Never in my whole entire life have I watched so much swimming, gymnastics, and spent a lot of time at home just to watch the olympics. That's not me! What's wrong with me? I like to watch gymnastics and swimming. I don't know why Woohoo! Japan won the men's gymnastics!

Read 'em and weep, the 1992 Dream Team:
Charles Barkley
Larry Bird
Clyde Drexler
Patrick Ewing
Magic Johnson
Michael Jordan
Christian Laettner (required ceremonial college player)
Karl Malone
Chris Mullin
Scottie Pippen
David Robinson
John Stockton
With the exceptions of Tim Duncan and perhapsAlan Iverson I don't think anyone of the 2004 Team could displace anyone in the 1992 Dream Team.

Kitajima can keep laughing if that's what he's doing . . . IOC takes back medals even AFTER the games have ended, if the charge has enough evidence.
More funny stuff at the pool, Kitajima won the 200 men breatstroke as well now that makes it 2 gold for Japan for swimming and with no dolphin kick this time. Jim piper of australia however got DQ for doing one, looks like the officials were out in force for that race. Yet interestingly enough Amanda Beard of USA did a little dolphin kick in the 200 women breatstoke semi-final to qualify first and it wasn't picked up by the officials and Japan came in 2nd. I wonder if the Japanese will now call Amanda a cheat? Looks like the dolphin kicks are hard to pick up on when looking down from above, the underwater camera shows it clearly but officials are not allowed to use it according to FINA rules (they should change that).
Jodie Henry of Australia in a new world record swim in the 100 free, absolutely amazing swim considering the competition and the "slow" pool! USA women though smash the 200m free relay in a new word record, congratulation to them

Hhaha, no, no, no time for sulking! Every DAY's been some kind of surprise with this Olympics this time around (I mean, Paul Hamm's comeback in the men's individual gymnastics . . . that was nothing short of a miracle -- what else would you call capturing the gold when one of your routines involve crashing into the judges' table?).
Lot of countries capturing at least one gold; that's good to see too.
And start rooting your team on for baseball -- Australia beat Japan today. Gonna' be major bragging rights for that gold win.
And, uh, on an unrelated note (seriously ), men's basketball . . . USA vs. Australia in a few hours. I shoulda' took the day off .
Van den Hoogenband won the 100m freestyle and renewed his title of the event but sadly he failed to qualify for the semis of the 50m freestyle today.
Congrats to Yuko Nakanishi for the 3rd spot at 200m butterfly and must not forget Kitajima's 200m breastroke gold! The Hungarian Daniel Gyurta suprised his fellow senior swimmers by takin the 2nd spot and yet he's only 15

Whew. Listening to the news last night on the radio 'fore I went beddy-bye (somehow, I was NOT going to watch the cable TV version of the game no matter HOW late they played), I heard Australia was up by about 10 points. Went to sleep worrying.
Nice to see the U.S. team dodged their own beddy-bye.
As much as I'd like to see a U.S. vs. China game (I know, I know, I'm assuming too much; but, sorry, this American smells gold already for the b-ball men [and women, while I'm at it]) -- complete with a Living in America live performance by the Godfather of Soul -- the Chinese team isn't not doing too well. Might be a U.S. v. Spain matchup.

Aaron Perisal for the US was DQ on his 200m Backstroke for using an illgeall turn but after review of the tape was given back the gold medal. My question is, why is it okay to use the tape in this incident but not in Japan's case. The guy that came in second to Aaron also said he knew Aaron didn't cheat. I wonder since Aaron was such a big voice against Japan's medal that they wanted this to happen to him Here is a quote the second runner said about Aaron. Rogan, who finished 2.40 seconds behind Peirsol, had to agree. "I am happy with my silver medal," he said. "For a moment I thought about gold and the idea was just beautiful, but after all it's fair like this."
"Aaron is a very honest person, I am sure he swam fairly and it is just the way it should be."
Shouldn't the tape be used for both cases. If it wasn't for the underwater tape, Aaron would be deemed a cheater. The only other problem is that now the British are anger because they would have had 3rd place if Aaron didn't get gold but now they are appealing the orginal DQ. They aren't saying Aaron cheated but they believe if your DQ the first time no matter what it is, it should stand. Swimming rules are just weird and need to be modified. :bonk: :nut:

USA's the home of the instant replay. Heck YES "review of the tape" should be used as a factor if there are any controversies involved.
I'm beginning to not like Kitajima's attitude (like I liked it in the first place). Telling the U.S. to be quiet; home of free speech MORE than it is the home of instant replay, buddy.
of course.. they had to use the instant replay to CONVINCE the US shot putter.... after he obviously screamed at the judges' faces, because he couldn't believe that he screwed up himself, it must be the judges that screwed up. those icky old men.. with failing eyesights.....humph.

lame.
Better than just sitting there sulking. 'lympic judges have been known to mess up royally.

For those who are going to watch swimming. You must watch the finals with Aaron in it because when Michael Phelps came out to race his race they annouced at that moment the result of the overturn decision that Aaron had indeed won the gold, the crowd went wild and cheering Aaron on. They gave him a standing ovation at the medal ceremony. I'm glad he was well received because it was a nightmare for him. The up and down emotion he must have felt but the best thing was that he was proven right and a well deserved gold for him. :woot: :applaud: :jumpie:

Wah-hoo . . . so, this begs the question . . . was Phelps inspired by this spillover standing o' and applause enough to win a gold in his heat (I'm at work . . . trying to get results whenever I can online, but, so much work . . . that I deserve a gold medal!!! )?
Sad to hear that those Greek sprinters Kenteris and Thanou excused themselves from the games . . . I heard they were good enough to REALLY tell, through their efforts, the planet that the Olympics started in their homeland. The account's gonna' make SOME TV movie of the week, though.

To answer your question, the American never turned in a protest against Kitajima to the officials while Aaron protested directly.
(or at least I think this is the reason)
