Ninomiya Kazunari [二宮和也]
Nino is an AMAZING actor; I'm saddened to see that he's not higher on the Top Artistes list! He has proven himself over and over again in all his doramas, but it was his acting in 'Ao no Honnou' that blew me away. He has a way of getting to BE the character and it is obvious that he is serious about acting. If Nino is not a promising young actor, I really don't know who IS.

2001 no otoko un [2001年のおとこ運]
Rating: 3/10 (Watched)
I will say that I was unable to get into this dorama at all. I was unable to really sympathize with any of its major characters and saw this dorama as pointless.
Ai no Uta [あいのうた]
Rating: 7/10 (Bought & Watched)
I've read a bunch of mixed reviews, but for me personally, I thought it was not a bad story! The pairing is definitely not from your average teen dorama, but I feel that they made it work. And this is the first time I found Miho Kanno to be actually quite pretty. The storyline is interesting and there are moments that tug at your heartstrings; the children are adorable~! The downside was the the story did drag.
Aikurushii [あいくるしい]
Rating: 9/10 (Bought & Watched)
It's been awhile since I came across such a clean, heart-warming dorama! This series is absolutely amazing; the children are so talented and the whole thing is extremely well done. Recommended!
Anego [アネゴ]
Rating: 9/10 (Bought & Watched)
LOVED this dorama! Shinohara Ryoko plays a wonderful anego~ There's plenty of drama, suspense, love, awkwardness, etc. The casting was brilliant, and you get so into it that the ending proves frustrating.
Antique [アンティーク〜西洋骨董洋菓子店]
Rating: 9/10 (Watched)
This dorama is seriously DELICIOUS. Not only do the cakes make you drool, the guys casted are just perfect for their roles. The story is simple, it doesn't require too much thought, but I just loved the way that they filmed everything.
Attention Please [アテンションン プリース]
Rating: 6/10 (Bought & Watched)
What can I say? It was enjoyable, but nothing I would go back and watch again. Does anyone draw parallels to "Ganbatte Ikkimasshoi" to this besides me? Anyways, Aya Ueto is extremely cute, but her performance as a "punk rocker" was almost a joke. Too wannabe NANA and not believable at all. The story has been way overdone. However, it had several endearing spots and cute moments as well.
Beach boys [ビーチボーイズ]
Rating: 7/10 (Watched)
The lack of plot bothered me a bit, but I still found this dorama to be quite enjoyable. In fact, my favorite thing about it was the way it taught lessons without preaching. Also, there was great chemistry between the cast members and they all gave memorable performances.
Beautiful life [ビューティフルライフ]
Rating: 9/10 (Bought & Watched)
This has got to be one of the most well-known love stories of jdorama: Kyoko + Shuji = <3! And I loved every minute of it. Then again, I'm a sucker for tragic love stories. It made me laugh, cringe, worry, smile, and cry- it was absolutely wonderful and beautiful!
Big wing [ビッグウイング]
Rating: 8/10 (Watched)
And this is your basic recipie for a love story: cute girl, cold guy, and the cute girl somehow warming the guy's heart. And it really worked well in the series: I found this dorama to be really adorable. Original? No one's calling it that. Cute? Most definitely!
Boku dake no Madonna [僕だけのマドンナ]
Rating: 8/10 (Bought & Watched)
This is such a cute dorama! I admit that it is a bit difficult to get into in the beginning. However, the series grew on me over the course of each episode and I found the touch of innocence to the storyline to be adorable. I also love the chemistry between our two main characters.
Brother Beat [ブラザー☆ビート]
Rating: 8/10 (Bought & Watched)
This is a really great family dorama! It was funny, serious, sweet, and taught morals without sounding pretentious. I thought it was wonderful the way they dealt with everything; it all seemed pretty realistic and you could really relate to it. And that is one darn good looking family they got there~! ;]
Densha Otoko [電車男]
Rating: 9/10 (Bought & Watched)
A modern day fairytale. This dorama was one of the most innovative of the year and leaves a deep impression on its viewers!
Double score [ダブル スコア]
Rating: 6/10 (Watched)
To tell the truth, I didn't fall in love with this drama instantly, but rather, it [very slowly] grew on me. It can get pretty funny at times, which is surprising for such a serious subject. Overall, I felt the series to be interesting, but is more of a guy's series than one for female viewers. I think my father enjoyed it far more than I did!
Dragon Zakura [ドラゴン桜]
Rating: 9/10 (Bought & Watched)
To tell the truth, I was a bit skeptical when I first started watching this series since it seemed to be following the ever-popular 'high school drama' recipie. However, after watching this, I found this dorama was absolutely wonderful! It managed to steer clear of most of the high school cliches and instead provided a new, interesting, and raw perspectice on getting into college.
