me, ganito yun...
jap anime craver since 1995 > j fashion (teen era ko) > jrock (college era) > visual kei (college era) > eventually someone introduce me to gore films like ichi the killer and zatoichi > stumbled with j-pop while surfing the net > admired chibi yamapi (ang cute ng bata) then nalaman ko na lang na binata na pala yun. hehhe > then stumbled with nobuta wo produce > then start loving jdoramas...

hello sa lahat ng mga newbies, sa mga old-timer, at sa mga somewhere-in-between tulad ko!
darcke, ayuz ang nobuta wo produce personally, second reason na lang yung fact na crush ko si yamaP i like it primarily because it does not only focus on friendship and various philosophies of life, it also acts as a social commentary on people and commercialism. hindi ko nga masabing teen drama siya kasi very mature and thought provoking ang theme, nagkataon lang na sa isang high school ang setting at mga "teen-agers" ang main characters. gusto ko ito! as in! as in!
nga pala, interested lang ako on how you guys got into jdorama. ako kasi, hindi talaga ako mahilig sa soaps. nagkataon lang na when i studied in japan, i watched all the jdoramas on tv just to help me with my nihongo. i discovered na sobrang iba ang jdoramas kaysa sa pinoy telenovelas in the sense na hindi takot ang jdoramas mag-explore at mag-experiment regarding theme and plot, and even sa production. i just got hooked! when i got back home, i had to resort to "pahirams" from other balikbayan students. i find it weird to have discovered jdorama.com and dvd sources this late.
hehehe... like saito_hajime said, ang mga pinoy, chatterboxes. ako yung epitome
yeah.. definitely i back up your post... jdoramas are not-your-typical-telenovela thing. i love how they dig up the plots and how they deliver the meaning to the viewers.

You gotta blame my prof. I enrolled a course on Japanese Film as my elective. My teacher had a copy of Imouto yo, which was previewed by the class. He also showed Ran, Seven Samurai and Rhapsody in August. I guess he was a fan of Kurosawa. Since then, I have sought updates and news about jdoramas. Which leads me to today. _________________

with me, it started with Meteor Graden (i know it's not JDrama..read on)..because of low EQ my cousins and I couldn't wait for it to finish on ABS so we discovered pirated subbed VCDs...then we started buying Korean dramas...then we found a new friend who went to Japan and introduced us to Takki and Kimutaku...heto na. naglaway na kami sa kanila... even my aunt goes to Divi every week (from Pamapanga) just to buy korean and japanese movies and series. now, we are monsters... the first jdo i watched was SOS.

I started with Virgin Road back in '95 when my brother and I used to watch it on KTSF. We enjoyed it a lot and I started watching dramas since then. Haha yeah, iba talaga ang mga jdrama. Hindi lang puro iyakin like "Maala ala mo kaya?"

hi coven!!! hisashi buri! anyway, i agree! astig talaga ang nobuta wo produce. iba yung depth ng story, and pati na rin nung characters. it was really a social commentary disguised as a highschool drama. i loved how they (particularly shuji) analyzed the society.

well, weird lang talaga family namin. eversince we were small, all the channels we watched were foreign, at most of the time, yung japanese. so basically, i didn't know about abs or gma until theh sixth grade. dumb nga e kasi kahit super exposed kaming magkakapatid, pero walang natuto ng nihongo. span at konting chinese lang. anyway, so when we got a bit older and we already had resources (naipong allowances. hehe.), we used them on buying vcds. anime muna, tapos yung mga live action ng mga anime na yun, until finally, every jdo na available, just to feed this addiction. hehe. _________________

In my case, in summer of 2000, I was supposed to watch a certain anime in Jet TV but I was an hour ahead of the schedule of that anime, and they were showing this jdorama called Beach Boys before that anime. So I just waited for that anime and watched this jdorama and saw this lovely girl named Ryoko Hirosue. Since then I already begun watching jdoramas.......of this actress only . But my perception on jdoramas broaden when my friend introduced me to GTO (saw this guy Takashi Sorimachi, who happens to be in beach boys, on the cover of the vcd) back in 2004, and since RH wasn't doing any jdoramas during that time due to some unwanted incident , I begun watching all kinds of jdoramas (emotional, funny, sports related, etc). But I have already been watching NHK taiga dramas since 2002 when I saw Yutaka Takenouchi (also from beach boys) in Toshiie to Matsu.

