I hope everyone here realizes that in the manga there was an amnesia plot as well and stuff similar to the tiwanese drama. Also when i stooped reading this manga around 2 years ago it was still going at 32 or 34 books ro something. I wonder if it actually finished. Hopefully in this drama they try and end it early and not try and fir that massive ammount of Manga plot into 11, 45 min episiodes. If they do its just gunna suck and make no sense at all. :/

Amnesia? o_O Crazy. I'm only on the US Book 6 of the manga (which is basically the anime XD)
I think (more like, "I hope" ) that they won't completely try to stuff the entire manga into such a limiting space. I get the feeling (from the way JDoramas handle other anime and manga) that they'll stick more closely to what the anime did and pick a few select scenarios and tag a sweet but open ending. ^^
And here's some info (what I already posted in the ARASHI thread):
My older sister influenced me to read this thing, and i thought "this is cool, huh". I really liked the original work. I think that this dorama will be a change in popularity from the Taiwanese version. In this production my staff and costars will make Hana Yori Dango different. This will mean we're together as a group for a long time. Right now doing the scenes isn't easy. This is going to be a new school drama for me I think.

on the official Hana Yori Dango site, there's a board where you can submit messages for the actors. If you write one and it gets accepted, they might read it Mine got accepted, it's second from the top on page 7. The one above me is my friend Melissa who I helped write hers. Oh and you have to write in Japanese if you want to be understood.

ehh...there are people who hasnt read Hana Yori Dango? was Meteor Garden only booming in my country few years back? haha...i guess so...
anyway...I'm very sorry to be frank. But Taiwanese F4 actors suck! The story of MG1 is good, coz it stick faithfully to the manga. But, MG2 totally suck.
Not very good comments on this Japanese HYD, because there's already the taiwanese drama...my friend said, "ehh...Japan follow Taiwanese trend?" ....feel like crying T_T
I try to defend Japan by saying, "No! Its logical that Japan ONLY start filming the dorama now, coz the manga was just finished a year ago. While when Meteor Garden was filmed, the manga is still going...thus MG's ending is not really clear," ...hehe...it could be true desho?
yes, the amnesia thingy happened in the manga, but it was applied comically and very funny! unlike MG, which became all dramatic and tear-jerker. The funny part of the amnesia in the manga, is that Doumyouji remember ALL people, EXCEPT Tsukushi...heheh....
Just a brief intro of HYD characters:
Makino Tsukushi -> the only girl in the school who's bold enough to fight F4 back, stubborn, her parents are poor
Doumyouji Tsukasa -> leader of the gank, very rich parent(actually ALL F4 members have rich parents), on the outside look very fierce and bad-tempered....but later on, we can see his comical, stupid and silly side...thus, he's my favorite character^^ So funny! Hates Makino Tsukushi....however...gradually.....
Hanazawa Rui -> cool, calm person, dont talk much....one scene I remember, Doumyouji once kick a garbage can coz anger. Rui lift up the fallen can and put back inside the trashes...this what has made Makino thinks, "he's different than the other F4 members"...thus had a crush on him. But, Rui have someone in his mind that he can never forget....her name is Shizuka...2 yrs older than him.
Nishikado Soujiro -> carefree and fun-loving person...he had a bad past love story....later, romantically linked with Makino's cute bestfriend, Yuki. I like their love story^^
Mimasaka Akira -> playboy....shld I say more?^^ _________________

I realised that Matsuda Shota doesnt have a thread of his own...so i think this is the only place that is closest to Matsuda Shota... OMEDETTO TANJOUBI~!!
Man, I'm really excited to see this drama. Hana Yori Dango is one of my favorite stories ever! I'm sure they're gonna pull it off very well. At least we already know for sure that the acting's gonna be so much better than Meteor Garden.

I just finished readiong the first volume and saw the first anime ep and have to say...i can't wait for the dorama to come ou!! I know Doumyouji Tsukasa is really an idiot, who uses incorrect words and doesn't understand jokes. As far as I've read he is a pretty nasty guy, can#t easily forgive....fy-chan you wanted Jun to play a challenging role..let's see how he will manage to interpret the manga! I'm so excited, have to read on....^^
and if you go to the arashi thread and look at the mag scans that were posted you'll see that he still has his 'normal' hair..*g* sorry girls, I know this should belong in the jun-thread, but I can't miss a chance to convince fy-chan since she is soooo worried

LoL, ainangst! When I found that first pic of Doumyouji, I knew right away which pic I wanted to use for Sho-kun.
And a big 20th O-Tanjoubi to our future Mr. Playboy - Matsuda Shota, Omedetou!
And another sidenote: www.animenewsnetwork.com and www.manganews.net just posted about the HYD dorama, so that must mean that most of the anime community is now aware of the new version of HYD as well.
Same as with Sho in Honey and Clover, I think there'll be many more ARASHI fans will be born after this dorama. Considering the popularity of HYD in Japan before and all the fans MatsuJun seems to bag from his previous manga doramas...
And of course, more Matsuda-san, Abe-san, and Oguri-kun fans too.
There still isn't a lot of background info at JDorama for Shota and Tsuyoshi though....

OMG i absolutely canNOT wait for this!!! JUN!!!! and SHUN!!! ahhh, gokusen was SO good b/c of them, i cannot wait for them in hana yori dango... such a beautiful storyline. and although yes, i watched thru the whole taiwanese version, i think jun's will be better. go jun! _________________

OMG!!!! jun matsumoto become tsukasa??? huaaa...*speechless*...
altho i prefer him as rui, but thats okay!! any character that he played can make me melted away...
I like MG1 [taiwan version]...altho i think f4 acting skill was suck..but i realize its their debut, so i acknowledge that 'maybe' they have talent...but in MG2...yup!!! THEY ARE SUCCK!!!! [gomen2 for f4 fans]
i personaly like the character of rui, and vic zhou play the character nicely...but i believe ogari shun will do much..much better than him..and JUN matsumoto will do the same...
all the combination are perfect...the story, the cast, and the timing...i believe it will be an amazing dorama!!

wow, matsujun acting in HYD . can't wait i've already watch him in kimi wa petto, gokusen. hope he can act better than taiwanese actor. i've already watch the HYD anime and taiwan version MG1 & MG2 hope they don't drag it to MG3 . what kind of hairstyle will suit matsujun in this drama ? still can't imagine hope he can act well as doumyouji tsukasa. _________________

Otsuka Ai will be singing the theme song, "Planetarium" of "Hana Yori Dango" which will be released on 21 Sep. This song is the theme of heroine Makino Tsukushi played by Inoue Mao where it will be the BGM of the climax scenes in each episode. Can't wait to see Matsujun as Doumyouji .