Engine [エンジン]
Rating: 9/10 (Bought & Watched)
YAY! Honestly, when I began watching this dorama, my expectations weren't too high. I thought it was going to be your typical Takuya Kimura drama, and I was only watching it for his sake. However, this story is amazing! Great performances by the children and I love how the children and Jiro influence and change each other. The only thing I dislike is the ending...
Ganbatte Ikimasshoi [がんばっていきまっしょい]
Rating: 5/10 (Bought & Watched)
I was not terribly impressed with this dorama. It was one of those overly-hyped series that just did not live up to its reputation. The story is boring, the plot cliche, and the acting was dry. I can say that it is watch-able, however, if you can get past Anne Suzuki...
Gokusen [ごくせん]
Rating: 9/10 (Watched)
In the beginning, I thought it would just be a female version of GTO. I thought wrong. It seems to be set on a higher level. And I LOVE it. I loved how I was able to remember distinctly each student because they were all so 3-dimensional. MatsuJun was all but too perfect! I totally wanted a love story between Yankumi and Shin, but then it really wouldn't be the same light-hearted yet serious story that it is. A lesson was taught in each episode, and the whole cast was PERFECT. They have awesome chemistry together.
Gokusen Season 2 [ごくせん2]
Rating: 6/10 (Bought & Watched)
I loved this dorama for all the gorgeous boys that made up the class of 3D. However, there is not too much to the series besides that. The storyline is repetitive and nothing that original Gokusen fans have not seen before.
Good Luck !! [グッドラック!!]
Rating: 8/10 (Watched)
Loved it! It was totally addictive, my whole family loved it. Admittedly, this type of role does not seem to challenge Takuya Kimura as an actor since it is nothing new to characters he has played in the past, but for him, it just really works. In the end, you have a cute, romantic dorama!
GTO [麻辣教師]
Rating: 9/10
This one was HILARIOUS! Even my uptight father was able to enjoy it. That says a lot, really. I'm no expert on the GTO manga, but the storyline here seems to be pretty true to the original. I also adored Sorimachi Takeshi's acting here.
Hana Yori Dango [花より男子]
Rating: 8/10 (Bought & Watched)
I've read a bit of the manga, and I sat through the entire Chinese adaptation of it, but I must say that this version is the best. This time around, F4 is very believable, and the acting matches the manga perfectly, I was very impressed with these big stars! The ending did leave me wanting more, more, more!
Hanayome wa Yakudoshi! [花嫁は厄年ッ!]
Rating: 6/10 (Watched)
The premise of this whole story almost made me want to stop watching right off the bat. It was just so... dumb. Yet I stuck with it and, well, it didn't get much better. It's somewhat interesting to see how a peach farm operates, but besides that, I definitely don't recommend this series.
Haru Ranman [春ランマン]
Rating: 9/10 (Watched)
I definitely definitely enjoyed this one. It was VERY funny and I loved the dialogue, but it also teaches you a lesson about life. The whole cast gave brilliant performances and the whole feel of it is reminscent of the American TV show, "Friends".
Hero
Rating: 7/10 (Watched)
I love Takuya Kimura, and this dorama's really interesting. Some say that there's just that right amount of romance, but I disagree! There needs to be more! Especially when the topic's kinda serious and there's such a hot male lead...
Ichi Ritoru no Namida [1リットルの涙]
Rating: 10/10 (Bought & Watched)
I definitely cried way more than one liter of tears watching this dorama. Aya's fight to live her life despite her illness was such a powerful story and has left such a strong and lasting impression on me. Absolutely one of the best doramas of the year.
Ikebukuro West Gate Park [池袋ウエストゲートパーク]
Rating: 9/10 (Watched)
This is not your average teen dorama. Nothing is predictable. This entire dorama, from theme song choice (SADS) to its style of film to the plot is really nothing that I've seen in a dorama before. It brings up so many questions and shows the shady side of Japan and teenage society in Ikebukuro.
Ima Ai ni Yukimasu [いま会いにゆきます]
Rating: 6/10 (Bought & Watched)
There are parts that are so heart-wrenching! ;o; I actually read the book that this drama is based of, and I feel that this drama isn't completely true to it. However, this IS a dorama with 10 episodes, so adding to the story was inevitable. It did lag quite a bit too much though. The boy who played Yuji was RIGHT ON; he was amazing.
Iryu [医龍 Team Medical Dragon]
Rating: 9/10 (Bought & Watched)
This was such an amazing dorama! It made surgeons look so damn kakkoi. The story was well-written and its themes are easily understood. It also makes you feel like your IQ has gone up a couple of points by listening to all that medical lingo... It sucks you in and never lets you go.
