GTO is one of my favourites and I'd definitely recommend that, i believe its at 12 eps (special and movie too but those you don't really need to watch).

Though actually, most jdoramas are 9-11 episodes long, very few are longer than that. If you need to get dramas, here's a good place to look:

Hi, im looking for a romance/sad dorama (kind of like summer snow/1 liter)

Summer Snow and Sekai no Chuushin....
haven't watched this one yet but its called 1 liter of tears. Heard lots of good comments on it
This one kinda dark....Kou Kou Kyoushi 2003. Some love it and some found it weird.
Just thought i throw it in. I loved it. The acting from the cast was great Applaud

ive looked through this list and
-Sekai no Chuushin doesnt appeal to me
-something about teacher/student relationship really isnt what im looking for

so if anyone has any other sad/emotinal romances to recommend, please do

and btw, please dont mention anything that involves Kimura Takuya as one of the lead roles....dont ask why...but i just have something against him Grumble

anyways, thank you

Watched beautiful Life, it's a sad ending. Shameful Cry

Can anyone recommend romantic series (poss with good ending - happy ending)? hehe

What does anyone think about slow dance, news no rama and pride? Are they any good?

Thank you very much....... w00t!

yup, Beautiful Life has a sad ending. =/

i'm not sure what you've watched so far, but i would recommend Hana Yori Dango, Over Time, Summer Snow, and possibly Dekichatta Kekkon. If you have the patience, then Tokyo Wankei and Motokare. =) Motokare is like rarely recommended, but if you watch into it, it's a pretty good drama after all.

i saw slow dance, but i wouldn't recommend it unless you're a fan of one of the casts, or if you simply enjoy slow dramas. i must admit it's a very refreshing and soothing drama if you have the time to watch it; the romantic parts are cute. you'll fall in love with the music.

i heard Sora Kara Furu Ichioku no Hoshi (One Million Stars Falling from the Sky) is pretty good. it fits your description.
otherwise, i would recommend Summer Snow. you might have seen it already though..
Densha Otoko is a very emotional romance series. it might seem unrealistic..or even made up, but it's actually a true story based on BBS messages.
Ai Nante Irane Yo, Natsu is a possibility. it's a little darker than "sad," less emotional, but it's very deep and meaningful. i wouldn't consider this type of romance "kawaii" or "sweet" though lol.

Take a look at the existing thread for J-Drama Recommendations...

And the correct term is Japanese, not Jap.

You should watch Ichi Ritoru Namida (1 Litre of Tears). This one is the best dorama I ever saw in the world. No other drama can make me cry like this one. I'll give it 11/10 score.

A must have dorama....

I've seen most of the j-dramas on the top 50.

I really like 1 litre of tears. Sekai was good but I thought 1 litre was better.

For sad dramas:
I would recommend Beautiful Life.

Everything else I could recommend in the sad category has comedic and/or light hearted moments.

Good day. I am new, and hope that I will learn much from the posts at this site.

I was born nearly blind. I have a bit of sight, but may lost it within the next few years. Anyway, I stumbled upon a JDrama called "Koinu no Waltz". I saw a clip with the equivelent of American DVS narration, and I couldn't contain myself. It's hard enough finding American DVS stuff!

Are there any other JDrama that have VI / Blind characters? I am also studying Japanese. (demo, ore wa warui desu yo!)

I'd like to pass these onto my other VI friends and discuss them.

Thanks in advance,

-phalos

Welcome to the J-Dorama Message board...! w00t!

Hmm, I can't think of any drama with blind people other than the Zatoichi series starring Katsu Shintaro.

I can't possibly imagine how hard it must be to know that you could possibly lose your sight in a few years time... I guess you must have some sort of degenerative eye disease which currently can't be cured at this time... Sweat

Regardless, good luck and best wishes. I hope you can hang on to your sight for as long as possible... Fingers crossed

Blind, huh?

I can only think of dramas with deaf characters: Say You Love Me and Orange Days. Not exactly what you were asking though.

There was a dorama back in the late 1990's that featured a blind girl and her dog named "Happy".

you forgot the series of Hoshi no kinka 1 [̋] and the sequel. Sorry, phalos. I can't think of a dorama with a blind character off the top of my head...
