She was pretty much the mother of cooking shows, if I recall correctly. Was also in the OSS(the pre-CIA) during World War 2. She will be missed.

I'm not sure, but I think she was working with the French Resistance as a spy at the time of German occupation.

Unbeknownst to many, she did lead quite an adventurous life. And she managed to leak some of that adventurous feeling out in her shows through that clever glint in the eye or the way she smiled and spoke. I think that is one thing that made her shows really special, even as she grew older and started competing with the younger, more nimble celebrity chefs.

Plus she was the first person who would be constantly burning or screwing things up horribly on television, but it was ok!!! Smile

Ahh~ all good things must come to an end...

Wow that is amazing that she lived so long. With all the fat laden cholesterol filled belt busting dishes she prepared and ate, I would never have thought she would live to be 90. She has to have super longevity genes running in her family. The even did a spoof of her on some of the early Saturday Night live shows. R.I.P.

The cholesterol was probably neutralized by the all the red wine she drank in unison with her meals...

It was reported a ways back that the French, despite their high consumption of red meat, had a lower incidence of heart disease than the U.S., thanks in part to the large amount of red wine (lotsa antioxidants) that they drank... Smile

Yeah. I mentioned a few days ago that pre-Late Show Leno made me laugh so much, I don't think I was breathing at the time. For Dangerfield, even more so. He was great especially when he ad-libbed, or when he did his stand-up.

As I understand it, he was able to wake up from that coma he went into a week or a few weeks back, and kissed his wife.

One of the better comedians from the U.S. He always had MY respect.

Man. Rodney was the Dutch Uncle for so many comics.

He didn't hit it big until later in life... but off stage, off screen, in real life, he meant more to a whole generation of comics than anyone else.

Money, advise, a place to work...

Terrific comic. Hell of a good man.

I was shocked to hear this on the news this morning.
Very unfortunate. A great loss.

btw, I had no idea he was 82. I always thought him to be a bit younger than that.

I fell out of my chair laughing at his film Back to School.

He stole the show in Caddyshack.

Here's his profile:

Rest in peace, Rodney, you made me laugh. Applaud

That's a pity he was hilarious. I remember he played Mr. Burn's son on the Simpson too . Classic. R.I.P. Rodney.

Oh man, this is a shame. Shake Head I hadn't even heard. He cracked me up...

I especially liked "Easy Money", and his small random role on "Moving" w/ Richard Pryor (which is one of my fave 80's movies EVER).

R.I.P. Rodney Dangerfield.
But wasn't he planning on cloning himself? I could've sworn I saw an interview just a few months ago on one of those entertainment shows where he was with his wife and talked about how he's in this weird religious cult or something and they believe in cloning themselves. In fact, he had signed up for it already and was just waiting for them to take the samples and clone him. Now that was strange, but maybe Rodney Dangerfield the clone will come to life and take his place.

who'd a thunk the top 2 stars of the "classic" movie, Ladybugs, dying in consecutive yrs?
Jonathan Brandis dies of possible suicide
At least I would have thought Rodney would go before Brandis.
R.I.P. Rodney.

Never thought about that until you mentioned it, Niko. Google
Pretty freaky coincidence.

http://drudgereport.com/

"Nikki Finke in Los Angeles is reporting that actor Christopher Reeve is dead, according to sources close to the actor. He died suddenly Sunday. News of his death has not been reported publicly yet. His family will make an announcement Monday at the earliest. Reeve was just mentioned Friday in the second live presidential debate by John Kerry. Noting he was a friend of the paralysed Reeve, Kerry said he was in favor of further stem cell research because Reeve could walk again one day thanks to such science."

RIP Superman.

HOLY CRAP! Google Shocked

Can't believe it. He seemed pretty healthy too. (Aside from his disability)

Shock. Real shock.

RIP.

Wow..... *stumbles backward, stunned*

I just heard that ex-baseball player Ken Caminitti died of a heart attack at age 41... Maybe due to the fact he took steroids during his playing years...
