Food, hotels and everything else is supposed to be the same prices as here in Sweden. +/-10%. I hope we'll manage. Bleah

new building in GINZA
--------------------------------------------------------------------

The latest addition to Tokyo's recent string of successful partnering of renowned architects and luxury brands arrives in the shape of the Mikimoto Ginza 2 store, designed by Toyo Ito (Tod's Omotesando). The pink building offers up some irregularly shaped (and placed) windows, which certainly stands out (but in a good way). Oh, and you might actually be interested by the jewelry on sale within.

tokyo architecture is truly avant-garde...and not necessarily due to japanese talent...the city itself with it's bleeding edge design aesthetic attracts world renown architects from around the world.

I'm hoping to go back there this year on a student visa or whatever the equivalent is. Want to go to a Japanese language school for a year or so and make a solid effort to learn the lingo. It's just too hard to focus on it when you're not in an environment where you need to use it every day.

Are there any good schools in Tokyo for this that people could recommend from experience? I haven't got stuck into researching schools yet, the only one I've had a look at is WLE.

Originally, I was thinking about going to one somewhere a bit more out of the way like Kobe or Hiroshima, but in the end, if I'm gonna be in Japan I might as well be in the thick of the action, so Tokyo it is.

Been to Tokyo much, since you were from Okinawa area?
