it's an "XviD" codec. Download the latest version on http://www.divx-digest.com/software/xvid.html

there is a program that you can use that will tell you what codecs are needed for the video you are watching. its called g-spot, and can be found at: http://www.moviecodec.com/download/tools.shtml

hope this helps!

Excuse my lack of knowledge, but I am a newbie and want to download some doramas. I've been to the bittorent site, but I don't understand how to download it. Can anybody help me? I hate to sound stupid, but I'm just really confused. Any help would be much appreciated!

well first off download BT program then install the program. here the link http://drama.afraid.org/bt/japan-tv/. After u installed the program go back to this website or any site that contain BT file and click on the file name for example beautiful_life_dvd_ep05_[jtv].avi it and it should automatically dl the file. It very simple, really.

personally, i would recommend you uninstall ALL your different codecs and install ffdshow (do a google search). ffdshow has all the codecs bundled so you don't need to worry about this ever again.

one more thing...
I can finally see a picture but it is SO.SLOW.
like one line comes up and stays up for a minute,
and then when it shows the guy opening a door, it takes him 3 minutes to open the door and everything is in SUPER slow motion...
but not the sound. The audio is perfect but the picture is terrible...

Does anyone know what I can do to fix that???

what are the specs on your computer? it might be because its kinda slow. divx does take up a bit of your resources.

oh i just meant stuff like how fast the processor is and how much ram you have. like is it 700mhz? 300mhz? 1.8gigs? 128 ram? 512 ram? ya know stuff like that. and if you do happen to have a slow computer you might wanna try downloading an older version of divx player or just try playing it with windows media. if you dont know what im talking about i dont really know either. im saying this with about 40% of assuming. Sweat

WMP is quite heavy media player if you have less than a 600MHz comp. Try to switch to BSPlayer
http://www.bsplayer.org/. See if it helps.
BSPlayer is the best media player around! Eats less process than WMP, more stable, an all arounder! *highly recommend*

Unless you have one of those new dvd players that can play divx files or a modded ps2 or xbox that can play divx, you'll not be able to play them on regular dvd players.

The files can certainly be converted to vcd compliant (mpeg) files then burnt as a vcd. However it'll take a *very* long time to convert on your computer. Maybe you could get a friend with a faster comp to do this for you.

Or the easiest solution would be to upgrade your comp or buy a new one depending on what you have right now. Even the 'slowest' comp that you can buy out there should be fast enough to play any divx file out there.