Itazura na Kiss [イタズラなKiss]
Rating: 6/10 (Watched)
HILARIOUS! This is one of the funniest series I've seen. I found the actor's over-acting to be extremely interesting, and it makes it seem like one is really just watching a live version of a manga series, which it is. On the same note, the overly exaggerated way of talking and moving can be somewhat hard to swallow at times as well.
Jikou Keisatsu [時効警察]
Rating: 7/10 (Bought & Watched)
The story was definitely really interesting, especially since I'm real big on mystery doramas. I love the way the stories were set up and there was a cute subtle humor in each episode, but in a way, it was a bit too *out there* so some of that humor may have been lost...
Kimi wa Petto [きみはペット]
Rating: 9/10 (Bought & Watched)
This dorama was absolutey positively adorable~ Koyuki gave a wonderful performance, but it was Jun that stole the show- he was just amazing playing Momo! It's a cute story that is most definitely different from the norm and is definitely an enjoyable watch.
Koishite Shinitai [恋して死にたい]
Rating: 8/10 (Watched)
ADORABLE. This is the perfect dorama when you're in the mood for something cute and romantic- it's so sweet it could make your tooth ache.
Kou Kou Kyoushi 2003 [高校教師 2003]
Rating: 7/10 (Bought & Watched)
This is one twisted story, no doubt. And it's quite interesting: a lot of twist and turns and a lot of perverseness. However, the acting in this one is absolutely S-U-P-E-R-B.
Long Love Letter [ロング・ラブレター〜漂流教室]
Rating: 7/10 (Watched)
First of all, I know this isn't a drama that everyone will love. As for me, I definitely appreciated its message about our world and our environment. Also, I think this is the only drama I've ever seen that had sci-fi elements in it, but it was done wonderfully. I love the lesson that was taught at the end, especially since it's so true.
Love Revolution [ラブレボリューション]
Rating: 8/10 (Bought & Watched)
This series has a very distinct 'soap opera' feel to it. So much drama, so many coincidences, so many happy endings. And that is the dorama's main selling point (or flaw, however you look at it).
Lunch no Joou [ランチの女王]
Rating: 8/10 (Watched)
A very nice, fluffy dorama that was a lot of fun to watch. The guys are all extremely cute and the food looked absolutely delicious~ A very light-hearted, cute dorama.
Majo no jouken [魔女の条件]
Rating: 9/10 (Watched)
I fell head over heels for this dorama. Hook, line, sunk. I was so absorbed with this dorama that I just HAD to finish it in one day. It's sad, happy, and sensitive all mixed into one while showing the prejudices of the taboo teacher-student relationship. Beautiful.
Moto Kare [元カレ]
Rating: 4/10 (Watched)
I really, really didn't enjoy this. It felt like a total waste of time, as well as a waste of talent by such talented stars! The plot was cliche, the acting somewhat dry, and the ending was TERRIBLE.
My Boss, My Hero [マイボスマイヒロ]
Rating: 7/10 (Bought & Watched)
One of the most entertaining doramas of the year, definitely. It never lacked in humor and Nagase's overexaggerated facial expressions and way of talking was AWESOME. However, after episodes and episodes of nothing important, I found that its oversimplicity got old fast.
Nemureru mori [眠れる森]
Rating: 6/10 (Watched)
I'm not particularly impressed with the drama. I will say that the plot is pretty interesting, though sometimes I feel that the twists and turns are just TOO MUCH. It was a cast of renowned actors, yet no one's acting really stood out or really impressed me... It was at best mediocre.
Never Land
Rating: 3/10 (Watched)
This was one of the most disappointing doramas that I have ever seen. Although the actors are usually quite talented, they don't seem to *shine* in this dorama. The plot was uninteresting, the acting dry, and I felt it to be a total waste of time.
News no onna [ニュースの女]
Rating: 8/10 (Bought & Watched)
Surprisingly, I enjoyed this dorama. It took a few episodes to draw me in, but then I found the sneak peeks into the telecaster world to be incredibly eye-opening. The actors all gave impressive performances as well.
Nobuta wo Produce [野ブタ。をプロデュース]
Rating: 7/10 (Bought & Watched)
Like many doramas, this series started out very promising. However, halfway through it, I couldn't stand it any longer. The story quickly went downhill and the ending was horrible. Yet, I was quite impressed with Kame's acting and YamaP gave a very memorable performance as Akira!
Oniyome Nikki [鬼嫁日記]
Rating: 6/10 (Bought & Watched)
It began hilarious. The situations were so exaggerated that you couldn't help but laugh. But it also got old FAST. Then began a period when there was nothing keeping me from hating on Sanae and the way she treated Kazuma. However, if you're able to make it past to the last episode, you'll learn that this dorama has some point to it besides watching Kazuma act like a wuss all the time- it was almost cute! xD I also enjoyed the side stories of the other two families and how each of the three families represented different lifestyles.
