Itfs important to open your ports as well as port forwarding.

By default, your router and firewall blocks all the incoming traffic from the Internet. Unless you request something for example, click on a link to receive data, it will block it. Youfll have connection time out. Basically the router protects your LAN from intruders and bridge the internet to your home network. You shouldnft open unnecessary ports, unless you like virus and hackers. By opening a port, your router will let the data go through.

One of the most important things though, is port forwarding. The other computers send data to you using your IP address; itfs like a phone number. The data will reach your router, but the router needs to know where to send it; to your pc, your game console, your laptop or your mom's quad xeon 64bits server with 512GB of ram and 128 terabytes of storage. (She doesn't like lag when playing freecell and using paint hehe )
For example, your sisterfs boyfriend calls to your home and your Dad picks it up. The boyfriend say: gI love you honey, lets get married.h Flying Kiss (He's a real Romeo this guy to do it over the phone hehe ) Your dad will probably answer: gWho the f**k are you, b*tch?h Smack! and hangs up. The boyfriend will call again, but you pick up the phone. He tries his line again, but you say: gScrew you motherf**ker!h Boot out and hang up. He calls again, but this time your sister picks up the phone. So the connection worked this time.

It this stupid example, the data was sent 3 times to be able to reach its destination. So your download speed was 1/3 of what is should be and the uploader had to send you the same packet 3 times. Smile

To open your ports, you need to find its IP address. It should be in the manual. If you don't have it, there's another method to get it too, but my post is too long. Smile
i've had the same problem with qilver, though i know the basics about internet but not pretty good with technical stuff like tweaking on your connection... i just design graphics hehe i had to wait until my cousin gets here, hes good at this stuff Sweat

yeah, i would prefer having a computer expert/techie handle the port forwarding and configuration, don't wanna jack up the firewall and mess things up.... Beat You Bonk

just got back from Target, got some listerine, throat drops for my sore throat, toothbrush, and some other stuff i needed.

I've read that Listerine isn't good for a sore throat: the alcohol irritates the already inflamed tissues...

You should gargle with warm salt water: it's supposed to reduce the swelling. Big Grin

Works for me. Thumbsup
