Hate the drama, Love the anime. The reason I hate the drama is because I really loved the anime and the drama was nothing like the anime. wakata? hmm ... Beaten

Nope. I assume you watched anime first, then drama second.

How different are the are the anime, drama, and manga from each other. I like the drama, and I plan on getting the first boxset when it's released in the US, and hopefully a manga boxset will follow, and then the drama release which was hinted at. I love the drama, anyone think I'd like the manga and anime?

Coincidentally, I was listening to poison when I saw this thread.

I love GTO drama, manga, anime... but i would say the manga is the best one of the 3. The drama is the shortest, the anime ends halfway. I'm only halfway thru the manga now but it beats the other 2 in every aspect so far.

Ahhh... GTO...

let me count the ways...

I started off on the Manga of GTO. I've read all 25books and I must say "its the best!" The manga just has so much more story and background and characters and plot developments that never made it into the anime series or the drama.
The anime ends only after the first couple books of the manga series. The drama ends even earlier than the anime. So if you really like GTO definetly read the manga. I don't think they have released past issue 12 or so in English, so if you can't read Japanese your a lil out of luck there till they get to issue 25!
There also were two other series of manga about Onizuka before he became a teacher. "Shonan Junai Gumi" which is the story of him and Ryuji during their highschool years which has about 25 issues as well. And before that there is another one called "Bad Company" only like 4 issues of that though! If you really like the story then i recommend checking those manga out as well!

On my opinion, the manga is the best of all three.Maybe some of you wouldn't agree with i'm just saying. That's because in the manga, there's lot of conflict between the students and teachers. Not to mention between teachers and students themselves. One thing which i think interesting, everytime Onizuka find himself in such a bad situation, he will use his extraordinary methods to solve the problem...and that's why you'll never know what will happened in the end of the story..... Chatter
About the anime,actually i haven't seen yet.....sorry.... Sweat

However, i agree with what malurom'd just said.....the drama is the shortest of all but still, we can find that the drama plays a lot of emotions....just refer when Onizuka deal with Kikuchi...... Big Grin opss, not to mention what happens next. Sweat

Well, everyone has their opinions.....,right. Wink can't blame 'em.....

I saw the GTO anime first and it was so funny then i heard there was a live action drama so i gave that a try. Both are great but if i have to choose which is better i would say the anime version is a little bit better.

GTO...GOD..its one of the best jdrama around...really really funny..and sorimashi fits the role extremely well...he did a really good mimick of the anime GTO... i think both of em are good..the anime and drama..but theres obviously more eps in animes, so if u wanna see more of what happened as in the manga, then anime would be the right one...as for me...i always prefer drama, though i still watch animes...
Thumbs up for this old jdrama here... Applaud

I downloaded a few dvd rips of the anime about 6 weeks after i got broadband - ordered the first 6 dvds on my next payday Smile (imported very cheaply from the US into the uk )

a week after i got the dvds i bought the first few volumes of the manga ( i have the first 7 now) - and will order volume 8-12 soon.

about a week after i started using Bit torrent - #JTV released the first dvd ripped drama ep and i was hooked on that from the first 10mins Big Grin

The drama is easily my favourite - the cast is great and is well adapted from the manga (the drama came before the anime for those who dont know)
