4. 2nd season is not worth to see... [Rating: 3/10]
The beginning started out alright but i was disappointed to see they have changed shima's actress, misaki just doesnt have the same vibe as minami!! misaki seemed a little 'bitchy' at times... And double the disappointed when they simply brushed off misuzu-sensei and enzo relationship without going into any details (i bought the 2nd season in hope to see more! U_U )
The story overall was cheesy and even more overly dramatic (including the fake enzo yelling), some of the story became too long and no point. Just as what the previous reviewers said, I think they may have rushed the ending from the last two episodes, making the whole story meaningless and waste of time...

5. Hotman was better [Rating: 7/10]
I preferred the 1st Hotman due to a few reasons:

1. Nanami was younger & cuter
2. I liked the blossoming romance between Sorimachi & Yada and had hoped to see more of it in Hotman 2 but was disappointed that it wasn't continued
3. They changed actress for the eldest sister, Shima, which was totally way out cos they retained everyone else but her. I found it hard to accept her as the same sister in Hotman.

otherwise, the dorama is pretty ok, the family bonding is still very strong amongst these siblings eventho it's been 2 years since we last saw them and they've each moved on in their lives.

6. Pales in comparison with season 1 [Rating: 6/10]
This second season of Hotman seems to drag out even more than the first. The script had several subplots that never really got resolved, leaving the viewer with the feeling that many loose ends were just left dangling. The finale lacked passion and the whole dorama suffered from poor execution of the script, which was not stupendous to begin with. All in all, a rather pointless time-waster - just watch Hotman 1 and leave it at that is what I'd recommend

7. A bit of a dissapointment [Rating: 7/10]
I enjoyed hotman, so of course I had to check out hotman 2. The first thing you'll notice is they replaced Shima's character with Misaki Itoh. That's a major minus in my book. I do like Itoh, however she's in way too many Jdramas now and I get kind of tired of seeing her everywhere. Plus her style in the 2nd series is incredibly different than the timmid Shima from the first show. Besides that, it's more of the same really.

Very good sequel. I agree it's overdramatic sometimes and the ending could be more interesting, but in overall it's a lot of fun and I enjoyed new cast members.

Alright Hotman 2 was really good as the first one but the reason why i donLt rate this as higher as the first one is because this one has many Nanami episodes and sheLs too young to carry a show by herself, being kawaii is not enough.
I really liked the new Shima(Itoh Misaki), in Hotman 2 she has much more personality and isnLt just the perfect housekeeper like in Hotman 1.
It was good to see a development in Hinata and the twins personality too, they really evolved since the first one.
Enzo(Sorimachi Takashi) continued with the overacting but at least his overall acting got better.
As far as the teacher/EnzoLs "love interest", Ayame(Shiraishi Miho) was a much better character then Misuzu from the first Hotman, she had like that tsundere personality that i love so much, really good character.
I loved all the comedy scenes in this, particulary the one when Enzo found the twins with their grilfriends at home lol.
The only crappy thing about this was the end where Enzo refuses AyameLs love confession in a very idiotic way.
2. Comments by Kitsuchi [Rating: 8/10]
I will say as the most already said, that the first Hotman was better than this. At the beginning, I was chocked and didn't liked that they have changed the actress of Shima, but as I watched more I began to being used to her anyway, so actually, it didn't bother me that much.
And the reason I like the first Hotman better is probably because Sorimachi was a liiiittle too much in this second. He was overreacting alot, even though he maybe did the right thing sometimes. But I felt that he never left anything for his siblings - always told them that they was wrong or something like that.
And then, I liked that we got to know more about Nanami and Ichigo and how their friendship gets deeper and sweeter.
Anyway, Hotman 2 is absolutely watchable and worth the time even though that. Because we do want to now the continuation of the Hotman 1, right?
3. Comments by nishishi [Rating: 8/10]
As most of ppl who have watched HOTMAN2 i was like "WtF?" when i first saw Shima... Actually i wouldn't mind if they had only changed the actress (Altough imo Konishi Manami is much better of an actress than Itoh Misaki) however they completely changed Shima's character as well...

Ryonosuke, Haiji and Hinata have the same personality they had on the first show... But Shima is less shy... less caring... Well.. i didnt like that at all...

Afterall i must say that i liked the first one better... But i gotta say that i think that HOTMAN2 is funnier than the previous one.

HOTMAN2 is a good dorama... but the "original" one is waaaay better than this!!!

5. Comments by curian4 [Rating: 7/10]
The second season is not very nice because they replaced the old SHima with Itoh Masaki and she sometimes over-reacts on her acting and i was bitterly dissapointed that Yada Akiko did not appear in the second season because I fell that they were so cute together. The ending was also a dissapointment because they seem to rush the ending. Depite all this complains, i still think that the second season was not bad but it just falls short compared with the first seasson.