its been so long since i last posted something here... haha.. yeah...
wow 2003, ako i joined by 2004, but 2005 lng ako nagpopost kc lagueng topak yung old pc ko na ndi ko namamalayan na me forum pala sa baba... oh yeah one year na akong member dito hindi ako aware na me forum pla kc lagueng drama and actor infos. lng ang pinupuntahan ko dito noon... ndi ko alam na me forum... how baka of me... LOLz... XD but honestly speaking, that what really happened...
me and jdoramas... hmm... the first one i saw was 2001 or 2002 ata un ung "Ms. Hanako's Locker" on NHK... that was the first Jdrama i saw and i really tuned on... but i really never got into it cause im crazy over some other stuffs during those days... then jumping to 2004, what i saw was Kimu Taku's "Beautiful Life" on Indosiar... its a great drama... and i watched it cause i thought KimuTaku was Naohito Fujiki... dang~! yeah.. [>.<] a bit silly to admit but yeah... for 2 days ive been watching it, i thought that he was Naohito Fujiki but thanks to this site I was corrected... hahaha well he does looks like him on that drama during Naohito's concert... he so does... so un... then jumping by January 2005, thanks to my sisters... who saw "Boku Dake no Madonna" while they are channel surfing, we fancy Takki since they released "One Day, One Dream"... so yeah i got so hooked since then... that i tried to find more stuffs from them... but I am already a JMusic fan thanks to Hyde since 2003....
and that's my whole story... with animes, i've been watching it since i was a kid... i think grade one, cause i remember singing the ending theme of "Daimos" on my class... haha... cause that song was love for me way back then, eventhough i can't understand it... hehehe... i dont care if it is called anime basta cartoon is cartoon for me noon... dont care at all what language.. [^^;]
@dochira - prolly we can help you with your tagalog here... just say it, we could help you... right guys!?!?!... cause i am willing to help but im bad at explaining stuffs at times.. hehehe... _________________

hello, evil_zai!
wow, i didn't know that my question would get so many replies! salamat!
i was just really curious because in other asian countries, they actually show japanese dramas on free tv. so understandably, there would really be many people from there who would know about them. here in the philippines, it's a little more difficult to get sources, yet jdoramas have a substantial fan base.
nakakaaliw!
sana may mangahas-loob na magpa-jdorama showing dito. i know people would do that with anime ( i should know....). pero hassle sa legalities if people would have to pay to watch. sabayan pa siguro ng jdorama convention with special guest: kimutaku! tapos may mga jdorama booths na pulos merchandise.
la lang.... haay.... tama, mangarap ako ng gising!

haha those chinese sunday morning specials... i dont even get what they are saying, eventhough i am half-chinese, can't get it but i watch those stuffs... i remember one story was Saiyuki...
ung gumaganap na Annie is actually a porn star since then... so its no biggie if she has those camera shots... [*.*] she was since then.... a friend of mine [whose a guy whatelse [=.=]] was obsessed with her and he even told me she posed for i think its between Penthouse or Playboy Magazine Cover Japan.. so yeah...
i remember the Sunday TV specials on IBC13... Voltes V, Maskman tapos Bioman ung huling huli.. hehehe... i actually met the voice actor ni Commander Sugata ng Maskman then cya din ung narrator ng Bioman.. actually cya pla ung may ari nung distributing company of those sentais and animes... he told us the whole story of it... they buy the right of it, they dub it and show it here in the Phils... but too bad he gave all those things and became a priest... he gave his whole company to his partner... i met him cause he was our recollection master during my HS recollection... so yeah... i forgot his name tho... but can't forget him... hehehe..
anyways, i wish they show those again... i mean the IBC 13 animes... i mean they are the first one who showed "Yu Yu Hakusho" cause i was only grade 3 when i first saw that... then i cant forget "Super Boink" as well on that channel... sa RPN 9 naman ung "Sweet Tales of St. Tail".... i miss those animes... Yup. I just don't know now, since Naomi Matsunaga would be probably old by now.
How I miss those days. I even remember playing with those tex cards with pictures of Mask Rider Black in it when I was in grade 1 . Sana ipalabas din nila yung Kamen Rider dito sa Pinas . _________________

i dont really care if annie's a porn star or not, she was never my favorite, marami namang mga tao jan nagigiging porn star later on and speaking of porn stars, balita daw ng ate ko, she saw Tony Leung Chiu Wai (u guys know him?) doing a porn film, i dunno bout that but i'd like to see it but shes probably mistaken him for someone else
pinapalabas ba jan yung mga j-music videos? curious lang ako _________________
