The streets of central Tokyo are thronged with countless high-end automobiles, but one model above all others stands out from the crowd. Two meters high and 2.1 meters wide, with a mean, military-style mien, the Hummer H2 is hard to miss among the massed ranks of Toyotas, Nissans, Beemers and Mercs.
The H2, and its compact cousin the H3, have become the stuff of urban legend, with famous folks like pop idols Takuya Kimura and Ayumi Hamasaki, sumo wrestler Asashoryu and baseball player Kazuhiro Kiohara all proud owners.

I posted this in another forum, but just in case you didn't know...
The Return of the Hero
SMAP member Kimura Takuya (33) is to revive the hugely popular role he played in "Hero". The 2001 show had an average audience rating of 34.4%, the highest ever for a Fuji TV drama series. It was also the first time that all eleven episodes of a public network drama had broken the 30% barrier. Fuji announced this week that will be broadcasting a Hero special in July. With a series of recent headline stories featuring public prosecutors, Fuji decided it was a good time for Kimutaku to revive his role as the rebellious prosecutor Kuriu Kohei. The special will... These are all the solo songs and duet songs that Kimura Takuya has done with SMAP. The majority of them are solo songs and I included some duets that he did in the early days of SMAP.
I ripped all these songs from the albums; they are all m4a and tagged and ready to go on anyone's ipod. They play in winamp; so no worries! COMMENT IF YOU TAKE. I originally put these up on megaupload, but those links might have expired; so they are here on glaysmap.net for anyone and everyone to download! These don't include solo side projects like &G, Shingo-mama, ect, ect...

The ladies of Freebird get all the GOOD news; since I can't copy what they wrote, I can give you the gist.. On Kimura's radio show he was saying in response to fans insisting on many singles this year and he said it wasn't really in the works this year, BUT that there will be an album in the future! And then it tired to take it back but was like 'oh well, i've gone and said it'.
SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. GAH!!!!!!! NEW ALBUM. *screams* It's all going to my plan, single release this year, making it 3 singles floating around without an album to call home (BB!V; Dear Woman; Triangle); THAN album news and so when that's offical, I'm expecting tour dates, VERY SOON. Come on SMAP! Give me TOUR DATES!!!!!!

Hello all
I just thought I'll give an insight of how popular Kimtaku is in Japan, especially since he is so popular on this site.
I am in Osaka at the moment. Prior to coming here, I was expecting Kimtaku posters, advertisements, and his likeness everywhere, but they are no where to be found. SMAP does not seem to be popular here at all (the most popular celebrities are "Kat-tun" and "Nakama Yukie"). When I asked around, most of the girls says that they do not like Kimtaku because he has a bad image with the public (attitude problem, snob, etc). Now, I must profess to be a slight Kimtaku fan (for a guy), so I was a bit surprised.
Can anyone give an impression of how popular he is in Tokyo or elsewhere in Japan? Maybe it is just an Osaka thing. _________________

Eh? That's weird...
I've known him only through dramas and I'm a guy too. I can't really have a bad option of him, because I only see him in drama and not in real life. People in Japan can read a lot of stuff on him and see him for what he really is. It could be the reason why they say he has a bad image... Also, it could be an age thing. How old were the girls? If they are 15~18, they could prefer Kat-tun to an old geezer. I know there are a lot of kat-tun fans here.
I know there is a thread for Kimutaku here, maybe someone know something.

Have fun in Japan.
i agree i think it depends what demographic you are looking at....maybe the younger demographic isn't the one that watches him on tv or listen to his music.
they must all like Kat-tun cuz Kame is going out with someone old enough to be his mother

A new album again ? their lattest album was released last year, wasn't it ? I don't think they record an album every year !? That would be great though .

Who has the baddest image in SMAP ? Are you sure it's Takuya ? because most of my Japanese pals told me that Goro has a very bad image since the "cop story in Shibuya" . What do you think ?
Is Takuya really a snob guy ?
Anyway, Shingo seems to be loved by everyone in Japan ...
Thanks Tabana, but actually it isn't my b'day (I think I might have entered in any date for the b'day when registering, but thanks for the thought anyway!!!).
Okay, today I asked another friend and she said that maybe he might be popular in Tokyo since there are heaps more people there and the TV production studios are there too. But that also does not explain the popularity of the gorgeous Nakama Yukie in Osaka (she endorses a lot of stuff here, from credit cards, to skin care, to mobile phones).
In regards to Kat-Tun, I guess that they would appeal to the younger demographic. But yeah, I was just basing it on the ads I see on TV and on posters around the street. Kat-Tun is the lead promoter for the "Dotcomo" mobile phone company. Nakama Yukie is the lead promoter for "AU" mobile phones, and "Misaki Itoh" is the lead promoter for Vodaphone. For further interest, Ueto Aya (I think that's her name, the girl who starred in Azumi) flogs Yahoo broadband and a real estate agency company, and Sawaguchi Kenji (the goalie in Pride) promotes "Aeon English School". But yeah, no Kimtaku anywhere. I even managed to see a Oda Yuji ad in Osaka. Tomorrow I am going to Kyoto so I will give you another report in regards to my "Kimtaku spotting" over there. _________________

Actually, they do release an album each year, from 1991 until 2003, altogether are 16 albums...but they skipped 2004, and 017 was out in 2005...so now, we're all waiting for 018! _________________

That might have to do with her clean image. They prefer having someone with a nice image, good looking that won't end up on the front page of every tabloids in the latest scandal. Only saw a few male actors doing publicity. I don't know if it's me, but I only saw a few of them, mostly in beer ads. I guess cute girls sells more.
As for Yahoo BB, yes it's Aya Ueto. _________________
