|
|
Well, I stayed up so I could see the beginning of Ouku to see if they were getting closer to the end. And, it looked like they were since the episode number translated out to "Final Episode." So I set the DVR to record it, and I went to bed (I am an old ant, after all).
But when I got up and checked, it seems that for the next 2 weeks (probably), they'll be showing an Ouku special.
Also, the 10-episode Kiken na Aneki played episode 9 last night. And since, judging by the size of my torrents, episode 10 is going to be an extended episode, we probably have only 2 more weeks of that too.
So it looks like it'll be open season on guessing what the Sunday night dorama lineup will look like in the second half of February. (I'm betting on Saiyuuki and Unfair, but I've been wrong before...)

There was a game show I really liked about a year back that had a few English subtitles, just enough to kick-start me, but not so much that I didn't have to work to get the Japanese. It was on for quite some time. |
When was this aired?? In the same time slot on Saturday??

I would like to know too.
I would assume it was shown at some time on Saturday. I don't think any Japanese show shown on Sun. has subs to go with it _________________

Could you be remembering "Nihonjin No Shitsumon" from NHK? It was kind of like a version of "To Tell the Truth." An intriguing question would be posed, which was subtitled in English, the celebrity panelists would each offer their answers (all but one would be BSing), the pairs of celebrity contestants would choose one of the answers and explain why they thought it was correct, and then when the correct answer was announced, it was subtitled in English. As you said, there was just enough subtitling to sort of follow it. It ran on KTSF on Sunday evenings for years and years.
Anyone remember "Naruhodo The World" which also ran on Sundays?

[quote="Waldo T"]Looks like one episode of Wakaba got lost in last week's schedule shuffle. Will we ever know how uncle Seijyun got his money back from his high school friend and avoided to wreck his marriage?]
Yeah, at first I thought it was someone's dream (or nightmare) and at any minute the person was going to wake up and we'd be back to "reality." But then the usual mid-point commercial suddenly popped on and I finally realized they must have goofed. It is the first that I can remember that FujiTV/KTSF has skipped an episode (actually, two of the original 15-minute morning drama episodes).
Or could it be some form of censorship?!!! Maybe in the missing episode, uncle Seijyun beats the **** out of the old high school friend and then smacks the wife around a little more to get her to shut up? Just kidding folks!
I'm going to go down to the videostore in J-town to try to rent a copy of the missing episode(s). They won't be subtitled but I'll be able to see what happened. The problem with the NHK morning dramas, though, is that there are so many tapes (one per week of 6 original episodes, equaling 3 of our weekly episodes, for about 26 weeks) that it is difficult to figure out which one to rent. For Sakura (when I missed an episode due to a power outage), it was easy because the featured word in the very brief English lesson at the end of every show started with a letter from the alphabet in sequence, week by week. The show was originally shown for 26 weeks, 6 episodes with the same letter, so we had 3 weekly shows with the same letter. After viewing the previous episodes and the next, I knew which volume of tape to rent. With Wakaba, however, all I know is that it's been on for about a year now. So I'm going to first try a tape about 2/3rds of the way through the whole collection (series that were originally 6 months-long are shown on KTSF for 3x that period).
PS: There was a commercial about the remaining episodes of "Haru E Natsu" being shown, starting on 3/4 at 8pm.

Ah, thanks for the update. This must mean that Egao no Hosoku will be wrapping things up by the end of the month. I wonder what the next 8pm drama will be (after Haru)??

They aired it on Saturday. And like a fool, I did not record it. It was the last show for 2005 (X-mas special).

If I remember, they should have the X-mas special, and the latest one I saw there was from the end of January.

I haven't been following this drama. Did you notice a definite discontinuity with the missing episode?

Each time, we get an apology. Sometimes, often, they'll show the out-of-sequence episode again in its normal week so that we wind up seeing that episode twice. But they've never rescheduled and aired an episode they accidentally skipped. _________________
