I think KTSF/Fuji-TV goofed again!!! Weren't they supposed to show Part 2 of Episode 3 of Haru E Natsu? Instead they showed Part 1 of Episode 4!!

Also, even NHK kinda goofed in the production. Didja notice the pickup truck? I think it was from the 50s or 60s, but the scene was supposed to be taking place between 1942 and 1945.

I was thinking the same thing. The plot looked like it jumped a few decades from last week's episode. Typical KTSF asleep at the wheel again.

And "Wakaba" keeps slogging along. Will she get married? Will she get cold feet? Will she ever get a spine? Will we ever see Yasu and Masaya in a knock-down, drag-out fight to the death? Inquiring minds want to know!! hehe

But I'm really digging "IQ Supli" these days. That cutie (Wentz Eiji) from WaT makes me giggle. And that IQ Rap segment -- it's freakin' hilarious! I wish this one was subbed like the earlier programs. But I'm having trouble placing Imada Koji. Isn't he on one of the morning chat shows back in Japan?

Regarding Wakaba seeming to drag along, just keep in mind that there are about 20 weeks left to go! When I located that missing episode at the video store in SF's J-town, I found out that they were just starting on the original week #19 (of 26), and here on KTSF we see a week's worth (6) of original 15-min episodes over 3 Saturdays. But Masaya would have no chance against Yasu in a fisticuffs; hell, Wakaba could take care of him with one punch! I think she and Masaya will get married very soon, and the real drama will be her Mom meeting the bartender. After having just finished watching Winter Sonata, I think that maybe he is Wakaba's father afterall, with amnesia.... and false memories implanted by some hynotherapist!

Regarding Supli, yeah, Imada Koji also looked familiar to me but I can't place him either. And while I do enjoy that show, I must say I really enjoyed last week's replacement show featuring "Bobby." I first saw him when I was in Japan. One of many gaijin clowns that appear regularly. It was particularly hilarious near the beginning of the show, when it was pointed out to him that the person he was just talking to was an "otoko." "Heeeeeeeeeyyyyy?" And they kept correcting his Nihongo, but I think he makes those mistakes intentionally (he uses a lot of puns).

Oh good. I wasn't the only one puzzled by the fact that KTSF aired episode 4 part 1 of Haru to Natsu last night.

I just sent KTSF an email mentioning the fact that someone on their end seems to have goofed.

Anyone else want to chime in?

I sent the email to:

[email protected]

and CCed it to:

[email protected]

And yeah, I noticed the Japanese soldier from WWII driving a truck from the early '60s.

If you're gonna spend your money on name actors, I guess you don't have much left over for the props department.

I though about the same thing! I thought it would be such a neat twist. It worked so well in Winter Sonata. But in this case, I don't think a hypnotherapist could teach Wakaba's dad how to play the piano and know all the different drinks barmen mix. And by now, at least someone would have been convinced he REALLY is Wakaba's dad.

The main flaw of Wakaba is that the series can't seem to focus on an idea and develop it. For example, in Sakura, we kept wondering "Will he or will he not?" But in Wakaba, they throw in the idea of a resurected father, and then the idea just fades away. Then there is the brother/sister relationship between Hikaru and Wakaba that takes a nice turn when Hikaru runs away to Kobe and big sis helps him. But the relationship doesn't develop further. As soon as he confesses that he wants to be a pastry chef, they throw an apron on the boy and turn him into another piece of furniture. Now there's Wakaba's marriage. She's already getting irritated when he invites a high school friend and tells him his "wife" will cook something. Then, she makes it clear to everyone that WORK will be number one. Are the producers of this series setting up the stage for Wakaba 2: "Will they or will they not (get a divorce)?"

Well, fortunately they did air the skipped Episode 3 Part 2 afterall!

Geezer, I did send an email, as you suggested (thanks for providing the appropriate addresses), but didn't get a reply from either of them. Both entities (KTSF or FujiTV) probably never bother to answer emails, thanking or encouraging the senders, so I wonder if we had any effect. But I kinda doubt they would have been flooded with emails about the goof. Most people would probably not bother, even if they noticed. It would only be us dorama junkies who would really care!

Well, let's hope they canned the person who made the same mistake twice in two months, and it'll never happen again!

Hear hear! Pray that they get their act together SOON, because I'm quite annoyed with that heading crawl KTSF has to post right as the dorama starts telling everyone that they screwed up. Really shows that they're a 'professional media outlet,' ne? Grumble

Only three more months to go. Yay.

Andru

Good job. And I do think our emails worked.

KTSF might not have responded to your email (they get pretty snippy when it comes to the Japanese programming on the weekends) but they did take note.

After I sent my email, this is the response I got from KTSF:

Quote:
KTSF does not purchase or prepare Japanese programming - instead, time
periods are sold to different Japanese program producers. The weekend
entertainment program producers are Fuji TV and Tokyo Television. You
can contact them directly regarding your concern in the future:

* Fuji Television - 650-344-3006, e-mail: [email protected] for
Saturday programs

* Tokyo Television - 650-552-9100, e-mail: [email protected] for
Sunday programs

In the meantime, we have forwarded your email to Fuji TV, who brought
you Haru e Natsu.

Sincerely,
Frances Lee
Programming Department
KTSF 26

FUji TV and Tokyo Television are famous for ignoring emails. But if KTSF forwarded a bunch of them, I expect they took notice.

All hail the greasy wheel!

I could swear the subtitles said "Hosokawa Garcia" a few moments ago during the taiga dorama. I thought that sounded awfully weird--well, I think it's supposed to be Hosokawa Gracia, which makes a LOT more sense as a personal name.

With Wakaba safely married to Mr. Boring and Mom finally having "the conversation" with Grandpa, what's left? I calculated that this show would last until sometime this Summer, but... Could it just have been a miscalculation?

Or are we going to be waiting around until Mom marries Mr. Look-a-like?

I think there are 18 or 19 episodes of Wakaba left. So it looks like it should run until the end of July. I'll be happy to see it end. I agree with Waldo T. Sakura was a better series.