Orange Days [オレンジデイズ]
Rating: 10/10 (Bought & Watched)
This dorama is absolutely BRILLIANT. I loved it from the moment it started to the very end. There's so much you can get out of watching this, I swear. A story of hardship, of friendships, of love... It's absolutely wonderful.
Pride [プライド]
Rating: 10/10 (Bought & Watched)
I absolutely fell in LOVE with this drama after the first episode, and it held me to the very end. I was literally at the edge of my chair waiting for the next episode. It's beautiful and romantic without going overboard.
Regatta [レガッタ]
Rating: 7/10 (Bought & Watched)
Though nothing exceptional, it was rather enjoyable! Some have likened it to 'Ganbatte Ikkimashoi' but save for rowing and Aibu Saki, the similarities are slim to none. The story moved quickly and the acting pretty good. It definitely didn't leave me bored too much as I finished it in two days. And besides, Mocomichi looks pretty DAMN HOT all tan and muscular. ;]
Sapuri [サプリ]
Rating: 6/10 (Bought & Watched)
To be honest, I'm surprised I lasted all the way through this. The storyline was nothing spectacular and Ito Misaki is a rather terrible actress. However, there were a few times where I actually LOL'ed and I found the role of the little girl rather adorable. Other than that, it was not particularly enjoyable...
Sore wa, Totsuzen, Arashi no you ni... [それは、突然、嵐のように…]
Rating: 4/10 (Bought & Watched)
This series started out really promising. It seemed like a non-traditional love story that could have been well done. Yet, the storyline fell completely flat. To make matters worse, the acting was only mediocre and the ending terrible.
Stand UP!!
Rating: 7/10 (Bought & Watched)
This series really gave me some good laughs! It's the type of dorama that makes your mother uncomfortable, but would be totally fun with friends. It's exaggerated, but some of the topics that they touch on do prove true of teenagers in today's world.
Strawberry on the shortcake [ストロベリー・オンザ・ショートケーキ]
Rating: 3/10 (Watched)
What's the point of this dorama? I'm really not fond of this series at all; these actors could be doing much bigger and better things with their lives than this. Really.
Summer snow
Rating: 8/10 (Watched)
DOMOTO TSUYOSHI is a brilliant actor! I really mean that, and I think this dorama proves it. It's a very touching story that was also very sweet and pretty.
Taiyo no Kisetsu [太陽の季節]
Rating: 8/10 (Watched)
Tackey is really growing into this wonderful actor and this role is quite different than the ones he has taken in the past. I thought it was really pretty the way this story played out. It was a bit dark and bitter in the beginning, but it ended up really beautifully.
Taiyou wa shizumanai
Rating: 9/10 (Watched)
This story was so GOOD. There's not much romance or anything, but the fight for justice and the pain and happiness that comes along with that is so clearly portrayed in the dorama. It really made you think and was very serious. Tackey was brilliant and the overall story is very touching and dramatic.
Tenshi ga kieta machi [天使が消えた街]
Rating: 6/10 (Watched)
It was a very touching dorama! At times, I was somewhat confused about what was going on though. Fujii Fumiya gave a wonderful and very believable performance. It was able to get me teary-eyed at certain points... However, it wasn't able to completely draw me in.
Unfair [アンフェア]
Rating: 9/10 (Bought & Watched)
This is one of my absolute favorite doramas of 2006. But then again, I am a sucker for mysteries, especially murder mysteries, no matter how much they scare me. And I love that it's only ONE case they are solving all the way through, and they pulled it off extremely well. This was amazing. It kept me on the edge of my seat, had me screaming in anger, hiding in fear, and then making me want to cry. AND THE TWIST! AH STOP TOYING WITH ME EMOTIONS! Like an exceptional mystery dorama, I was shocked to see how things unfolded- I hardly suspected a thing. Unfair na no wa dare ka?
Water Boys Season 2 [ウォーターボーイズ2]
Rating: 8/10 (Bought & Watched)
This is the absolute perfect dorama for the summer season! It's a light, happy-go-lucky series with tons of cute boys and a very inspirational storyline.
Yasashii Jikan [優しい時間]
Rating: 5/10 (Bought & Watched)
What can I say? Ninomiya is a brilliant actor; everytime I watch his doramas, I feel that he is PERFECT for that role! I have yet to find a dorama that proves this wrong. However, as for this series itself, I felt it moved at too slow of a pace to truly enjoy. It was not just the storyline that moved slowly, but every person seemed to be moving in slow motion, and that proved to be incredibly frustrating.
