Because Anita Mui is dead, Geez'.
While I was never into her music, I thought she was a good actress.

Go to YesAsia.com and look up Anita Mui. She was one of the great HK entertainers of the last 20 years. She is often referred to as the Madonna of HK, but she's a better actress than Madonna.

I know Geez', don't shoot the messenger. It's the Asian press that made those comparisons... and really, with the crotch-grabbing antics that Anita pulled on stage during her concerts, the comparison was valid back in the day -- musically.

It's funny... here at Jdorama.com, 99% of the men are going crazy for Japanese actresses and singers.
Here I am, extolling the virtues of Chinese actresses and singers...
Kelly Chen
Sammi Cheng
Faye Wong
Miriam Yeung
Joey Yung
I've been told that Miriam, though from Asia, used to live in the SF Bay Area and was a nurse before returning to Asia.
Go ahead and shoot me for preferring Chinese femmes.

Nah.. I think everyone has preferrence. I too drool over some Chinese actors..*cough* i.e Daniel Wu, Aaron Kwok, Nicolas Tse, Jay Chou, Andy Lau, Tony Leung, Edison Chen, Daniel Chan (well mostly from Hong Kong...oh well they have plenty of hot guys over there..lol.. )
What? Miriam used to be a nurse in SF?
Btw, I like Faye Wong and Tony Leung's movie..damn I forgot the title anyhow Faye played this princess who fell in love for a commoner played by Tony Leung, it was a hilarious movie too. They really have a great chemistry as always. The first time I saw this combo was in Chungking Express...I love that movie too btw.

Aka-chan, did you know Daniel Wu's from San Francisco? Aaron Kwok's a good actor and singer, I even have one of his CD's, but for the ladies, he's on the short side (5'6" I hear). Have always liked Tony Leung, he's done so many good movies, he and Andy Lau were so terrific in Infernal Affairs. Love the trilogy Andy did with Sammi: Love On A Diet, Needing You, Yesterday Once More. The first two of those three were great.
A few people I know told me that Miriam went to college here and was training to be a nurse, don't know if she actually took the R.N. (Registered Nurse) exam.

Watched the 1st episode of Usukoi the other night...
Despite the presence of the gorgeous Faye, I couldn't enjoy the story.
The background music was lacking...
The sound quality of the dialogue was lacking...
The dialogue itself wasn't very interesting...
The story concept I liked, but the execution was lacking...
The male lead wasn't funny and didn't have any real magnetism...
The opening credits titles I thought were rather shoddy as well...
Hope it gets better for episode 2.

I like the male lead. Im biased since I loved him in Semi-Double.
I made it to ep 4 and then just sort of petered out. Im thinking a slow story line is at fault! _________________

Well, it's not really the male lead's fault... if he's not given very interesting lines or good direction, not much you can do.
I like the story concept, however. I'll try watching Episode 2 after a late dinner.

wow! a faye thread in jdorama!
i've always been a faye fan for about 10 years now!
I have nearly all her albums and i watched her a few times in concert too!
Other than Chungking Express, which i think is the best of Wong Ka Wai's movies, I've not seen her in many others (the others are pretty forgetable unfortunately).
I love her for her songs. It started off because I love Cocteau Twins and she sang one song with them. So I got to know her. Then I became addicted!!!
And she's got one of the best voices ever in live concerts! It never broke once and she keeps her stamina throughout. Maybe because she doesn't really dance or moves alot when she's performing.
She's truely one of my favourite female singers in the world other than Bjork.

Miriam? trained as a nurse? woah..I've never thought of that.

Yup, I've noticed. But at least you don't have to remind her to use the search engine. She is the search engine.