Jan 2005: Its started out very good, even better than hotman 1, with 2 cute little girls, nanami and ichigo, but the ending really sucked, that's why towards the end the rating getting worse and worse, less than 10%.......i fast forwarded the last 3 episodes -_-"" Lack of originality and the storyline seems abit plain, new cast such as Ichigo and Ayame sensei did a great job to save the show. Dunno why everytime Enzo mad his voice will become very weird....feels very fake.
7. Comments by moonchyld [Rating: 7/10]
ito misaki is soooo bad in this drama it hurts. she totally destroyed the love and togetherness the previous drama tried to build up. she felt like she wasn't exactly a part of the family, a selfish outsider who made blunder after blunder. thankfully nanami's still cute and saves this drama from becoming horrible. the story focused more on her than on the other family members nor enzo, which wasn't that bad, but fairs lower than the first hotman.
8. Comments by Shindou [Rating: 6/10]
i have to say this dorama was a big disappointment. the whole show was not very well executed even with the rather reasonable script. all the characters seemed to lack realism i got the sense that the dorama was running out of steam as it progressed. For those who haven't watched this, i would simply recommend watching the first season and stop there, no point dragging out the banality for another 12 episodes.
9. Comments by SayaOtonashi [Rating: ?/10]
I left this jdorama in the middle of it. I didn't like Konishi Manami's replacement (Itoh Misaki) at all, and overall the show just seemed more of the same thing. It didn't manage to get my attention on the new problems the family must face. I'm not saying it is a bad dorama (it isn't, in fact) but I just left it behind and never came back to it. Not willing to do it, either.
10. Comments by aiscess [Rating: 8/10]
I just can't help but to compare it to the first season, especially now that Ito Misaki is the one portraying Shima instead of Konishi Manami. I really felt that the presence of Shima, portrayed by Konishi, was the one missing in this series which was more like a mother-like figure. And so, I felt like Nanami lost a mother and Enzo gained another sister.

i was moved many times at how enzo did things to show how much he care his siblings and always worryin abt his little daughter, nanami who has very sensitive skin but nanami... she's always smilin :) this show is depicts alot on family values.. though i hv not seen hotman1 but hotman 2 is really worth watchin...
12. Comments by williu [Rating: 7/10]
Sorimachi's acting talent is impressive, there's no doubt about it. But that's not enough to carry a whole drama, where most of the other actors are less than mediocre. The story and overall feel of the episodes is better than in the first season though. It's a nice, warm drama, but nothing more.
13. Comments by aik0 [Rating: 5/10]
Category: Roof. Plot get used up pretty quick. Other than the first few episodes, there is no central theme or no sense of urgency thru out the serie. The ending only makes the story trivial or meaningless. It's always nice to watch Takashi act but the story is not going anywhere.
14. Comments by Sun_Shang_Xiang [Rating: 8/10]
It's a pity they replaced Konishi Manami with Itoh Misaki, as a result her character totally changed. Itoh Misaki seems to always end up in dramas working part time as a hostess, something I can't imagine had Konishi Manami (who is the better actress) continued in the role.
15. Comments by yume [Rating: 6/10]
Possibly cheesier than its predecessor, but with a lot more focus on the daughter, which is good, because she's adorable and fun to watch. If possible, Sakamachi is at his CHEESIEST ever. That's why it gets a six, it all feels overacted.

i like both part 1 and 2.. they are both nice and touching. esp when it shows that love that enzo have for her daughter nanami...though nanami is not as cute as when she's young but being at her age i think she is pretty gd
=)

Actually, I'd watched Hotman 2, before I'd watched Hotman. I really admired the girl, she really can act well :) I love her :) The others also acted well... The twins leave me with a good impression of them, hahaha

Not filled with as many classic moments as the first, replacing the original Shima wasn't the best idea, but the Saitou brothers were amusing, and Sorimachi displays his usual personality of the in charge adult...

Not as great as Hotman 1. Kinda same stories going.. with some heartfelt moments. And change of actress, Misaki Itoh, it was my first time seeing her playing a non goofy role, and it wasnt bad either :)

once again .. nanami is sooooo kawaiii !!!!!!!! hahaz .. but a little not used to Itoh Misaki's "Shima" ... prefer Konishi Manami's version of Shima more .... but the storyline is still very touchy ~~

Combining the same heart warming story of the first season, Hotman 2 is a great series and another must watch! The story seems to lack a little here and there but Sorimachi again delivers his best.

the beginning is very interesstant, but as the story goes, it lost his appeal, and the ending is a big disapointed. quite recomended to watch

An okay dorama, but not as good as the first season.. there were some moments where I thought they were overdoing it a little - making a big deal out of some pretty small things.
24. Comments by Mega-L [Rating: 8/10]
It was good, but there was a little to much of Enzo getting mad, then the family getting mad, then everyone forgiving everyone, that cycle repeated itself quite a bit

As good as Hotman, except for the novelty, of course. Managed to do a sequel that is as entertaining and does not repeat anything from the first series.

It's nice to see the family Furiya again. But there is a lack of history for this continuation and also a very boring and disapointing ending.

Good family jdrama.
Good points: good acting, funny
Bad points: some story points are stretched, weird ending between Enzo and Ayame (Shiraishi Miho played beautifully as Ootsuki Ayame - seminded me of "Iron Faced Woman" from My Boss,My Hero) > they should have been a little bit realistic, not having Enzo "aahh, you're kidding..." - if that would have happened, I guess the whole thing of Enzo and Nanami leaving would have turned as good ending

Yay for season 2 of Hotman!! Heh. They changed the elder sister though. Dunno which one's better. They both did a good job, I think. And Nanami also has a best friend. A bit mean at first but still so Kawaii too..
