The problem is that, for the most part, servers respond to requests. Send it lots of requests, and the server will get bogged down trying to process all of them.

They must have been on a weak connection if pings took them down or made them slow.

yeah.... remnants of a previous crash while the server was hacked every hour or so.
When did all that happen? I don't remember seeing it.

I know on ipb and vb they have options to disable avatars and signature areas, each user can specify if they want to see that stuff or not.

Anyone know if phpbb can do that?
